So I haven’t had much time to play/test competitively for awhile, hadn’t touched a card since states, and hadn’t touched a card since like January before states (got 2nd). BUT, I had been messing around on apprentice the week before with my testing partner and I got bored and started playing my favorite deck since Rocklock, Eeveelutions just for fun. I find that with Leafeon making Palkia G do a total of 10 damage, and Dialga having 140 damage shoved in its face by Flareon, I have a great matchup VS any and all Dialga/Palkia decks. I still believe this to be true. So the night before regs my dad is like “Hey, wanna go to regionals?” im like YES so I dump out my toxitank I used at states (my sleeves literally had dust on them) and start rushing like mad to find old majestic dawn cards. I realize I only have 1 leafeon lv x and then about die. About this point I find an unopened majestic dawn box I meant to sell on ebay like before LA was released, and crack it open and start ripping packs like mad and throwing cards that aren’t lv x’s everywhere across my floor. I come to a pack and actually find a leaf x in it and freak out. I build my deck and then test the heck out of it till 2am. At 3:30 am I wake up and me and my dad hit the road. 5 ½ hour trip. I sleep, he drives. Good combo.
We show up and I realize that
1. Chatot is necessary. I always used one when I played eevee before, and VS deafen locks and powerlocks early, its amazing. Also you can use switch and free retreat it to clear status and stuff.
2. Umbreon is definitely the play. A G’d umbreon with Blissey in play is never going to die VS gengar.
So I put the umbreon I had with me back in, but don’t have a chatot with me. So I ask Chris and Drew for one, and Drew has one he lets me borrow (Thanks bud!) and I register and we get started.
Round 1 VS Gardevoir/Giratina/Muk
I setup a leaf guard T3 and she never catches up. At one point I need setup so I switch back for chatot and mimic into a good hand, and she makes a small comeback with giratina but I umbreon it for the ko. GG

Round 2 VS Tracy Key with Galactic stuff
She gets ahead early, but I make a comeback once I setup leafeon x. We go back and forth for awhile, but eventually she catches me on time at the end by killing my benched leafeon with 100. GG

Round 3 VS Mightyena/Skuntank/Muk
I’ve seen more Muk’s today then I’ve ever seen in my life. This is also my 3rd straight female opponent! We go back and forth and have a really good game. However, I figure out that mightyena has 90 HP, takes 10 from poison, flareon hits for 70, and then poison kills it inbetween turns. We get to 2-2 and then I Leaf guard ko, she doesn’t have a response, and Verdant dance wins it for me in the end. GG

Lunch! Me and my dad get some pizza at the Inn, I catch up with Jeff who I hadn’t seen in awhile, and then me and Drew talk as well when he shows up with his food. Then I go back to the room and take a nice 20 minute nap and go back.
Round 4 VS Mike with Giratina/Absol/Mesprit
This is one of the better games ive played. I see absol and immediately call for chatot. I struggle to setup but eventually end up doing it and his mesprit lock ends t5ish. We go very back and forth, but blissey keeps my G’d umbreon alive long enough to kill giratina x. Then he starts setting up another one and we get down to 2-2. He has no legitamite attackers, but that doesn’t matter when all my pokemon are so heavily damaged. Also, im out of cards. 0 cards left in deck. I night maintenance 3 back in and end up getting ready to set up a leafeon for the win. However, time gets called so I get a lame time win I didn’t want because I do go ahead that turn via umbreon. We play it out and I do end up verdant dancing ftw 2 turns later. GREAT game, mike.

Round 5 VS Scott with Gengar/Uxie/Crobat
Wow. WOW. I get a horrid setup. I mimic for a turn or two. Get nothing. I miced for eigth and drew nothing. YEAH. Also, when im able to start making a comeback eventually, my umbreons prized. HOWEVER, I G a leafeon and end up starting this thing where I’ll verdant for 90, then retreat for uxie to ko and get around fainting spell. This makes me comeback. Until that point, prize count was 6-2 his favor. I end up making it 1-2, then he gets it to 1-1. I setup a verdant dance ftw on my next turn, but he crobats and im like UGH ONE MORE CROBAT AND I LOSE. He plays SSU, and its of course heads. If it was tails, I ko with verdant for 140ish next turn. GG tho

Lame. At this point I realize im prolly gonna bubble out. Oh well, rating ftw.
Round 6 VS Gengar/Machamp
She gets nothing, I get t3 leaf guard. I just kill her and counter every play she makes the entire time. She takes out my claydol, but im already so far ahead at that point it doesn’t matter. GG

She says that she’s going to drop, and im like UGH that what I need when im on the bubble, less resistance.
Round 7 VS Machamp
Im almost asleep by this point. I don’t even know what im doing. But I know saying “Leaf Guard” is really cool. So I do, and get up by 2 prizes before he takes one. We go back and forth, and he gets a lame ko off because when I attacked his strong-willed machamp he of course flipped heads. I charge a G’d crobat and end up toxicing the champ x for the ko. I end up winning on time at the end, but based on the board im pretty sure I had it anyway. GG

I resleeve thinking I may make topcut, and they call it and im 19th, being one of the worst resistances in the room. I SWARE the computer out to get me, ive bubbled out so many times due to resistance its kinda ridiculous. Oh well, expect the worst, hope for the best.
