Does anyone think that it is playable now that Delta is slowly dying out? It shut's down Electivire, Delcatty, Magneton, Blaziken,Typhlosion, Lucario Lv.X, Magmortar Lv.X, and probably a ton more that I don't have time to list.
I think that as more and more good cards are introduced from the Diamond and Pearl sets, the more playable this card will be. It should only see play as a tech, but does any one think it's worth a shot?

actually, yes, i do think it could be used, but the thing is, it does exactly what a CC would do better. and the fact that you need a holon energy attached to it also lowers its playability.

You think it could fit in something like a GatrQueen? That has searching ability for it. Plus the same types.

It works well as a 1-0-1 line that plays 4 Rare Candy. I'd be a nice tech for GatrQueen. The only problem is that it requires a few Holon Energy to be in the deck for it to be effective... don't forget that you must waste a turn to power its body.

    it is bad because :

    it's a stage 2

It can be shut down by CC, BF, and latis

    Needs a holon energy

    Bad attack

    no free retreat.

    I dunno.

Any deck made by someone who does not pay attention to the metagame, I guess.

Shmagoolski - I think you missed a little something with the CCs. Pidgeot d would only be in a delta deck like R-Gon so the body would not turn off your own powers just hopefully the opponents. But if your opponent plays a deck that runs CCs like Mario then they probably don't care that you are shutting them down and it could hurt you like shutting down Fearow d's Delta Sign.

Yeah, LatiLock is dead folks. What decks dominate because of their poke-body? Garchomp? Yeah, okay. I guess there are still lots of pokemon that have bodies in the format, but most of them won't see play at a competitive tournament anytime soon.

well you would never set up Pidgeot against Mario first of all.

But yeah, like somebody already said, Lati-lock is dead. There's basically nothing that can fit in Lati-lock nowadays anyway since the trainer lines have gotten so much bulkier leaving less room for techs.

Bump for taking another look at our format now: Pachirisu is finally here to make CC's harder to use, which encourages big setup decks with powers (Gardevoir + Lv. X, Claydol GE, Weavile SW+Darkrai Lv. X, Fire TRUK) to gain back the ground they lost to speed decks around DP1-DP2.

That's where Pidgeot d steps in. We have a new Pidgeot in SW which isn't half-bad, speedy Stage 2 compatible with CB, Holon energies and Drake's. And it resists fighting = Gallade. 5 flips if Drake is in play, there's not too many pokémon capable for this (Ok, Flygon EX PK and Wailord and few other ex's). Combine with 4x Holon WP and you don't have to be afraid of taken down by Sonic Blade either. Or Lv. X's Bring Down.

Here's where Pidgeot HP steps in, as GG has 2 other tricks in their sleeve, Gardevoir's and Lv. X's power. Gardevoir Lv. X is generally considered to have a free retreat because of it's power, and Gardevoir is a huge speed setup for that Stage 2 deck with it's supporter using ability. Well, what happens when you get Pidgeot d with Holon energy in play? Both blocked. Not many GGs play Latilock or Battle Frontier just to counter this rogue.

Well, how should you get this up before GG starts setupping? Well, Pidgeot wasn't the only good colorless pokémon to come out in Secret Wonders. Yeps, I'm talking about Furret. Furret searches your Rare Candies and Holon Energies and makes T3 Pidgeot HP powerblock more than propable, and T2 possible. You're playing 4 Rare Candies, so if you happen to get T1 Furret, even better.

Heck, you can even throw in Milotic delta as 1-1 Tech. You use GG's supporters but they can't use yours - talk about getting back to GG!

Now, if GG for some reason decides to play Latilock, we have a slight problem. But does GG tech against all the rogues out there? Certaily this isn't the first priority of GG player - they will be busier teching against T2 decks, which can leave GG helpless with Cessation Crystals and OHKOs. Also, GG already uses over 20 spaces to pokémon (Furret version), adding 2 more will make the trainer side less attractive.

As said, Pidgeot has decent resistance and not so common weakness - well, Pachirisu can throw 40 to us and Electrode can KO itself and us, but Pidgeot itself is pretty low-resource pokémon. As long as Gallade is running rampart and we're not getting any non-F-weakness lightning pokémon (I don't mean you, Feraligatr d), we're pretty much safe in this side.

What I'm saying here is that Pidgeot d can disturb the metagame as it is now, and for unprepared archetype player it can be not so pleasant surprise. It's one of the few power blocks in the format that's getting filled up with powers, and doing pretty fine job when paired with the right support.
