What happens at Pre-registration?

I was talking to a buddy at league last night. What happens at the Pre-registration on Thursday? Do we check in our decks at that time? I know we might get a t-shirt. Will we get a schedule of events or a start time?

First time to Nats. Can't wait!

You get registered early, get the promo shirt etc. You will get a time to be there by on friday, which is usually when the players meeting starts. You turn you deck lists in at the players meeting on friday. If you won States/Regionals, you get to go into the 'express line' which is a lot shorter than the normal one, which can take a long time.

Be sure you have your POP ID. You'll fill out a card with your name, birthday and ID, then turn that in for your "registration" - then proceed to the goodies. They should have some displays up with schedules and locations for everything also.

how does deck checking take place on Friday morning? I'm glad that we don't check in our decks at registration. That gives us more time to play test.

Any idea what the schedule usually looks like? Is it check in till 10 am and first round is at 11 am? or something like that?

and then do we just keep playing however many rounds until the top cut? How many rounds is that?

If I suck am I going to be done at 0-4? Or are there rounds all day until Saturday's top cut? Or is it Sundays?

man, I hope these aren't obvious questions that I could be finding on the pokemon website...(checking that now)

Sorry. Feeling stupid. lots of questions answered here: http://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/championship-series/tcg-national-championships/

"Deck Checks" consist of your Deck List being collected at the 9am Player Meeting. Lists will be checked by Staff and issues will be addressed during Round 1.

Random Deck Checks will happen throughout the event.

Swiss will take place on Friday and Saturday. I think they are planning to run 9 rounds (Might be wrong here) on Friday. They are trying to wrap all divisions around 6pm, but that is dependent upon players and time to resolve +3 Turns....

Top Cuts will be run until Top 16 on Saturday for all age groups.

Top 16 will finish on Sunday, with the event looking to finish by 4pm.

Most of those should be answered by the website.

As for deck checking, we won't be doing a mass deck check, Thursday or Friday. You will turn in your list at the players meeting Friday morning, and some of the staff will scan the lists for glaring errors, but the responsibility for your decklist being correct is all on you. There will be random deck checks going on both days, as well as deck checks before top cut.

:EDIT: EEVEE NINJA! You must be an Umbreon, to sneak up on me like that.

Are they really considering running all of the Swiss rounds on Friday? That seems like a mistake and would be really tiring. Here is hoping they do what they usually do (and what is currently listed on the website), and run roughly half the swiss rounds friday (5 or 6 generally), and the remaining 3 or 4 on Saturday, along with Top Cut down to Top 16.

As I said, "Might be wrong here"...

According to the site, they are doing approximately half, depending on attendance.

If there are 2,000 players in Masters, count on 9 rounds on day one. Of course, that would be insane... There aren't 2,000 Masters that play Pokemon... Pokemon is a dead game right?

I may be a bit insane here, but I would LOVE a tourney with 2000 Masters! haha :D

As would I.

My plan for the weekend is to Judge till they tell me I am done.

Then to start all over the next day. Rinse and repeat...

No matter how many players / rounds we have Nats will be great!

With 2000 Masters, we would need 10 rounds with two flights, or 9 rounds with three flights, or else a very big top cut.

There are way more than 2,000 masters who play Pokemon but it costs a lot of money for some people to make it to Nats. :( I would love to go with my family but can't afford it this year (maybe next). :thumb:
