okay so oviously pokemon is in many countries. how does that work out in worlds if say an american kid fbattles a german kid. do poeple have to bring like 20 translations for each card so everyone can read it and how do you tell your opponet that it is his/her turn if you don't speak his/her language any one know how that works

They are using the same cards as use, just in their language. The pics are the same and most players know what the card does, so, it is usually alot of finger pointing at the cards (or powers) to indicate the move and the damage can be figured out pretty easy. If there is a problem, the "foriegn" player holds up his sign, stating which translator he/she needs and the judge and the translator come over together.

PS My son played a young man from the Netherlands last year @ Worlds in 10-. He said it was the most fun game he played @ Worlds (and my son lost too!) Both boys sat there, played there cards, pointing to the attacks, powers, etc and both smiling from ear to ear in a great display of SoTG. The young man is RainbowGym's son Jasper :)

There are also 'battle dictionaries' given out to all participants with translations of game terms and other useful phrases in all languages used at Worlds...

Well since I am German and I participated in Worlds 2004 I can tell you how I did it (I'm 15+ btw):
Usually most people know all those commands like, Cut?, Turn!, and so on. As well most of the cards I use and most Germans do to are English cards, since they are cheaper to get =).

Last year all foreign players had big cards in a language-specific color (German had orange, Spain had black, Japan had blue to mention some). If they need a translator they raise their card so that their translator (equipped with a cap in the corresponding color) can spot where a problem is occurring.

Normally, communication should be no problem, if you use hand signs.
