After seeing the results of most Nationals (and Regionals + SPT's) I get more and more the feeling something should be done about the Gardevoir/Gallade combination.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to have them banned, but I think they should be restricted to either Gardevoir OR Gallade to be in a deck.

The combination of both is to much imo.
This last part of the season was actually boring.
Most time you played against GG many games during a tournament, not really my idea of a Fun and Creative environment.

Sure I understand people want to go with "the best deck" available.
But GG killed almost all creative players. No matter how hard you worked, having to play that deck over and over again makes people think about quiting.

I would not let a tear, if for Worlds there would be a restriction on the use of Gardevoir/Gallade.
Like mentioned before you can use one or the other but not both.
I don't think Empoleon or Magmortar would take over, but I do think we would see more creative decks.

    Just my thoughts.

GG is not all that. read my report. i played fire monkey and battled 4 GGs. 3 of them were in top 20 juniors for north america. They always got by turn 10 COMPLETE SETUP FULL ENERGY ATTACHMENT while i had nothing.i always won though. GG just does good for a few turns killing some big guys then cant to enough damage to kill a 90 hp thing. it can lock but only50/60 damage. u can find ur way to kill the gardy.

I believe this topic has already been tackled quite well.

^Perhaps the LunaSol thing isn't completely analagous, but, the "sky was not falling", it was not "the end of the world" when card X was released.
X = any card that large numbers of people have complained about in the past.

The only restriction for GG that I see needed is to have Gardevoir's attack errata'd so there's some way you can get around it such as warp point.

Most "powerfull" (most used) cards have a drawback. In the case of Lunatone/Solrock the fact they were basics with low HP.
Gallade doesn't have a drawback imo, 130 HP and 2 attacks is good.
I know Empoleon and Magmortar (and other) have also 2 good attacks, but they don't have a "friend" to use out of the same evolution line. That's what makes the difference.

I do like Gardevoir, I do like Gallade, but I don't like it the way the combination of them is ruling so much.

And sorry if there is already a topic about this, I just feel there is something "not oké" in the current "metagame".

I agree. I am SICK of Pl0x. It's just that it isn't that hard to obtain the cards for, and it has to many stategies. It has ohko, spread, great powers, TGW compatibility, and power lockdown, the ability to tech a lot, and it is soooo boring.

Actually I should have put up a question.

Would Gardevoir be played so much if Gallade came from another evolution line?
Playing 2 stage 2 lines is much harder if you need the 2nd line to attack.
It still would be a good combination, but would it be used as much as it is now?

not too much becuase i mean, gardy is a good locker but no heavy inflicter.

You are completely right, but isn't it a little bit too late for a restriction?

Format was much worse at States and Regionals, if they didn't change it there, why now?

We only have Worlds left for important tournaments. Maybe someone has created a good rogue deck that can beat GG. Wouldn't it be unfair to make such changes about 7 weeks before Worlds?

I would have been happy if they made a restriction right before the State Championships. I didn't play GG since the end of Cities, but it was really boring to face either GG or Magmortar at every single State Championship match.

Next season, GG loses DRE and Scramble, and there also will be counter decks against it (AMU, Dusknoir). I really hope we don't experience a similar problem then.

Why should it be to late for a restriction?

    Why should it be unfair?
People who earned an invite for Worlds should be able to work with any restriction.
It was much harder for a lot of internationals players to play their Nationals with a brand new set just released, without having a single tournament to test.

becuase worlds is soon and it can really mess up people. what if GG only deck and they sold all their cards. maybe next season when GG will suk. ive seen many decks deafeting GG at nats.

GG is really disgusting. There's definitely a lot of skill involved in this format and it's one of my favorites ever, but ANYONE can do well with GG. The real players are the ones who can win with other decks and adapt to any format. I would support any restriction on any GG related card. Just ban Ralts or something.

LOL!!! bann ralts.... thats funny. no need to ban. u said people who are good can beat gg so that means y ban it?? when u can beat it. no need to banit even though 65% will play GG. maybe even more.

I do not think Gallade or Garde have to be restricted. That one card HAS to be restricted since it ruined everyting for the polayers the whole season is DRE. That card HAS to be banned. IMO

lol. ruins almost every deck using special that provide 2 or more. ouch. NO BAN DRE!!! its going to be out soon anyways so whats the point?

GG isnt really a threat to me anymore. i went like 5-0 against GG in nats and a few of them got T2 lade. he wound up flipping all of his prizes and then the damage is very low compared to the consistent damage that empoleon/leafeon/other stuff does

I doubt there will be, but I sure hpe so. I guess some fair ways is haveing a limit og=f total gardy/Gallade or haveing to run X many other pokemon.

It doesn't really matter. Double Rainbow and Scramble will be gone after Worlds anyway. The deck will be almost usless without them.

What I don't like about GG/Plox is that it is the ONLY deck in format that can switch from insane disruption to crazy aggro like its nothing. Its too much to be able to handle for most decks. You either can't use powers, or they are one shotting everything, it makes it so hard to be able to make a counter deck.
Countering Gallade? Countering Gardevoir? Both are much easier to do when you only have one at a time coming at you while not having to fear the other one right behind.
I think that if some form of errata were to be done to Psychic Lock it would be much more fair, but seeing as how thats the proper text, I just don't see it happening.

BTW, does anyone know if GG/Plox is overtaking everything in Japan like it is here? Or are there other things currently competing with it?

Japan has a WAY difrent format than us. I'm pretty sure they have ex Fire Red Leaf Green on, which means they also have Here Comes Team Rocket (I wish we had that...) . At least their G&G decks are only disruptive.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

We've still got Canadian nats, and that's what I'm worried about.
And it's not like it will be gone next format. it will just go from "extremely broken" to "very good deck".
