Does anyone know the process to get an invite to the world championships?
Are we required to go to a city, national and state championship? Are previous top 8 players from each age group from the wotc championship automatically invited to defend their title? Any info would be helpful. Thanks you.

From what I've read on this board, there a 3 ways to get an invite:

1.Win a State championship
2.Have a high placing at Nationals
3.Have a high POP ranking

*Note: Nothing officaial on how high for 2 & 3 yet

I've heard that winning (a) States, (b) National, (c) Gym Challenge, and (d) Stadium Challenge will get you invited. It's unclear whether it's just the winners or how far down they will go.

(Remember before that Gym Challenges they only took the winner only and Stadium Challenge they took the Top 4 (correct me if I'm wrong on that, although I'm sure someone would anyway)).

States - I would guess that it would be only the winner.

National - I would guess either Top 4 or Top 8.

As for the high ratings, who knows. Didn't the top 20 get invited for Worlds in 2002 (no trips, just invites)?

These are my assumptions...

To get a invite & a free trip:

1. Win a Gym Challenge (Each age division)
2. Win a Stadium Challenge (Each age division)
3. Win at Nationals
4. Top 5 per country in POP ranking

To get an invite, but no free trip:

1. POP Ranked 6-10 per country
2. "Last-Minute Grinder" Tourney @ Worlds
3. Last year's Prof. Champion... (Very Doubtful, but bleh..)

These are just hypotheses, and the POP rankings are little more than wild-guesses, but it makes sense, don't you think? I would love to say that State Championships will give invites, but I honestly don't think so, because I believe they've already stated that Nationals will only give one invite, and if Nationals only give one, then that doesn't give much hope for States giving any,

Wait a second where the heck you get that glossary page from???

By the ways... Pokemon Organized Play is planning getting the Challenge Series ready by Mayish.

The glossary is brand new. POP just posted it and changed many links to point to it. I wish that they would add the other definition for BYE to it. It makes it sound like the people that get byes at state are bad players.

Thanks for the catch! The glossary definition of 'bye' is being altered now to include byes that are awarded as prizes.
