Catching R/B/Y Bird Trio; Need help with a problem.

I've caught 1 and 2, but Moltres seems to be a real grouch. I'm in Yellow, btw.

Stories:

Articuno

Saved, then tried to catch with Great Balls. In red, with LV 53 Pikachu up, but ran out several times.
then wait a few weeks. Have LV. 56 Pika, and catch on red with 2nd Great Ball. Simple.

Zapdos

Saved, then got it to red and threw Ultras. LV. 57 Pika, but they "missed." Threw Master Ball to get
it over with.

Moltres

Saved, got to yellow and red at varoius tries and threw Ultras with a 58 Pika. "Missed." Then I paused
to ask this.

Q: Why are the Ultra Balls missing Moltres like they were with Zapdos? Or, what do I have to do to
make sure they don't "miss?" More importantly, why are they missing?

In Generation I games, there was always a possibility that the Poké Ball would miss a Pokémon, usually occurring when battling in the Safari Zone, or while battling a wild Chansey, Snorlax, or legendary Pokémon. Rather than the ball throwing animation playing, a message would come up stating "You missed the Pokémon!".

In other words - It happens. Keep trying. Think of it as added difficulty.

Yes, that helps, but I haven't landed a single ball on Moltres yet! Every time I throw it, it misses.
How does 1 explain that?

I guess for your bad luck, some guy in Vegas is having good luck. Thats the best i can come up with.

Maybe.

I'm just letting my Pika or Zappy take Fire Spins while I throw ball after ball, but nothing comes up.

I always heard that the legendaries had that ball missing message more if they weren't affected by a status condition. I remember having 30 Pokeballs miss in a row when I was trying to catch Mew with the Teleport glitch.

Put Moltres to sleep. Then your Ultra Balls should never miss.

I am sure he is playing the game for aesthetic reasons, so i believe he is playing a clean game. Why remove difficulty when that is what made it fun?

I play Red and get like all l100s with good moves tho.
