I was just browsing through the forums and I've seen all kinds of cards on ebay going for ridiculous amounts of dollars. Is there anyway I can find out what are the rarest and most valuable Pokemon products and specifically Pokemon cards that are out there? Or maybe some of you guys know?

I think the rarest cards are the Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres cards that were in the TCG for Gameboy. I believe only two sets of them were ever made, and there is an online card store somewhere that has them up for viewing.

As far as I know the rarest card in existence is Prerelease Raichu.

To my knowledge there are only 4 currently in existence, and most people deny they even exist.

Ask any WOTC employee, they deny the card was ever made.

But I know better =)

well, if anybody ever see's this magic raichu please take a picture, I would pay just to see a picture of a prerelease raichu. not to mention it would go for enough money to send me through collage on ebay.

I cant ever deny those were ever made now, but I would really question if WOTC or PUI would authenticate em as being real. Kinda like money and coins being legal tender and all. But I mean has any of us seen a pre-release raichu?

Tropical Wind is kinda more common though, I think a good 10 of em exist worldwide could be slightly less. the Illustrator card (had a rare chance to own one few years back) I think has about a good 100 copies world wide, the story behind illustrator Pikachu ties in with the Vending Sheets they had, I believe most of the vending cards if not all were all part of a contest, artist would draw the pokemon and the winners would recieve the illustrator card and have their picture put on a pokemon cards, yet the illustrator may seem to be the rarest one out of all thats listed, but it aint. I think though the Gold Pikachu Trophy might actually be the rarest, but theirs disputes about it on all of it though.

But going back I got this card some time ago, it appears to be a Vending Series Mewtwo but different, Japanese now of course, with symbols on its body and all and wirting at the bottom of the card, its actually the same picture and all but totally different from the vending series card itself, anyone got any info on this? I havent really seen many of those in existence either, not even on ebay.

I am talking about the REAL illustrator Pikachu, the one have the word illustrator on the heading where "trainer" is for trainer cards. From my understanding, there are only 3 in the world, or maybe less.

The illustrator Pikachu in Vending 2 (I thing, maybe 3, I can never remember) is not even close in value to that Illustrator prize card.

As for mew, are your talking about mew 2 with those purple line background. There are 2 print of that, for 2 seperate occasion.

what i want to know is what crazy person would spend $23,000 for basically 3 peices of cardboard. I love pokemon as much as the next pokemaniac but thats rediculous. A thread should started is who is crazy enough to spend that much on a card.
BTW those pikachu's last time I check is the most expensive card ever sold on ebay. Until someone bought cyber stein for 24,000 dollars but obviously got some sense into their mind and bailed out on sale.

What about the Tropical Mega Battle decks? Each player's deck was printed in their native language, as I recall...

WOW! Who spend $23,000? on which? The most expensive spending I've seen on 1 card is US$1000 only!

Back in 2000 the three pikachu trophy cards went for about 22,100 on ebay. The cyber stein is a yugioh shoenen jump championship card. It at first did go for about 23,000+ but the person who won it backed out. When it was relisted I think only went for a couple of thousand not sure though.

you say cardboard. from your theory thats taking a cardboard box, cutting a square and selling it on ebay for $10,000.

But you know Stock is printed on a piece of paper that says shares, coins is made from cheapest metal on earth, same with dollar bills, cards is portraits or arts of something made into collectors items. The cardboard thing just has no meaning to it no more to me IMO, cause it might be made of cardboard but theirs something printed on it from a company they may or may not print many of that item.

The "Illustrator Pikachu" card went for $22,000 quite a while back, if I recall. In terms of amount per card, that's likely the single most valuable card, considering the amount that it alone went for.

Ok point taken dude. our Currency and other important documents are printed on materials we view as of having no value. But at least you can use that to buy things that are necessary or the luxuries for life. Last time I check you can't roll into a Mcdonald's and say "I want a big mac. will this Blastoise ex cover it"

Just to let everyone know I update the super.jpg by adding one more card
Still cannot find the pics of trainer No 3 on my computer...

They have different pics. The higher the prize the more characters it have on it!

Wish they do the same for Worlds prize cards too instead of just printing it with different text

cool i do the same thing but w/ yugioh. But the thing w/ cards is after a while has passed cards lose their value. So spending enough money on a single card for a car is just absurd cuz chances are you won't be able to sell the cards back for the same price u bought it for.

yeah I had that problem to, just got out of yugioh and sold a bunch of stuff LOL, hard to believe I put up with that game for 2 years, game itself aint totally bad but the people in it makes the experience bad.

So the story goes that after the cards were printed, the mistake was found. All the cards they could get back were destroyed by the printer. But not all were returned.........

And no, I do not have one :frown:
