EXs, Some love them  some hate them :nonono: , whatever your view, which EX in EX Deoxys do you think will be heavily played? And why? What strategy revolves around that specific EX and what pokemon work well to crush opponents? Discuss...

Crobat EX, free retreat, 130 HP (140 HP + low pressure) Pester possible 100, Distortion poke-power
play with Dark Cro/ Cro up to u. Mayb evn with Dark Sandslash or Cacturne (SS) The trick is to affect enemy with spcial condition n smash 4 100 (works gr8t with Dark Cro this way) If opponnt retreats, just distortion them. Or ATM (rock) next turn. Use Gorebyss along with it mayb

Hi hiddenlegion,

Based on what i have been hearing, Crobat EX and Deoxys EX (attack) are the 2 most viable pokemon EX of EX Deoxys that will see much gameplay.
As you have stated, Crobat EX works wonders with Dark crobat, ensuring one hits for 100 damage each turn.
While for Deoxys EX (attack), it goes along really well with the new Metagross and can do massive damage based on energies attached to the defending pokemon.
The 2 new Dragon EXs released are also one of the many hot topics of EX Deoxys: Rayquaza EX and Salamence EX
Both can do whooping ammounts of damage but require a variety of energies attached to see their maximum potential. To some they are easy to use, to others, they just seem overrated.

Tric EX with TA Lanturn and TA Tric = 80 anyone every turn, but you need a lot of Lightning Energy....maybe use DR Magneton?

ATK Deoxys Ex works well with the new Metagross

Crobat ex/Dark Crobat this was my idea =P

Hi Dom Jordan,

Don't really understand how does Team Aqua's Lanturn work well with Manectric EX (doesnt it damage Manectric EX when you retrieve of search out the Lightning energies  ) But hitting anything for 80 for 3 energies every turn is indeed devastating. I also remembered seeing one person list it with the new Manectric as well.

Dragons are becoming useless as they meet a tool called crystal shard that even kills Salamence EX.

Hi joehardyreturns,

Yes i agree with your statement. The Crystal Shard practically spells D-O-O-M to all dragons, including Dark Dragonite.
What do you guys think of the box topper Rocket's Raikou EX?

TA Lanturn uses its power (Auxillary Light I think) to drop an energy onto itself. TA Manectric moves it to Manectric ex. Its kind of like BAR but from hand, but Magneton can get round that.

It does not hurt Manectric ex, it hurts TA Lanturn (in that way it will work like Magma). So its kind of like a cross between FS and Magma, with long range lightning lashes :)

Crobat ex, IMO, would work better with Triple Poison b/c that Crobat has free retreat while Dk Bat has that nasty retreat of 1. I'm currently working on a disruption deck focusing on those two. It'll be fun to see how it works out!!!

Dom

Crobat ex/Crobat (Triple Poison) does not work. The whole point is that you want to afflict with a special condition and hit for 100 on the same turn. HL Crobat takes 2 turns with Crobat ex.

Dark Crobat you use the power (the retreat doesn't matter since you have to use a Switch anyway), use the power, switch send out Crobat ex hit for 100.

Otherwise it becomes a very slow and useless deck =/

crystal shard doesnt hurt draggy that bad. You dont attack with him. Just use Sneasel and Dark Electrode to attack and maybe draggy to grab the final prize.
Sally is slow IMO, Crobat will be really good, but can it beat draggy? Who knows.. We will just have to wait till states...

I know i'll be called crazy, but I really love the new Ray ex. It could work(If crystal shard would not have benn thought of). They should make a shard for all weknesses. Just think how crazy that deck would be.You could play anything with 4 of each shard!

dude, CrEX/Dark Crobat is great for 2-on-2. but i saw that CrEX/Triple Poison Does Work Better In Single Play.

Still testing...

I got to say, that Rex for this set can be very good, and i've built a deck that is built on getting it turn 2.

From what I've seen, Crobat EX, Manectric EX, and Salamence EX are goin to be the big ones in the next format, in that order of power. Crobat seems to be the best one coming out of the new set, with Manectric right on his heels cuz of weakness. Salamence just combos well with alot of cards, so he's ok, but the deoxys I don't think will be as big as everyone said they would be.

I'd really like to find a use for Sharpedo ex seeing as somehow I pulled three at the prerelease...? But yeah, Deoxys Attack and Crobat will have the biggest impact on the format. Salamence ex is much too slow IMO.

well, zapdos is not going anywhere and it pwns crobat ex so bad its not even funny. its an auto loss if zapdos gets set up. I don't see crobat ex being as great as some say but it is great if you don't have to deal with zapdos.

I like that idea. Ruby Shard(for Fire type), Sapphire Shard(for Water), Emerald Shard(for Grass), etc.

Hi all,

Wow! Everyone has different opinions of the new EXs and interesting and deadly combos i see here. IMHO, i ahree with most people in saying that Salamence EX will be slow and Crobat EX/Dark Crobat can be nasty. I myself like the upcoming Deoxys EX Attack with the new Metagross and some fast attacker say...Ninjask? Or even with the new disruptive Dusclops? 2 heads = bye bye all energies attached to defending... :thumb:

I don't see the point of dusclop's first attack. If you want to flip 2 heads anyway, why would't you just use sandstorm dusclops?

whats a hand trap deck?

Invader-ZIM
02/09/2005, 08:12 PM
Like, the trapping of the hand... DUH!

Seriously though, it's a deck that is (sometimes heavily) involved with controling your opponent's hand contents and/or size. At least, that's what i've come to think of it as... I could be wrong though, lol.

wolf52525

how would hariyama help a hand trap deck? all it stops is stadiums.

Cephiro
02/10/2005, 01:11 AM
Hi wolf52525,

EX Deoxys brings in a couple of pokemon that can really thrash your opponent's hand. Think Hariyama EX and some Mighteyena and maybe even Sableye. Or you can splash in the Dark Slowking that can really destroy your opponents strategy and forces them into having cards that are of no use to them.
Also, note that Hariyama EX has a Pivot Throw attack that can discard a card in your opponents hand.

The new alteria will be a dragon killer 3 for 50 cant be attacked by EX and is colorless with a dre it can get Dark Dragonair before it become dragonite or shelgon before sally ex

Dom
02/12/2005, 04:43 PM
Yes I noticed that Altaria can be pretty evil, seeing as its not a Dragon card itself. Although Draggy should be able to outspeed it.

Cephiro
02/14/2005, 03:56 AM
Hi people,

Altaria reigns in its ability to take down the new big dragon EXs (Salamence EX and Raquaza EX 2) as it not only is the weakness type of those beasts but also has the stereotyped Safeguard poke-body. Also, it is not weak towards colorless in the same way dragons are but vulnerable to electricity (the lightning type), which i must say is a growing trend with the release of another version of Manectric and Dark Ampharos still high and mighty. Also, most dragon decks usually play lightning type in the case of Dark Dragonite (Dark Electrode). But im thinking Crystal Shard will be a better choice for speed and flexibility.
