I want to have a a competitive eeveelution, in my collection of pokemon but I'm having trouble deciding which one to pick. I've heard many different opinions in the past with many different strategies. Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced!

Vaporeon is the most useful. Water Absorb, Leftovers, and wish combined with its defenses and HP make for a nice tank. Great move pool too. Icy wind, wish, surf/hydro pump, and protect are the most common i see.
Flareon is junk. Nothing to go with it's amazing attack stat.
Jolteon is alright - fast and good Sp.Atk, but it's move pool lacks. It gets thunder/bolt and shadow ball, and that is about it.
Umbreon is another tank. Wish, Toxic, Confuse Ray, Protect with leftovers makes it a tough thing to KO.
Espeon. Meh. Alright move pool, but it is out classed by Vaporeon and Jolteon.
Leafeon - Great attack and defense, but it is weak to attacks that are mainly Special. Leaf Blade is the best attack it gets. Yawn can get you a turn to get swords dance. Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, Swords Dance, Yawn is a nice set.
Glaceon. Slow, but very powerful. You should take advantage of either trick room to make up for glaceons speed, hail for snow cloak - or both. Blizzard/Ice beam are a given. Signal beam/shadow ball for coverage. Blizzard/Ice beam, Signal beam/Shadow ball, double team, protect is my best guess for glaceon, seeing how i never played him.

Hope that helps!

Vaporeon: Potent wall/bulky water. Ultimatedra summarized well.

Jolteon: Fantastic scout. Knowledge is power. Substitute + Baton Pass on the highest Base Speed in OU = awesome.

Espeon: Decent calm mind passer, difficult to use and outclassed by others but has a use.

Umbreon: Outclassed as a tank but worthy of mention as one.

Leafeon: Swords Dance, good Speed, high Def, high Attack, physical STAB, <3. Good in UU.

Glaceon: Sad story is sad. She is good though I swears.

Flareon: EPIC FAIL

I have to disagree on how to use Umbreon. The best set I've found is Sassy with Rest/Sleep Talk/Curse/Payback. Sure, you have to watch out for Ape/Scizor/Lucario/Skarm, but that's about it, and Ape won't like coming in on Paybacks.

Also, Umbreon is definitely overlooked for its walling capabilities. Yes, there's Vaporeon, but its stats are 130/60/95 for HP and both defenses while Umbreon is 95/110/130. So typing is a factor, and so is the movepool and ability, but I have had success with Umbreon as a wall with Careful/Sucker Punch/Wish/Protect/Toxic, or throw Pursuit in there instead of Toxic or Sucker Punch.

Once we get the new ability set from Black & White, Vaporeon will be beast. Rest + Instant wake in rain = THE THING THAT WOULDN'T DIE. RD teams will LOVE it, and everyone else will cry.

Why wait? He wanted strategy now, so we should give the options available now.

Side note is side:
Eevee can be hit easily, but I love it's Adaptability ability. :p Pushing STAB from 50% increase to 100% increase.

Also for the new abilities for some of the eevelutions, I know Vaporeon will be sweet, but I also like the idea of Jolteon with Levitate! (no weakness X3)

fo r VGC's this year i LAST MINUTE switched vaporeon for palkia. (it really helped!!) But still, vaporeon is a beast, go with him, the downside is that he's OU.

^But he's OU for a reason. I think out of the Eevee Evs Vaporeon is the best competitively. Jolteon in second, maybe Umbreon in third.

(Still waiting to find out what the other 5 abilities from Labyrinth/Dream world are... My sister and I got Flareon & Umbreon, so if nothing's leaked until you can download at least we'll know 2 more.)

Wait, what's Umbreon's ability from there? I haven't heard anything except for Vaporeon and a rumor about Jolteon getting Motor Drive.

Espeon should be above Umbreon due to her prowess in OU/BL as a Calm Mind passer.

Umbreon is a fantastic Cursepasser though.

@Pikamaster: The only ones we know are Vaporeon (Hydration) and Glaceon (Ice Body). Other than that, there are only rumours.

Oh, and for those who wondered, the Eevee ev you got was the same type as whatever Starter you chose for the Labyrinth. Catching them in the Labyrinth didn't matter, what you ran into didn't matter, how far you got didn't matter. >.< So you could essentially have signed in, picked a starter, waited for it to autosave, and not touched it for a month. >.< GREAT planning.

@Kayle: That was the reason for the 'maybe'. >.< I couldn't decide if Umbreon or Espeon should get the bronze medal.

Flareon's defense is its lowest stat.... It uses Flare Blitz once and it'll be OHKOed.

Ah, but Flareon also gets Curse and Wish. That's always a possible combo.

Give it Leftovers (or a shell bell?) and use it with Choice Scarf, switch in and out for sudden, massive KOs.

Weakness to stealth rock makes it hard to use in OU, but it's better than what it has now.

I forgot about this post, and there's one problem here. Anyone see it? No? The problem is that Flareon can't learn Flare Blitz! The best it can learn is Fire Fang/Last Resort.

I have a whole team of shiny eeveelutions, so I'll give you some tips.

Glaceon is AWESOME with Choice Specs. 1-hit-KO's almost anything.

Umbreon is my most reliable, knowing Toxic, Moonlight, Protect, and Payback. :thumb:

Vaporeon is good, a bit slow and vulnerable to physical attacks.

Jolteon is terrific, quite fast and powerful. Thunder Wave anything that get's in your way,

Espeon is good as well. Not much to say here.

Leafeon is the one I use the least in battles. Swords Dance + Leaf Blade is brutal, but hard to set up with leafeons so-so defenses. :frown:

Leafeon's so-so defenses? Leafeon has Base 130 physical defense. You must be doing something wrong

I meant special defenses; also, grass types have a lot of weaknesses as well.

Okay, that makes a little more sense.

You would normally set up a Swords Dance sweeper by switching them into a Pokemon they can take a hit from and/or threaten a KO against, then proceeding to use Swords Dance when they switch out to avoid that KO. While that is an optimal scenario, I can still see it working out with Leafeon in some rare instances. In OU, she probably would scare Dugtrio, though it may know some weird bug move or something I don't know about.

Jolteon. Sub/Peteya/HP Ice/Grass is amazing. Vaporeon is a close econd, but it competes with Swampert a lot, so it all depends on the team ya know.

Like I said, pick one you like. I've also been playing my Eevee team online a lot and have some videos to post on youtube. I'll get those up and post the links here so you guys can have options. There is more then 1 way to use a Eevee.

Once the Hydration Vaporeon comes out, it'll be a beast.

Vaporeon@Damp Rock
Rain Dance
Rest
Ice Beam/HP Grass
Surf/HP Grass

It'll last forever. Only problem I can see is only two attacking moves means you'll be missing type coverage.

With RD Support:
@??? (Not sure what Item to put)
Rest
Ice Beam
HP Grass
Surf

Or you could go for something more annoying:
@????
Rest
Toxic
Protect
Surf

It'd probably outlast the rain, though. :/ Hmmm.

Vaporeon and Jolteon are pretty much the only ones competitive at least within OU; Vappy is a great wall, and Jolteon is great at KOing stuff with its excellent base 130 Spe and nice SpA. Moving down the ladder, Umbreon sometimes sees OU, but mostly lies below I think, it's another solid tank, but it just suffers from something...Espeon is good in UU, I personally like it over Alakazam due to its bulk, but it loses out in the Spe department by quite a bit. From there on, everything else is pretty much avoided...Glaceon sees occasional use on Hail teams, Leafeon lacks a good supporting movepool, and until Flareon gets Flare Blitz, it's sadly useless.
