FYI to all those who say it should be in another country, please realize that the USA has the most players, and also has TONS of great locations for worlds.

Yeah, sure. As if Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Turin, Vienna, Prague etc etc etc are all bad locations? Also, you guys whine about having to travel a few more states. Yet we have to fly all the way there. If I were wanting to compete in Grinders, I’d have to shell out 2000 bucks. Sorry, but no. If it were in, say, Rome (Travel from my place to Rome is akin to what the journey, say, Chicago-LA would be to an average American), I’d go there. But nooooo….

seriously i live in london and it would be awesome to have worlds in europe one day, but im moving to LA in 2 years (YEAH!) so it doesnt really matter for me

think about dedicated ne players who dont have money to spend

i agree it should be in the North East at least once.
Im in pa and if it were in ny, ma,pa or whatever I could easily drive there.
i mean cmon, Cali's minimum wage is way higher than say a new yorkers ($7.15). And they still get an easy pass! some californians can walk, others can take a local bus or train, and for the unlucky few a couple hrs car ride. let us have that luxury just once plz! North east states are easy to get to eachother so that would give many players in many states a chance to compete in at least one worlds.
and plz dont anyone say "nats is in ohio!" (aka equally as far for californians as north easterners) because who cares? Nats is great but ppl want to go to WORLDS and have a chance at becoming WORLD champion. Ohio is just as bad as cali for me and basically all players around me. I know for a fact if worlds isn't ever in the northeast area id never be able to go. I also know that everyone in my old league would go to worlds if it were in the ne area.

Hey!
Heard about a little country in Asia called Japan? Yeah, they have the most players.
Shouldn't they host worlds then?
No, because worlds is hosted by Pokemon USA, and it is the cheapest solution to have it played out in the USA.

Personally, I love getting a chance to go to the US every year, and thanks to Pokemon, I have even been to Hawaii.

San Diego on the other hand is a city I've never been too, so I'm soo happy that worlds is held there next year.

Good Choice PUI! :D

Just like any other sporting event (not that pokemon is a sport) they should have worlds in different countries every year ,IMO. but we all know that wont happen because it will cost PUI ALOT of money but still that would be cool.

Japan does not have more players than USA.

Sure, Tokyo has like 35 million people, but US is at least 10 times larger than Japan.

US is home to the biggest pokemon tournament EVAR...Us nationals 08.

Yes, it all began in Japan, Japan is the home, but it does not have more players than USA.

I think it's cool that it's in SD!

They don't release the numbers for the Japanese tourneys. I don't think their tournament structure allows for it either...

Worlds in Europe (UK would be even better) would be so cool it would certainly help encourage competitive play here as there really doesn't seem to be such a huge competitive playing community :(

If that's the case, I can quit my career of gambling for a year and play Pokemon again. I really love big local events :)

Noooooooooooo! Why doesn't PUI have an east coast bias like the rest of the country?*

*FL doesn't generally count as the east coast.

It seems as though Worlds locations are cyclical...

2004-Orlando
2005-San Diego
2006-Anaheim
2007-Kona

2008-Orlando
2009-San Diego

Hmm...

WOW, what a shocker......I will go with the above reply and say it will be probably in Florida 2010. It would be a huge upset if it was actually given to another state! Let alone another country.

I'm so happy World's is coming back to Socal. It's going to be an awesome event and I can't wait.

Sweet! My other team members and I were hoping for a California-based Pokemon Worlds... ROAD TRIP!! :thumb:

Plus, there's way more stuff in southern!California than there is in Florida. Much much MUCH better weather, too. I can't wait! I'm going even if I don't get an invite.
