why are japanese players allowed to use english cards at the world championships

Im not sure why this is a issue. We should be glad that the Japanese players would use English cards to help English players out. I mean, If I were playing in Japan with my English-non standard deck, I would have a Japanese counterpart for the card so they could read.

the issue isn't one of clarity; anyone playing at the world championships should know what cards like professor juniper do, but one of they are playing with foreign(for them) cards in their decks but we are not allowed to

I play with cards most players dont so if I were to play a Japanese player (in a Japanese country) I would play with japanese cards if allowed to (as I know what my deck does). Sure most of the players may know every card but most dont. Again Im not sure why this is a issue. Why would anyone here need to play with a deck of Japanese cards if not for swag?

The issue is not that people are doing it. We like that they do it.

The issue is that the rules, as they currently are, do not allow it. So in theory someone could ruleshark them and the judges might feel forced to penalize the Japanese player just for being considerate. We don't want to stop the Japanese from using English cards, we want them to not get rulesharked by people who don't adhere to SotG.

It's a shame that people would try to do that anyway. I remember a while back where a player tried to do that to a player who used Japanese card. The player who rulesharked the opponent ended up getting a game loss. If that should be a problem again, the rule should be removed or at least be decided by the head judge.

But the rules do allow it.
Japan is in the Asia Pacific region.
The fact that POP does not run events in Japan is beside the point.
For the World Championship (and LCQ), players from Japan, in the Asia Pacific region ARE playing in a POP tournament and therefore that rule applies to them.
When they are in Japan, playing in an event run by Creatures, they play by Creatures rules.
When outside Japan, they play by POP's rules. And then, English cards are legal for them.
Simple as that.
