While everyone in the USA is travelling around to participate in CC’s , States, Regionals, Gym Challenges. There are other players worldwide who are struggling to become a seat at Worlds.
Even struggling to get basic OP.
I read a few topics about “USA players deserve more seats, because they have more players” and I took some time to invest were this could be based upon.

I also will try to explain why the promise “to deliver an equal slate of programs worldwide” is even after almost 2 years POP not realized.
Most of my information can be easily found through the OP website and the websites of the Worldwide Local Distributors/OP providers. There is also influence of my personal experience.

Some keywords for this topic: Equality, arranging OP, conditions.

Equality, what does it mean in basic?
That everyone can buy Pokemoncards and play with them?
That everyone has the same chances to join OP?
That each country who has an OP provider could have leagues and tournaments?
That every player can “earn” the same benefits worldwide?
That every player uses the same set of rules?

First stop to get OP working is promoting and give opportunity to play this game.
Local Distributors worldwide were selected to perform this. Some of those LD’s are running OP themselves others delegated it to third parties.
So basically what could anyone interested in Pokemon TCG expect?

Some leagues to learn playing is the one and only basis to have OP in any country.
Meaby tournament to test skills? Information about Pokemon TCG?
Remember I’m talking about OP and not about selling booster(boxes).

Rules how you could start a league were presented, but international LD’s/OP providers were not obligated to follow those.
There the first inequality occurs.
While in most countries everyone interested and meeting the “starting rules” could start a league and obtain league materials.
There are countries who have introduced extra conditions to start a league.
Why? Meaby those OP Providers convinced POP that for their specific market this was needed.
POP relies on the knowledge of their selected LD’s and agrees on those extra conditions.

POP was 2 years ago a newbie in OP so they had to rely on their “partners” knowledge of local markets.
From business point of view a good decision, but did it worked that way?
I some countries meaby, but in ours NOT. Beside the general extra conditions approved by POP, our OP provider introduced some more conditions who only applied to certain persons.
No logical/business/statistic based conditions, but conditions based on personal preference.
POP was informed about this and did not believe that their “partner” worked this way, Professionals are not letting there personal thoughts, affect their business decisions is what POP stated.
Well if one OP provider is not able to divide personal feelings from facts, it’s overhere.
It even went so far that OP is almost dead because this OP provider is selecting on personal preference and not on results.

I think it’s safe to say, more leagues, more players, more attendance at tournaments.

First stop to check was the league locator.
28 countries appear, and I know of 1 (Portugal) who has leagues but can’t be found in this locator.
Next step, check how many leagues are registered.
Followed by a search on each specific LD’s website to see if those numbers compare.

Than you find some weird things.
Some countries show 1 leagues in the locator, but after a check at their OP providers website I found over 30 leagues.
But most amazing is that some OP providers even don’t have a website with OP information.
The differences are huge. Comparing from really nothing to find about Pokemon TCG/OP, until complete websites with even Message Boards were they answer questions about playing Pokemon TCG.

Not everybody knows about the existence of the OP-tcg.com website.
Anyone interested will first search inside their own country, in their own language.
Most OP providers do have a website with some Pokemon TCG information, but 50% has no link or anything to direct you to leagues (place to play).
So dead end for residents of those countries, how could you find out that Pokemoncards are developed to play a game.

I would say it’s in their own interest to at least have a list of Leagues on their website.
This is were everything starts, at a league.
Also information about how to play Pokemon TCG in a local language would make a nice start.
For me it shows the lack of interest there is from the side of international OP providers.
Basic information is simply not available.

This brings me to another point.
If leagues are not appearing in the locator, how could they obtain league materials?
Inside the US there is a sanction for not reporting league attendance, but outside the US?
For non-english speaking League leaders/organizers it is a problem to navigate on the OP website.
But if POP really wants their OP website being the center of OP, than OP providers should be urged to register all leagues.
(or providing information to their LL how to register).
It not fair to LL’s that can get a sanction if they don’t report, while in other parts of the world, you can run a league and never have to report.
This also undermines the system of tracing players of this game and compare, but I will use numbers I can find to compare.

If I compare total leagues versus residents of a country, than
Malta (2,5)
Finland (1,54)
Singapore (1,22)
have more leagues per million residents than the
USA (1,06)
Shortly followed by
Denmark (0,96)
Norway (0,89)
Costa Rica (0,86)
Guatemala (0,83).
Countries how are performing bad in this way of comparing:
Phillipines (0,01)
Germany (0,02)
Netherlands (0,06)
Italy (0,07)

I couldn’t find the OP provider of Malta, at Malta there are a lot people living on a small surface.
Germany, has much more leagues than found in the locator, so their number would go up (0,38) if those leagues were indeed registered.
Netherlands, what can I say. If the unofficial clubs would be allowed to become leagues they would become a (0,49) in 1 day. And if they would let the “old Fossils’ perform their plan represented September 2003 they would be easily beating the USA numbers.

Is there after 2 years POP an equal slate of programs worldwide.
NO, starting with leagues I would say NO.
Some OP providers are not delivering the basic elements to make any program work.

But there is more to look at, which will be in another topic.
I have so much numbers to compare and you will be entertained.
OP is a combination of Promoting, rules, players, organizers/volunteers and dedication.
If those components are properly mixed you get a healthy OP environment.
If components are missing you get ……….

I don’t have inside information, I tried to find and compare what is general information for public.
