Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worldwide List of National Championships (BRAND NEW UPDATE)

If the lawyers have it right then maybe the way forward is to have open Nationals championships but WITHOUT the trips as prizes.

The local distributor could then award trips to deserving locals.......

Whatever the option could be (still not convinced about that EU law).
I still would go for the same rules Worldwide.
Not only for any EU country, just a model worldwide.

I can also understand the point of view of any LD, " trip has to go to local".
They are paying for it.

But on the other side, closing Nationals without having any "open european championships" (don't mind the name)
is restricting something without creating any comparable.

What I'm thinking about is a few EU tournaments open to all players around Europe.
PUI should be able to sponsor it, they also earn money on any card sold to Europe.
That way Nationals can be real Nationals and anyone who want has some more changes to get trips/invites, but also to meet challenge.

Guys, if EU laws have to be applied for trips, these laws have to be applied to every aspect of the game

I do agree on the idea that PUI should, in coordination with the LD's, give clear rules to be applied everywhere in Europe.
Things would be easier, and nobody would have to discuss these rules anymore.

When I say rules I mean, for example, age groups, prize structure, organization of the events (open/closed), ... and, of course, PUI should IMPOSE these rules to every LD.

This said, when i've seen the first PUI's web page about International premiere events, I remember I had seen Gym Challenges.
In Europe, we had two opportunities to win a trip to Worlds : local players at their Nationals, and any player at GC's.

Now I don't see GC's on the website anymore. Does that mean we'll not have GC's in Europe ?

If it is the case, and sorry if it's out of topic, Europe will be really disadventaged (prizes, invites, ...) compared to the USA. Really more than what I expected and post in an article here on the Pokegym.

If you don't have a Nationals for your age group then lobby for one, help to make one happen or put up and shut up.

Honestly some of you guys are coming off as people who are owed it.

And the idea of lawyers over a kids' card game? Come on, some of you really need to get a life. If you don't like THEIR game and THEIR prize support then go play another game. Sheesh.

Freddy, do you remember what happened a couple of years ago in the UK ? Did you quit Pokemon ?

Like I said so many times, I don't see any reason why European people don't deserve as much as US players taking account of the level of POP in Europe.

Let's organize Worlds in Europe, where European players can go without spending at least 1500 USD ... give ANY European player a chance to play at Worlds

Sure Pokemon is a game, but I'm not afraid or ashamed to say that I play not only for fun but also for prizes.
And to be honest Freddy, the day POP will take the prizes away, you may be sure you'll not see me at tournaments anymore. :nonono:

'bout Worlds outside of USA...
it's nearly impossible (though it's a reasonable wish for all of us :) )
The reason?
Try to compare the player base of USA and the one of the whole Europe, and you'll understand.
Same thing goes for Japan (even if in Japan the TCG has more fame and success, even more of the US success).

We won't see Worlds outside of USA mainly for that.

And, maybe, also because there isn't a Pokémon Europe, Inc.... It's Pokémon USA, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company (Japan).

We are always at the same point: we have a wrong system, but we are not allowd to change it, because decisions aren't influenced by players (maybe, if every single european player tries to go against PUI's decisions... But you understand that it's impossible).

So, we'll continue to have LDs that takes odd and unfair decisions, some that take right decisions; some that goes under PUI rules, some that not.

The ones that hurts directly PUI will be fired, the ones that hurts players, but not directly PUI, won't be fired. See Italy has changed of distributor (the old one hurt PUI directly), and Netherlands has the same one (it hurts players, but not PUI).

My .2 euros

Country: France
Date(s):Sunday 26st June
Who can play: Everyone (but foreign players can't get the trip... I hope it will not lead to another discuss... :p)
Venue: Paris
Trip/Invite prizes: 1 Trip for overall French winner
Format: Sounds like Modified = actually it is modified but EX : Emerald will not be allowed. Don't ask me why... 6 rounds of Swiss followed by match-play (best 2/3) for, if it is needed, the top 4 overall.
More info: www.asmodee.com/pokemon (in French)

I hope I'll see some foreign players, even though they can't get the trip... Stadium in Austria sounds more interesting anyway... And Emerald will not be allowed for French Nationals... That's weird I agree...

Hello , today was the swiss natinals , there are close for people out of sitzerland.
The problem was that 4 guys from Paris are coming. the can't play. it was unlucky for this 4 guys.

How many Swiss Players?

Please, run ALL the Nationals with the same rules and in the same format.

Is it that difficult ???

I don't care of LD's taking decisions, we all play the same game.

I'm surprized a LD has not invented a National with 40 cards in the deck and a 15 cards side deck.

You may play in Germany but not in Switzerland, you play Modified in Belgium but not in France, there are 3 age groups in Holland but only one in other countries, ...

Nice International POP

Hush Michel Hush, you are disrupting International OP, and that's worse than disrupting Dutch OP

Never speak out loud what is not equal international PUI intl will suspend you, they don't like to hear it.

Unfortunately, it appears there will not be a New Zealand nationals this year. It will be combined with the australian nationals, this is all a very sad news for us here and i believe the Croftminister of australia (like LD) which represents the PUI has decided that we shall not get one even though our player base has been increasing here and have a larger gathering than the likes of singapore and Hong Kong and some european countries.....Population ? 3.8 Million

Updating this thread... Spoke today with the French LD, and they said that EX: Emerald WAS allowed... Wonder if it is or isn't allowed?

After speaking with the Dutch LD as well, they confirmed that the Dutch Nationals will be open to everyone (all ages and all countries).

It seems there are quite a few scholarship awards at the Dutch Nationals...

If anyone has any more info/discussion, please post...

So, here's the copy/paste of our French LD website:

Roughly speaking it says that there'll be six swiss rounds (best 2 games out of 3), and if needed a Top4. The allowed sets are also given, and there's no EX : Emerald set allowed...

More info on the French website: www.asmodee.com/pokemon !

France :
lev is right. No Emerald. Hope they'll not change the format 4 days before the event
If they do, nobody will play in that format anyway as 'no Emerald' has been announced for a long time.

Unfortunately, 4 days before the event, no official announcement has been made about the prize support. :nonono:

Holland
If the LD don't change his mind very close to the event like they did last year, here's the info from their website :

Age groups : 10- / 11-14 / 15+
Swiss rounds (min 5 rounds): Game = match .
After swiss :
Top 8 if there are 17-64 spelers/age group
Top 16 if there are 65+ /age group
Single Elimination: Best of 3.

Time : 10:00 venue open
11:00 uur tournament start

Fee : € 15,-
Each player receives a special NC promo, 2 POP serie 1 boosters and a NC badge

Prizesupport: For each age group :
#1: Trophy + invite + trip + scholarship 500 USD + 72 boosters (trip for resident only)
#2 : trophy + invite + scholarship 250 USD + 44 boosters
#3 : Trophy + invite + Scholarship 125 USD + 36 boosters
#4: invite + Scholarship 125 USD + 36 boosters
#5-#8 : 18 Pokémon boosters
#9-#12 : 9 Pokémon boosters
#13-#16 : 5 Pokémon boosters

I do really hope there will be no changes for these two events. Wouldn't be very serious to change the format, prizesupport, ... 4 days (France) or 11 days( (Holland) before the National.

Thanks for the clarification guys, but it's weird that today the person I spoke to as Asmodee said EX: Emerald was allowed...

4. No. The invites will pass to the first Dutch player, however the first placed player will receive the scholarship and other prizes

after asking again ( thought we did not understand each other)
