This is an opinionated thread. Some of my favorites are:

Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun, Gungrave)
Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto)
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, .hack//SIGN)
Rumiko Takahashi (InuYasha, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkouku, Uresei Yatsura)
Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell)
Hajime Yatate (Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, Infinte Rvyius)
CLAMP (Cardcaptor Sakura, Angelic Layer, XXXholic, X/1999, Tsubasa, Legal Drug, RG Veda, Chobits, Cover, Magic Knight Rayearth (2), Clamp School Detectives, Wish, Clover, Suki: A like Story, Tokyo Babylon, Man of Many Faces, Clamp School Paranormal Investigators, Clamp School Duklyon....alot I know!)

Dude, look at the quality of Akira Toriyama's Mangas.

Sand Land is a great quality manga, even if it is one book long lol.

Also DBZ is kewl (Called Dragonball in the original Manga)
