Yveltal "Fight Night"

Veloster

Hi guys,
My son has Yveltal with "Ability: Fright Night - As long as this Pokemon is your active Pokemon, each Pokemon Tool Card in play has no effect."

We were playing the other day and I knocked out his Pokemon and he moved up his Yveltal. My active Pokemon was only still active thanks to a Fighting Fury belt (he had 20 HP left with the FF belt was factored in). This is what we did: My FF belt was no longer good and therefore my Pokemon was knocked out as soon as Yveltal became active. I discarded him and made a new Pokemon active, he drew a prize card, and he continued with his turn. Was this the proper procedure, and if not, what is?

Thanks!

There is a question much like this in the Ask the Rules Team forum so look for an official answer there.

Until then, i would say, yes you played it correct - a player must always have an Active Pokemon. So Yveltal comes up, shuts off all Tool Cards and your Active now gets KOed. He can draw a prize card, you promote your new Active and he can start his turn.
