Eminent problem: No basics. When it's in the deck or hand, a Fossil counts as a trainer. Therefore, you can't play it to start the game. Throw in a couple Chatots and a 2-2 Claydol line, get rid of 2x Kabuto and throw in 4x Rare Candy.

ok but im not doing claydol cause i cant and the kabuto thing i dont really like but ill just put 4 rare candy in anyway

If you start with a Fossil, you have to start the game with it. Its been that way for a long time. However, it is a trainer, so you can't put it down your first turn.

So during setup you can, first turn you can't.

Relicanth is good, so are Fossil Excavators. Good luck!

That's partially true.

Read the rules, it clearly states that if you start with a fossil in your hand, you may play it as a basic pokemon in the game-start stage. (if it's the only basic in your hand, you MUST play it during setup)

2-2 Claydol is good.

Omastar and Aerodactyl are good as well for their abilities.

Or Garchomp Lv X, with Dragon Pulse spreading damage that Kabutops can use effectively.

Or Ampharos SW, as he spreads whenever the opponent uses a supporter.

thanks this is my first deck and you must play it if its the only basic
but chatot is still a strong choice

Donphan works well with Kabutops. Rapid Spin switches Donphan out for Kabutops and you can then hit their active for 70 and the Pokemon you Rapid Spinned for 10 continually.

I've had good success with Armaldo and Kabutops. Energy acceleration is tricky but the setup otherwise is fast and leads to such great disruption you can get energy down or at least have things to do otherwise.

Pokémon: 16
2 Kabuto
3 Kabutops
2 Anorith
4 Armaldo
2 Baltoy
2 Claydol
1 Mr. Mime

Trainers: 29
4 Fossil Excavator
4 Bebe's Search
1 Roseanne's Research
1 Team Galactic's Wager
4 Rare Candy
4 Quick Ball
4 Technical Machine TS-01
3 Dome Fossil
4 Claw Fossil

Energy: 15
4 Call Energy
11 Fighting Energy

Fossils in some form are looking to be amazing next format because with Bebe's you get 8 evolution searching supporters.

An evil idea is Kabutops/Gliscor. Gliscor can switch into a Kabutops with its attack, and stops them warp pointing around paralysis.

Epic fail.

New ruling allows Fossils to be played as basics at the beginning of the game.

^ Actually, that ruling isn't new, it's been around since the original Fossil expansion. The "new" ruling is if it's your ONLY basic, you may not take a mulligan, but that's been around for at least 2 years too.

Anyway, Chatot is a good starter, as is Call/Phione.

Kabutops runs great with aerodactyl and ampharos. Kabutops pokebody stops your opponent frrom playing trainers, aerodactyl's pokebody puts damage on your opponents pokemon that use
pokepowers, and ampharos jamming puts 1 damage counter on all of your opponents pokemon when he/she plays supporters. whenever your opponent does something, there's always a consequence.

try it.
