Where in the world did Brock (and Dawn) go?

I wish they would. B/C is at least slightly less annoying than J/J.

She's there for, what, about a dozen episodes or something like that?

Why do people keep acting so shocked anyway each time a main character leaves as if it's not expected?

Pretty much as soon as we saw May leave when AG ended we knew the same would happen with Dawn when DP ended. This is also the reason why everyone knew Misty would never come back, because the writers are focusing on new heroines each gen rather than going back to an old one.

It's amazing how time flies. Misty hasn't even had a cameo in like 7 years since the Hoenn league ended, lol.

Thing is the Pokemon franchise wasn't intended to go past Generation II being Johto and with the success of the video games and such Nintendo and Game Freak felt the need to continue the series further despite that the Original Manga series for Pokemon ended after Generation II, so from then on the Anime was mainly used as a marketing tool for the franchise where alot of the same stuff is repeated over and over again hence why people started getting these crazy theories about the Anime and such to the point where they try to ruin people's childhoods of the Anime series growing up.

The original manga continued well past Gen II, it's already started some B/W and HG/SS, I believe.

The Adventures Manga has gone long past Gen 2. However, with each new generation, they introduce a new set of protagonists, and have a completely different story. Something that can NOT be said about the Ash Anime.

They should have done it with the anime since they bring in new characters every gen anyway.

Honestly if it weren't for Brock sticking around, you could have said the anime adapted to the new games each generation.

I miss Brock.

What? It is Ash they should have chucked. His character is the one that does not truly "evolve", but seems bound in a never ending cycle of becoming a "master" but then forgetting it all due to plot amnesia and becoming a rash newbie again. As the supportive comic relief, Brock could be the familiar face some viewers feel they need.

Well their are some episodes that have other people reconizing Ash and his accomplishments from past seasons. This season it seemed like they really made Ash into a begginner... I mean in the first couple of episodes when he was trying to catch his first pokemon he "forgot" he had to battle it to catch it and Iris has to keep telling hin what to do.

Can't even tell you how many times I literally yelled at my T.V for the most stupidest mistakes Ash has made in this season lol.

My thought exactly. They totally messed it up. :/

We sat through Brock for 13 years and over 600 episodes. I'm not sure what's to miss about a guy who literally did the same thing in every episode for over 600 shows.

If anything I am still surprised they didn't get rid of him sooner. He really had no purpose in the DP saga at all.

The appeal to me about him was that he had his goofy perverted side and his confident knowledgeable side. While he did certainly get... repetitive after all these years the main problem was Ash. IMO if they wanted to keep Ash and Brock around they should have made Ash's behavior actually match his accomplishments. Maybe have the new character (ie May/Dawn) slowly take focus as the two mentored and make for a more dynamic experience, but nope, Ash had to retain his ignorant disposition. :nonono:

precita: I can relate to Brock a whole lot better than most any other character (though I haven't seen a lot of B&W). I enjoyed his role as the parental figure, because to me that is the best character to keep constant.

Remember that Brock was cut from the series before and brought back.

Ash is in that odd role where the master must become "teh n00b" again. >.> It gets old a lot faster than "I love you for no apparent reason and get shot down time and time again!"

Now if they are going to do a total revamp, great! Instead, we kept Ash. At least let Ash develop into a mentor role himself. >.>

Actually, I kinda wouldn't mind if they kept Ash, but instead cast him in sort of a hybrid Brock/Ash role. He's still going around earning badges and "becoming a master" and all that jazz, but also get a new character that's also a complete newbie for him to mentor. Would've been nice to have seen White (or whatever her name is) traveling with Ash instead of the two Gym Leaders this time around.

I STILL want them to animate the Pokemon Adventures manga. It's not the best thing in the universe, but it's not terrible like the current anime either.

Brock came back after a short filler saga that was only 30 episodes long. Now he's gone for an entire generation and replaced by a guy who is well liked.

It's the same situation with Misty. She stayed gone when she left at the end of Johto and never did return to the show even after 10 years and 3 more generations.

The writers never depended on Misty or Brock to carry the show, which is why they abandoned the original trio a decade ago and never bothered with it since. That's the whole reason nobody is surprised Misty stays gone and now Brock is likely to follow suit.

...which has nothing to do with what was just said.

I brought up that Brock was brought back because your earlier post glossed over it, and as a reminder he does have some fan pull.

I expressed my displeasure at his being removed from the show while Ash was kept.
