Zap Zone Versus Clear Humming

Altaria (XY: Roaring Skies 77/108) has the Ability "Clear Humming" that states "Each of your [C] Pokémon has no Weakness." Zebstrika (XY: BREAKpoint 49/122) has the Ability "Zap Zone" which states that "Damage from attacks of your [L] Pokémon isn't affected by effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon." Well, unless I botched my job typing them up.

How do these two Abilities interact? I know from the official rules that Weakness and Resistance are applied even when Zap Zone is in effect, as they are game mechanics and not effects. Zap Zone states it prevents damage from being altered by effects, but Clear Humming doesn't alter damage but the Weakness of Colorless Pokémon. So damage is not being altered, the mechanic that would normally double it is.

Is this a correct understanding? It may sound silly but until I carefully read the cards today I just thought the point of Zap Zone was to get around this and effects like Safeguard. Instead, looks like it is just for the latter.

Thank you for your time!
