What Would You Add to The New Format?

Hmm. If they'd keep it at LC on, I don't think they need to add much.

Maybe gold berry, but I think Focus Band is a real help to diversity of playable decks with all the huge HP and huge damage monsters in the new sets. This helps keep not only Skyridge Starmie but Linoone and other mid-Level pokemon playable.

Never mind Super Energy Removal. If I want to play that (and I do), I have unlimited. SER totally changes the game and makes lots of stuff un-playable. Cards that slice the card pool of playable cards in half should not be re-released.

Special energies like recycle, full heal and potion would also help keep the lower HP cards playable.

I say keep one or two cards in like either Elm, Double Gust or Gold Berry, but IMO wait until Nintendo releases more cards. You never know they might have some cards that are much better or about the same.

That would be interesting to see, but just remember that most of the Gym Leader Trainers only affected the Pokemon cards that had their name in it. If they did re-release SOME of the Gym Hero/Challenge cards (maybe around 5 cards per gym leader, making that around 40 or so cards not including Rocket), that would bring a huge impact to the playing field. I think it sounds like a good idea.

I'd just like to see Erika, becasue of it's drawing ability.

I don't think we really need anything if Nintendo gives us Eon. Elm would be OK, but we can do without.

I think that Cleffa would be a bad idea, the flipping of the old babies is irritating. I would for the same reason not bring promo Cleffa back.

Tyrouge would be a disaster. Without Tyrogue there is a chance that we will see some colorless, dark or electric decks which will give us more variety.

I am actually looking forward to a format without Double Gust. It will reduce reliance on speed because you will get more time to build your main Pokemon, even if it requires sacrificing a Pokemon or two.

Don't bring back Focus Band (too much flipping and too large impact when on a flip) and Gold Berry (vastly undercosted and totally unreasonable when combined with the EX Pokemon).

I definitely agree that Tyrogue needs to stay out of the next Modified. I also agree that Genesis Cleffa should bow out gracefully. Focus Band, too, we can easily afford to lose. Double Gust, I'm not sure about -- it's one of the few remaining counters to stall strategies. But Gold Berry? Like I said above, the healing cards we'll have left will mostly stink, so we need at least one good healing card. If not Gold Berry, then Super Potion. I have changed my opinion on SER -- maybe as a Supporter, it would be okay, but probably not. Energy Removal 2 and Super Energy Removal 2 may be flippy, but at least we'll still have Energy disruption. I doubt bringing back Full Heal Energy would have much impact, since we'll have Warp Energy, and I doubt Potion Energy would have much impact at all. Recycle Energy would be a good one, though. Sabrina's Gaze is one of my favorite cards -- I'd like to see it come back, even if it had to come back as a Supporter (who'd play two Sabrina's Gazes in a turn anyway?). Computer Search should stay out of Modified, especially with Mewtwo EX around. I would like to see Double Colorless Energy come back, but since another, weaker version of it (Bounce Energy) has already come out, that's not likely. I would be interested in seeing Fossil Aerodactyl come back, but only as an EX. It's too powerful to come back in its original form.

If fossil Aerodactyl came back that would ENCOURAGE the use of ex pokemon haymakers, which may not be the best idea in my opinion.

Elm, Cleffa, Tyrogue, Focus Band, Double Gust, Gold Berry, aren't we tired of these cards yet?

Nothing NEEDS to be reprinted, I've played expedition on, it is quite a fun format.

True, nothing NEEDS to be reprinted, but we would LIKE some things to be reprinted. Truth to tell, I'd like to see reprints some of the cards that were overshadowed at first, but could have done well had some of their peers not been around, as well as some that just didn't have what it took yet, then got overshadowed. Examples? Base Set Jynx, Recycle, Jungle Pinsir, Fossil Dragonite, Fossil Hitmonlee.

I really wish people would quit whining over the fact that there are no real playable trainers in EON. Of course, there are!!! Humans are creatures of habit so that's why we have played with cards like Elm, Cleffa, Double Gust, Gold Berry, Focus band, and others since December 2000 and for so long that we feel that we can't break the habit of playing them(since they've been in our decks for how long? - Almost 3 years!!!). Sure, few trainer cards in EON are hardly in the same ballpark as stuff like Elm but I think the pokemon community needs to move on and start playing with something different. I've never been the kind of person that is in favor of reprinting certain cards because of the fact that I like to try different cards and combinations and see how they work and interact with each other. In makes for a more enriching and self-gratifying TCG experience. Simply put, if you want to play with all your Oaks and Elms and all your other old cards, play unlimited. But if you like to play with a fresh, new and dynamic format with new cards streaming in all the time, then play Modified.

Very well said, Blastoise. That's actually why I recommended the cards I did in my last post -- those are cards few people really ever played.

The ONLY card I'd really like to see reprinted would be Double Gust. We had next to nothing in the way of disruption these days.

As for the other "Staples", we have replacements for those. We have Card Drawing, we have Healing, etc. But we don't have sufficient disruption.

But we could very well easily do without. Been testing Expedition Onward as well, and I agree, it's fun as is!

I would like to see:
Muk - so many powers
focus band - for us old brain dead strategy less players
double gust - see above
best promos - see above

overall, I would agree that healing is gonna be a problem. Therefore, I think Super Potion should be re-released. Even though it was very common to use, It would definately help out with healing problems.
