Alright - i am going to give a lot of back story here.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire added ribbons to a Pokemon. They did just about nothing - i see them like Achievements like on the Xbox360 or Trophy's on PS3.

Since Pokemon Colosseum came out, my running goal was to get the most ribbons on a single Pokemon as possible. The obvious choice was Shadow Smeargle from Pokemon Colosseum. Shadow Smeargle had the unique ribbon from purifying it back to normal - there was one in the bag.
Then keeping it under level 50 got me the Level 50 Battle tower ribbon.

After i got those 2, i could now train Smeargle to be competitive. Quickly following Level 50 battle tower was Effort, Champion, Mt Battle 100-Straight, and Level 100 battle tower ribbons.

Then the daunting task of contests came to the plate. Luckily at this time, emerald came out and the Berry master was my best friend. After a bit of practice - i was able to actually PLAY along with the berry master, and that is when i threw in the berries you can purchase from Pokemon Colosseum. Being able to play along with the master got me EXTREMELY high level Pokeblocks - keeping all of Smeargles contest stats equal.

That being said, i then went on to get master rank in all the contests in addition to the Portrait ribbon thanks to Smeargle learning ANY move in the game. At this point i think i am done with a whopping 27 Ribbons on my Smeargle.

Then, something that would test my sanity - Pokemon Diamond and Pearl came out. With a whole new set of ribbons to get onto my Smeargle.

At first, i thought to myself: "I already got the contest ribbons - i won't have to get those again". But i was wrong. I had to start all over on the contests. Thankfully the stats where set in stone, and no need for mixing poffins. So i get to Master rank on the contests AGAIN with Smeargle netting me another 20 ribbons. I went through the Elite Four getting another champion ribbon, got the "Daily Ribbon" getting me seven more, and the footprint ribbon.

It is at this point that i go to the resort area - and get welcomed with open arms. The ribbon Syndicate requires 10 ribbons - i had 55. More than enough to qualify. It is here where i got the Gorgeous, Royal, and Gorgeous Royal ribbons. 58 ribbons now.

Now the only thing standing between me and ribbon history was the Sinnoh battle tower.
Ability and Great Ability where fairly easy only needing 49 wins through the tower. Double ability and then World ability where next on the list, followed by Pair ability.

It is at this point i am sitting at 64 ribbons, and the sweet flavor of victory is almost here. Only 1 more ribbon - Multi ability. Little did i know that Multi ability would be Smeargle's kryptonite.

For those of you who do not know, to get the Multi ability ribbon - you must get 50 wins in double battles, but with a CPU partner. With this - making the choice of who i would be paired with is crucial. The slightest slip up will make me have to start all over. After a couple of fumbles getting to 20-30 wins, i finally get to the 40+ range. But it is at this point that the opponents are very strong - but this whole time, your partners to not getting any stronger or smarter. It is basically two vs. one. After months of trying and getting up around 40 wins and then failing because of my partner - i quit on this ribbon, at least for now.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver came out and added ONE ribbon (Thank goodness) and the golden leafs. I got the crown just for kicks onto Smeargle, and then beat Red to get the Legend Ribbon.

So - with all this work and effort i have put into this very lovely Smeargle, i am short just one ribbon to make it complete.

Here is a quick recap of the ribbons this lovely Smeargle has:

WOW! that's pretty awesome...

but you don't have classic ribbon on it :P which means you're actually two ribbons short.

would love to know which attacks and stuff you used for the different contest, but i quess you won't tell me as i might just copy your achievement and then it wound't be as extraordinary...

good luck on getting your smeargle finished though :D

Wow- nice ribbon set! The best I have is 54 on my mystry Mew.
As far as the total ribbons, I count 82.
Serebii-game mechanics- scroll down to ribbons in the dropdown, displays all the ribbons.
As far as to my understanding, you want the ribbon awarded for wi-fi battle tower level 50 double battle.
Link up with a commrad and take on a 50 win streak in the wi-fi.
I have only once battled in the tower via wifi with vaporeon a couple of months ago ( right aroung the gl period) when we attempted to battle wifi with 4 players. The only option via wifi is to battle and team up with a friend to battle the Frontier.
I am sure that you and a friend will have no problem earning the ribbons.
Hope this helps.
(now to add another ribbon to mew, defeat red! And Mew is "banned" from the tower :(

Nice, the multi-ability should be pretty easy. Im trying to do something similar, and so far I have 48 of them so far.

I cannot have any of the GBA or gamecube ribbons if i have classic. that is 26 ribbons to trade off for one. Not happening.

82 TOTAL, not 82 possible. Like i said above, you cannot have Classic and the GBA or Gamecube ribbons. There are other event ribbon exclusive to Japan that i cannot obtain at all (2004 finalist?)

66 is the maximum any single pokemon can have - trust me, i have done my homework on this.

