To be more specific:
The tournament is run using the Modified (DP-on) Format and Swiss plus Single Elimination pairings. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event. Swiss rounds will be a single-game format. Each Swiss round will last 30 minutes plus 3 turns.
So yaa.....
Im gonna assume its a typo but just saying, they should fix that.

What the....? Have they ever done this before? Made a world tourney an open format for like 20 sets before?

Its real alright... but I wonder if its a typo?

I remember on the PTCGO website one of the admins had mentioned that the new version of the TCGO would implement new and diverse modified/unlimited formats and the trainer challenge thats currently out has opponents with DP-on cards. Perhaps this is a hint that they will be attempting to expand the game IRL with more varying formats like Magic?

Why is this website with the schedule not up yet? Some of us are leaving early this week.

There you go...

What is the tournament structure?

The tournament is run using the Modified (HGSS-on) Format and Swiss plus Single Elimination pairings. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event. Swiss rounds will be a single-game format. Each Swiss round will last 30 minutes plus 3 turns.

After Swiss rounds are complete, there will be a cut to single-elimination finals. The top players (number to be determined by final attendance) from each age division will then play in the single-elimination finals on Sunday, August 12th, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Single-elimination finals will be a best-of-three game format. Each single-elimination round will last 60 minutes plus 3 turns.

The FAQ has to be a typo...

The snazzy new worlds site simply has a typo. The format that we have listed on our site for some time now shows the correct HGSS on format.

That's a BIG typo to make, but its good that you're taking care of it. The worlds website has a lot of text, so its easy to make a mistake, but that is a very important mistake to make. Even so, good to know that you're fixing it. DP-on would really shake up the game, though, huh? :p

Another typo on the site though it is not as big of a mistake as "DP-on."

Here is the body of the article with the typo bold.

"This year's competition returns to the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii, site of the 2010 Pokémon World Championships. The players will be competing for over $100,000 in scholarships, as well as an invitation to next year's Pokémon World Championships."

I thought I bring it up to attention just in case. :)

I'm pretty sure that's where Worlds 2010 was held. I could be wrong though...

Those above are correct; this is not a typo.

Now, the site updates RSS feed has a typo, listing the wrong year in the title.
