View Full Version : Expansion: Super Mario RPG
After talking to some people, we finally decided to make a new expansion. This one is based on Super Mario RPG. Here are the main characters:
*Mario- Obviously, the main character of the story. Pokemon recommended for him should be in relation to Fire type pokemon.
*Mallow- Mario's new friend. Has the ability to create Thunderstorms and Blizzards. Pokemon recommended for him should be Lightning and Water Pokemon.
*Geno- Originally called something we still don't know (maybe a swear word? who knows). Main skills involve using speical beam attacks. Recommended Pokemon should be related to colorless pokemon and Grass types with a Fire weakness.
*Bowser- Mario's enemy. Some attacks in the game involve summoning creatures to the battlefield and poison gas. Recommended pokemon should be Grass types that have a Psychic weakness and Fighting type pokemon.
*Peach- Mario's dream date (if he ever gets the chance  ). Main skills include Reviving and Healing the party. Recommended pokemon should include Colorless and Psychic pokemon with healing attacks.
*Smithy- The main enemy in the game. Has the ability to transform from a human form to a robot form. Recommended pokemon should be the BBPs or dragon-related Pokemon.
Now here are the rules:
-All Pokemon from R/B/Y to R/S/? are allowed
-Each "Leader" must have a trainer of each type (Technical Machines are optional)
-Different versions are allowed. However, unlike Gym Leaders and Gym Challenge, One "Leader" cannot have two versions of the same pokemon.
Ex: Leader 1 has a Charmander. Leader 2 has a Charmander. This kind of thing is allowed.
-If you are gonna give the cards strong attacks, the attack must have a negative consequence. Ex: (C)(C)(C)(C) Hyper Beam- (PKMN) cannot attack during your next turn. 100
-No insulting of other cards
Well, those are the rules. So go out there and start making those cards.

I just had a great idea! Here it is:
Mario's Blaziken
110 HP- Stage 2
Type: Fire
(Can we make up the Poke-Powers as well?)
Poke-Power: Energy Donation: As often as you like during your turn (before you attack), move a Fire energy card attached to one of your Pokemon to Blaziken.
That Pokemon takes 10 damage. (This power can't be used if Blaziken is Asleep, Paralyzed, or Confused.)
(Fire) (Fire) (Fire) (Fire) Fire spin- Flip a coin. If heads, attack again. (The maximum amount of coin flips is 6.) 20X
(Fire) (Fire) (Colorless) Fire punch- Does 50 damage minus 10 damage for every 2 damage counters placed on Blaziken.
Weakness: (Water)
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: (Colorless) x 2
How'd you like it?
Pretty good card, but since this feels similar to charizard, edit the card so that it only has one attack and so that it looks like this:
(R)(R)(R)(R) Fire Spin- Discard 2 (R) energies in order to use this attack. 100
Also, for the Poke-Power, try adding a negative effect like "For every (R) energy attached in this way, place one damage counter on Mario's Blaziken"
Pikachu Mage
09/28/2003, 11:36 AM
Yea, I agree about the Poke Power, but I want the Fire Spin on the card to be more like the Pokemon Stadium's Fire Spin. And I like variety.
Anyways, here's another one:
Mario's Typhlosion
100 HP- Stage 2
Type: Fire
(Fire) (Fire) Fire hoop- The Defending Pokemon is Burned, and can't retreat until the end of the turn. 30
(Fighting) (Fighting) (Fighting) (Fighting) Dynamicpunch- Flip a coin. If heads, then the Defending Pokemon is confused. If tails, then the attack does nothing. 100
Weakness: (Water)
Resistance: Grass (-30), Steel (-30)
Retreat cost: (Colorless) (Fire)
Meh, not too good. :(

How do you make a card?
dkates
10/02/2003, 08:02 AM
If you want to know how to make one well, I'd have to write an article, which would mean a new thread. Maybe I'll do that sometime. But to make a card at all? Choose a Pokemon, give it HP, Type, Weakness, Resistance, and Retreat Cost. Then, create its Pokemon Power (if you give it one -- you don't have to) and attack(s) (up to 2, usually, although you can do 3 if there's no Power and you really want to).
Basically, just look at the ones that dkates and I created. You show the name of the card (in this case, its in Gym Hero/Challenge name format), the HP (any pokemon with 130+ HP must have 2 weaknesses), energy costs, attacks, and retreat costs.