And i already have to PAIR ability (Doubles with a friend) - i need doubles with the CPU. I even stated this in the first post.

Nice, the multi-ability should be pretty easy. Im trying to do something similar, and so far I have 48 of them so far.

No no no - Multi is NOT easy. It is like playing with a two year old as a partner. I have tried for months and still no luck.

sorry that I miss understood. Have you battled using the "barrowable" companions like Rily or Buck for double battle matches?

sorry that I miss understood. Have you battled using the "barrowable" companions like Rily or Buck for double battle matches?

Yeah - they are all i can use. Riley, Cheryl, Buck, Mira, and Marley are the only choices i have.
The problem is that these partners lack AI - they like to use support moves like helping hand and VERY rarely attack on their own. In addition, their Pokemon ALWAYS change, so i can never plan around them when it comes to battles.

ok i have an idea use 4 different pokemon that makes your win streak i think (it's 7 battles per set) 42. then sub one pokemon for Smeargle. Make sure you have Smeargle on the last pokemon in your party then. fight your way to number 49. win that battle. then you win that battle then you got the ribbon

I already save my Smeargle for the final ribbon set. It is nothing new to me. And it is bring TWO pokemon, not four. I bring two and my NPC partner brings two.

The opponents get stronger and smarter, but your NPC partner does not. Getting up to 40 is hard enough because both of the opponents will attack my pokemon while my partner spams light screen over and over even weather there is one already or not. It is quite literally two (Opponent) vs one (me).
People already complain about the regular battle tower one vs. one - try doing two vs. one + some occasional help.

Sometimes my NPC partner stabs me in the back by using Eartquake or Explosion - getting the KO on me.

Mostly Riley, because if i go with buck - his regi's will use explosion on me. Instead i get earthquake from Riley - but that is manageable.

I have tried everybody equally for a long time and still no success. I get the farthest with Riley though.

Great Job!! i have been trying the same thing with a blaziken, but without the gamecube ribbons as i dont have a cable. i might just try this with a smeargle and try to get all 64 ribbons
Also, do you only have one chance to get the legend ribbon? or can you re-battle red after you have defeated him once???

Yes i have. Does not work as well as you would think. I need a team to get me up to the 49 battle point, THEN bring smeargle for the final battle and hope for the best.

Gengar? Levitate bypasses Earthquake. Ghost-type bypasses Explosion. Timid boosts Speed.

Bronzong also has Levitate. High defenses to withstand Explosion. Can also use Explosion itself.

Right now here is smeargle's moveset:
-Dark Void
-Fake Out
-Protect
-Icy Wind

But, like i have said - any help getting to the 40+ area - with or without smeargle. Smeargle just has to be in that 50th battle to get the ribbon.

^ battling in the tower to test out two Pokies: Garch and Starmie. Successful so far. I Have not used Buck or Rialy.
I have paired with both Rialy and Buck, and the battles were more 1vs3 ( Rialy or Bucks Pokie) in my favor, and they have been useless or annoying.
Thus, causing me losses at the 30+ mark.
Working on varieations of hold items for my pokies. (Rialy and Buck make some hold items work against me)
But, results for NOT pairing with Buck or Rialy have been best results so far.
( now working on results for battles past 32 ( i shut it off to record the results and making a small chart)
But- so far Starmie and the Garch ( wow, rereading < that makes it seem like a lame tv show...) holding life orb and wise glasses has had the best payoff's yet.

Been there and done that for my female Shadow Smeargle, Artemis. Major congratulations on getting it done for your own. It definitely isn't easy. Did you have multiple GBAs to help you mix the initial PokeBlocks?

And I ended up using:
-Dark Void
-Fake Out
-Protect
-Shadow Force

It was mostly a matter of hoping to get lucky, and it eventually worked out.

I need two Pokemon - smeargle or not - to get to battle 49.
So, unless you would choose smeargle over things like garchomp, latios, and other great Pokemon - that's fine.

I am looking for two (2) pokemon with movesets that will get me to battle 49. Any two that can go into the tower.

I do NOT need movesets for smeargle - i need movesets for any two pokemon to get me to the point to use smeargle.

