I know that if you only have a fossil you can choose whether or not to mulligan. But that still leaves some things unclear atleast to me.

1. If you started with 2 fossils could you put the 2nd on your bench in addition to the active?
2. If you have a regular basic say a Mudkip, and you have a fossil, could you put the fossil active and the Mudkip benched? Or does the simple fact of having a "real" basic means no fossils?

This is especially important since you might be able to use Fossils as that early stall like babies. You won't want to retreat that Mudkip for the fossil if you can just do it from the start.
Thanks

Q. At the beginning of the game, can I start with a Mysterious/Claw/Root Fossil as my Active Pokemon even if I have another "real" pokemon on the bench?
A. Yes, you can start with a Fossil Trainer card as your Active Pokemon, at the start of the game.(Oct 2,2003 PUI Rules Team Meeting)
