Should I tech in a 1-1 alakazam for nationals in order to stop them from bright looking my gengar or claydol. I could also just block a Dark Palm or cosmic power aginst a stage 2 deck

Let me be the first to tell you that you will have to send all your good cards to the discard pile and have nothing left with to battle.

Only way to know for sure is by playesting a lot and see how helpful it is.

In theory, I agree with ^.

I don't think Cursegar lists can afford the discard.

Yes, but make sure that you can draw more cards to make up for the lost two - perhaps Professor Oak's Visit?

Cursegar runs claydol....You don't need to alazakzam everything. I'd be perfectly happy to discard 10 cards to know my opponent wouldn't get a single uxie/bright look off in a game.

Well I think it's a great idea! Someone on the gym ran a 2-0-2 Alakazam and they did good! Lol. I love your name. There's Mother Gengar (Nidoqueen), Duskgar, and why not a Gengazam?

EDIT: What a fail name

2 Mimes, 1-0-1 Alakazam, end of story.

^Exactly. I like Zam in Cursegar a lot. It just helps the Jumpluff, LG, and Dos matchups that much more. Trick is getting it out early. When I played it, I just discarded uneeded cards for that matchup like Azelfs and extra Spiritmbs. It's worth it, IMHO.

yeah, and if anything, i'd say it's EASIER for cursegar to dump useless cards from its hand.

I like Alakazam a LOT. I haven't gotten it to work yet, but if you can, more power to you.