Gengar: Black Sludge
ablitity: Levitate
~ Sludge Bomb
~ Focus Blast
~ Shadow Claw
~ Dark Pulse

2nd pokemon

Politoad: Leftovers
Ablitiy Damp
~ Bounce
~ Blizzard

kk- some pokies that do well in getting at least 42 wins have been:

Garchomp:
Eq
Shadow claw
Outrage
Brick Break

Froslass:
Destony Bond
Blizzard
Ice Shard
Omnimous Wind

Starmie:
Surf
G Knot
Psychic
Ice beam

Azelf:
T bolt
Psychic
flamethrower
Energy ball

I have been tinkering around with the pairings as to the pokie choices such as Garch and Starmie, then Froslass and Garch ect.....
Hold items have been swicthed around.....
And choosing a cpu partner has been proving to be ABSERD- NO AI IS THIS INCOMPITANT
SERIOUSLY-

Even though you have 5 cpu partners to choose from, finding the one that has the best possable pokies to actually work with you vs against you does not happen often. If your partner has pokies that will work with you, it seems that the AI somehow works against you IN THE WORST WAY- such as an example with Garch and Forslass- the partner pokie is Arodactal- Ice shard from opponant, by-by Garch.
2nd turn. Arodactal down. And Froslass gets "crit hit"'d by some move from opponant pokie that SOMEHOW is faster then Froslass ( hmmmmm, quick claw, any one? Which seems to happen ALOT)

It would be easier to have a friend assist in this quest, because at least you and your friend can communicate and prep teams/stratagy

But-
The above mentioned pokies have been proving to be giving the best results so far, and if anyone can find an awesome winning combinationation with the above pokies and succeeds in obtaining the 50 win streak-
Let me know!

Good luck in this quest Ulti, if I manage to get lucky or find a great combo of pokies/moves/hold items-
I will relay the info.
But, with this- I say sweet accomplishment on the Smeargle that has more decorated ribbons then a Gym Leader War General.:thumb:

^ it is suprising how well Froslass works.
I will say that this task CAN be done.
Luck Will have a play in it.
Skill alone is 99% of getting this done.
The luck is in the crit hit/ hold item/ and IF-IF- (stressing "if")- IF your AI partner will actually be of some use.
I leave the 1% reserve for your AI partner. ( for that is what it is worth :)- )

kk- here are two pokies that got me 44 wins-
Azelf and Garchomp.
If you want the natures/stats/move set/hold items- pm me.

I was in the 45th match (like right at the start when the first pokies come onto the feild), and had to close the DS. I was not able to resume play, as my ds did not apperently have enough battery life, and thus causing the win streak to end.

I have noticed however that having Azelf be the first pokie out out did the performance vs. having sending out Garch got me way better results.

Also. I noticed that having choosing different team members selected vs. having using the same partner trainer ( like selecting buck ( example) 2 x's got me more losses. So- do not select the same trainer consecutivly.

I am also finding that the opponent "trick room" team shows up in the 4th set.

I was stopping at 42 wins ( as I was making it there frequently ) to find some good pokies for this mission. The Azelf and Garch team was the first time going past the 42 win mark, and I am now retrying to get back to the 45th battle.

so- as it stands at the moment, Azelf and Garchomp have been the most successful and reliable with the best consistant win streak.

@ninjask88- meant to reply to your q above- the ai is the same as it is in pl/plt/dia. It is the issue of not being able to control the AI that makes this mission a real test as it is RETARDED--- I mean, "One of the greatest things Gamefreak implemented in the series to date....... " <_< >_> <_<

@ ulti- yeah, tough it is, and trying my patients as well when I get a loss due to the AI's idiocy.
I should invent a word for this in the video game lingo.......
vidAIcy, maybe?

Oh- and the move sets on both Pokies are mixed all out attacks- no boosting.

kk-
SO- I am currently sitting on 56 wins. ( Thanks to a little insomnia and determination.)

Not sure how I can prove this. But, I am hopeing my reputation will suffice.
Other then trading over the two Pokies to you Ulti so you can see the ribbons.

I have had seriouse trial and error, and have never taken on this task.
Besides the regular 100 win streak in the tower, this was not easy task to do.

The effort has paid off. 56 wins and going. I think I will try to get 100 wins.

Here is some tips for those who want to accomplish this task.

Do not use the same trainer teammate consecutivly. It leads to failure. No joke.
Do not "set up"- I did all out attack moves. Setting up was really "setting back".
Do not have two pokies that share the same type.
Have one pokie be a single type, while the other is dual type.
Do not bother with status infliction moves or weather, as your teammate will do all that for you randomly and mess up your plan- besides, I was never "setting up" anyways.
Pokie move sets should cover a wide range of "super effective" - avoid moves that are "exclusive" to cover only one weakness.
Have one strong physical fighter and one specail fighter. You will run into opposition that will wall you.

POINT AND LAUGH AT THE AI IGNORANCE! It makes this task fun.

So- The pokies I mentioned above are good canidates to use. If anyone really wants to know the Pokies I used, ask me via pm.

I WILL NOT tell you the move sets/hold items/ or the specific stats/natures.
Just letting you know two good pokies to "trial and error" on your own to get the task done is for you to get the reward on your own.

I will admit that some luck and seriouse sweating (hay- the AI will make ya sweat- no joke) went into this mission.

Have fun, it can be done.

Ulti- good luck man, as it is a task that does involve skill and luck- all I can offer now is the advice above.
