many have criticized steelix prime since UL was released because of its high attack cost and high retreat cost. Steelix is awful by itself but in a deck what many call helix it can be very powerful. with the ablilt to heal any damage it can be a major pain. it is a big problem for luxchomp because luxchomp relies on cheap KOs while steelix prime heals away the damage luxchomp puts out make luxchomp work fo its prizes.
Steelix prime is also a pain for luxchomp because of it body and control over stadiums along with special metal energies. thanks to its body steelix prime can not be affected by special conditons. It is the end for crobat prime because it can't be poisoned and its resitent to psychic. It can not be affected by crobat g or toxicroakg the promo or the non-promo.
Thanks to its ablitiy to control stadiums it is also very strong since it can use its opponent BTS against it then discard it so they can't use it. Special metal is anouther thing keeping steelix prime alive. Because special metal reduces damage if you have 4 special metal on steelix prime and garchomp c attacks it will only do 40 damage before they use chancey to heal it bring the damage down to 20:eek: .it would take more than 7 turns at that rate to konck out steelix.

questions:

Q: how do i run helix?
A: you run it with chancey PL, poke healer SF, flicities GE, and warps about 4 since pretty much every thing in steelix has a big retreat cost.

Q: how does steelix do in todays crazy format?
A: Steelix has done well at some battle raods. its just not as popular with some people. For those of you who don't know there is a senior using steelix prime in the chicago land area and is are doing very well. steelix prime has won him at least 2 battle roads already and he has gone undefeated 11-0.

Q: what problems does steelix have?
A; steelix has only a few problems but they are very big and are easy to see. One is the retreat cost of all the things played in it so if you can bright look up something then kill its claydol so it does not get any warps you should be able get an advantage. the special metal: if you can discard the energy it should be able to attack. its weakness to fire is its problem since everything new now has x2 if it meet blazeray it should have a problem.

Blaziken melts your face off, and a lot of people are teching this in to there sp decks.

ERL is getting teched into a lot of Luxchomps and that murders Steelix.

It's a shame really cos I actually like the card a lot and think it has decent potential.

ERL also melts his face off :P. And once one is knocked out, it takes a while to get another.

It is also really susceptible to sniping during set up.

Blaziken = scary

However many Luxchomps donīt play :fire: energy which they need to do dmg to steelix prime.

if you think there will be alot :fire: decks or techs you can play bubble coat or explud sv. You can also tech in some :water: pokemon.(maybe gdos because you play cards which discard cards from your hand? )

My friend made a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOYlADU00WM) detailing his Steelix deck and I tell you that it was brutal playing against with Sablelock when it gets setup.

If you're playing Sablelock and you let any deck get set up, it's tough to beat..

(coughs) well, I think it's a good thought. Just needs some sidekicks to get it up and running. Like that exploud that drops weakness on your side. Now no burn off.

Anyways, I think this is a Garchomp C counter. Link (http://pokegym.net/forums/view.php?pg=tcgsearchcard&imageid=48200) If not a sp killer already. :p

You lose to ERL, and that's reason enough not to even consider this card. It's even less playable next year due to the lack of Claydol and the fact that Lost Remover is coming out. Sorry, Steelix... ILY, but maybe next time.

How are you going to kill Luxrays who have resistance?
Torterra heals much better than Steelix, but the UL one is not used that much against Luxchomp because it can't deal OHKOs.

Because against Torterra they have enough other targets.

what does steelix prime do against shuckle?

Nah, I think Steelix is too vulnerable to disruption to really run competitively.

*Healix. Just had to get that out. Good deck is good, but can't OHKO Luxray or Gyarados, which hurts.
