Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Would we be better off with a constant number of legal sets?

dogma's idea of standart and extended (like MTG) is really good.
such thing would avoid an old "problem": people usually offer old cards to small kids or people who are new into the game. simply becuz u also have to keep your cardpool big to build such decks.

a format like 70% playing standart and 30% extended would be nice imo.

Thanks! Yeah, I was using the M:TG model. I know though in M:TG, the two formats appeal to different types of players, which is why you get the following type of question:

But how would you divide OP resources for suc a system? Are some levels at one and some at the other, or do you run two parallel OP tracks?

I honestly don't know Pokémon OP enough to know how to divide the system. Different events can hold different formats, obviously so that if someone only likes one of the formats, they still have enough OP to participate in.

But there are people on this thread that like the FRLG-on format. It's not as broken as Unlimited, and uses cards from the PUI era anyway (if that is an issue), so why not give it a small trial?

Choice is a good thing, when it isn't too confusing. This I don't think will be. If somebody doesn't have a standard legal deck, wouldn't it be great to say 'oh, but you can enter the extended tourney instead?'
