can i take a moment to point out that it was unfair that seniors and juniors got to sit regardless of W/L record. i realize there was no other option, and have no suggestions, i do however wish to complain about it lol

If you have preregistered, you won't lose your spot unless you are still a no-show at 10:45.

Please understand that bringing a chair is not "buying" your way into the event. You are allowing the chair to be used for the event, not for your own personal games. Bringing a chair may mean you have a chair to sit in if you end up in an area where chairs would otherwise not be, but it does not necessarily mean that you yourself will be using it.
At the moment, it does not look like additional chairs will be needed. That may change if the preregistration list gets up into the 70s.
If you would like to help us by bringing a chair, we ask that the chairs be metal folding chairs, not "lawn chair" style. Thanks to everyone who is able to bring a chair :thumb:

I was informed by the judge at Battle Roads that this was allowed, so if I bring a chair because it belongs to me I will be the only one using it.

"The judge" at Fairfax does not set policy for the venue. Nor do I for that matter. ShadowCard is the venue rep and it is he who sets Hobby Works policy. The store is gracious enough to host us. We are their guest and do not tell them what to do. If you expect to tote your chair around table to table throughout the day, sorry, no, that will be too disruptive given the limited space in-store. Exceptions of course are made for special cases (medical situations, etc)

As head judge on the day. let me back up what David is saying here. We have an obligation not only to store to run the event by their "rules" as hosts, but to the other players as well to keep the event running smoothly. Some one dragging their chair around all day is disruptive to the event. We'll make an announcement early on, but penalties can and will be issued to any one not complying with instructions and disrupting the event, per the penalty guide lines. See a copy of the pertinent section below, The failure to comply line applies here.
Examples of Unsporting Conduct: Major include:
Leaving a large amount of garbage in the tournament area.
Failure to comply with the instructions of the event staff.
Engaging in gamesmanship/rules lawyering.
Attempting to manipulate a match through intimidation or distraction.
Refusal to sign a match slip.
Making legal plays which have no effect on the game in progress to manipulate the time remaining in a match.
Playing slowly to manipulate the time remaining in a match.
I would just rather clear the air and back up what David has said before the tournament starts. So have fun, but I would rather you know up front that there can be consequences to not complying with staff instructions. Thanks and good luck to all the players.:thumb:

It would be great, but still hurts. Really banking on that last cities. Bring it to Lynchburg, I'll rent out an entire building for it! I wish we had a shop that wasn't junk or was owned by magic players

Pretty much any facility that is open to the public works. The marathon folks have been wonderfully creative with their venues. But, as Crazar has said, I'll post good news tomorrow. It looks like we do have a new venue in Harrisonburg thanks to the Angersteins!

It was SO GOOD to sit at a table as a player again.
Warrenton today = 6 rounds .... top cut to 8 (Masters)
Let me tell you something.
I played 6 rounds and absolutely enjoyed every opponent.
Everyone I played was jovial, friendly, and good spirited. That was a much needed episode of unexpected pleasantry.
I hope that my opponents enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed theirs.
PROPS:
Record-breaking attendance at Warrenton.
Luke Reed taking me aside and giving me tips on better ways to play my deck ( that was priceless and much appreciated man.. thanks!)
Michael Pramawat seeing me miss my "always going to time" in round 6 by 10 seconds and telling me "you should've slow rolled it by freezing like you had a spontaneous seizure... and when time was called, hold up your arms and celebrate making-it-to-time as being a Personal Triumph!" (ahahahahahahahhahahahaaAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!)
ALMOST getting matched up vs. Helen (whom I haven't gotten to play against since Legend's Awakened was released ...)
Meeting another great PokeDad in round 4 (Steven?)
David keepin' it cracka-lackin' even with the wall-to-wall attendance.
The judges doing their thing without any issues (that were noticable).
The Warrenton Location (Panera, Chipotle, Tropical SMoothie.. OH MY!)
The gorgeous sunny 66 degree weather in JANUARY ??!?! (HOLLA!)
FINALLY GETTING TO PLAY in a premier tournament (that wasn't a pre-release).
SLOPS:
Tails .... Tails ... Tails ... (junk arm) ... Tails... (Junk Arm) .. tails... r e a l l y ?

I expected 40-45 players today, so needless to say I was thrilled at the turnout of 61!! RA, you are completely correct about this great player base.. Due to the holidays, it had been several weeks since I've run a CC. It is such a blast (kara) to get back into the swing of things and run events for such an amazing group of players! You guys rock! Thanks for the gift, too, guys. It means the world to me that I am appreciated! :thumb:
