"Hello, people! How are you on this grand day? Bad? . . . Oh well." . . . Anyways! I would just like to ask how much you got your ANime Music Cds for. Mine varies all over. One was $40, one was $45, one was $30, and one was only $16! WHY ARE THE PRICES SO HIGH!?! (I'm not really counting the $16 one, in case you didn't see that.) If anyone has an answer to this question, it would be greatly appreciated by all anime music lovers everywhere on this fourm! (So yeah, Gundam SEED Cds are a lot cheaper than RKs or GWs, or Gundam Sigle history disks. How weird.)

All my Anime CDs have been purchased at Media Play, all domestic, but well, I buy DVDs, so the Anime I watch is domestic...

I have one Eva CD that was only 20, that's my only Japanese CD.

WHY ARE THE PRICES SO HIGH!?!This is because most music/movie stores that sell these (ie. Media Play, Sam Goody, Suncoast, etc.) make a ton of pure profit by overpricing these things. If you think about it, they really aren't making much money if the cost of a CD is $10 and sell it for $13... That's why I avoid the malls where these places are and just buy my music/movies online. It's soooo much cheaper this way. You can also get movies and certain anime for cheap at Best Buy and Circuit City.

The BEST place online to purchase anime soundtracks or anime in general is: www.rightstuf.com

Just click on the online store button, then the MUSIC link, and you can browse their titles. So far, I haven't seen any of their music soundtracks listed for more than $14.98... Depending on the series, most box sets include the soundtracks, but you can get soundtracks seperately if you want.

The thing I really like about that site, is that it's really cheap, and plus you can take advantage of their weekly coupon specials, which can get you 40% off all titles from a certain company (like ADV Films, etc...). They also have extremely great clearance specials too. It's really worth checking out.

I got most of this stuff online, especially the Ranma 1/2 CD's- got all 8 of those for $45 plus shipping. I agree with Coldfire64- the malls and stores can and do overprice some of this stuff. The best thing to do is a little comparison shopping first...

I've only purchased the domestic Pokemon CDs. Never imported before, but I've thought about it. Speaking of domestic Pokemon CDs...anyone know where I can get a copy of Pokemon Live? >__>

...anyone know where I can get a copy of Pokemon Live? >__>You can get lucky with some searches in Yahoo shopping, which is where I've found some "rare" stuff before. You could also get lucky off this website: http://www.trsrockin.com/songs.html and see if they have anything linked to it where you could buy the CD.

The only other main thing I can think of, is Ebay, but there haven't been any listings of that CD for awhile. This is why you may be better off using Yahoo shopping as a search guide to find some online stores that still sell it. Good luck!

I haven't actually looked for the CD in forever. I did do Froogle and Yahoo shopping searches back then though, maybe I should try again. Its hard to believe that no one on the Gym seems to have a copy. :/

I saw in when they were touring the US, back in early 2001 (Pokemon Live) They have a disc for that? Interesting...

THe CDs you can get domestically suck though. For example, you can't get any SEED Destiny CDs or RK. You also will have a hard time finding CDs for artists such as Orange Range and Chemistry. Even Nami Tamaki's CDs! (And I am not talking about Greeting. Ever heard any songs from Make Progress? gg.)

I got a FLCL OST3 for 15 bucks, not domestic.
I forget where I got it, though..
E-bay or Amazon, something like that.

How are you gonna buy a measly one hour CD for 40 bucks?
Other than that, no music CD in the world is worth that much.

As much as some of you may not want to hear it, any import cds that you get for around fifteen dollars(or less) are probably bootleg.

If you want to find certain Pokemon cds, just try looking for them on www.samgoody.com(that's where my brother picked up a copy of Pokemon Christmas Bash). You can even find samples of most of the tracks on the site.

THe CDs you can get domestically suck though.
You just destroyed any credibility that you could have hoped for. lol
I guess Yokko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura are just two-bit hacks or something by your standards?

Yes, I would like an American release of the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, but we do get Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell SAC, Noir, Excel Saga(it sounds odd, but it is a solid soundtrack), FLCL, and more(listing them all would just get boring).

Yes, it's true that there are a number of anime soundtracks that should be released in America, but have not been, but that does not mean that what has been released isn't any good.

You also will have a hard time finding CDs for artists such as Orange Range and Chemistry.
Umm...
Since those are artists, those would probably count as J-pop and not anime soundtracks.

In case anybody was wondering, this what my soundtrack collection looks like:
Wolf's Rain OST 1
Ghost in the Shell OST 2(2nd gig soundtrack)
Spriggan OST
FLCL OST 1
NOIR OST 1
R.O.D the OAV OST
RahXephon OST 1
RahXephon OST 2
Escaflowne the Movie OST
Akire Symphonic Suite
Excel Saga OST 1
Tenjho Tenge
I have a wide range of musical tastes, but I can still find good soundtracks in the official releases.

It would be a safe bet that those Ranma cds are all bootleg(unless you meant $45 a piece, of course).
The malls and stores do overprice, but they also special order the stuff from Japan.
If you're a store owner and you have a product that not many people really want, would you keep the store well stocked with it, or just order it when you need some?

Note: Anything(anime cd or dvd) from Honk Kong is most likely a bootleg(the bootlegging laws are pretty lax there).

Another Note: Don't forget to check the box set releases of the anime that you want the soundtrack of(it's fairly common for the box sets to contain the soundtrack for the show as a bonus).

In regards to the last post, I had checked into that before buying the Cd's... and I even went to the music company's Japanese website to check on the how the covers looked, track listing, etc. CD's for that series do not cost $45 a piece, it was a very popular series in Japan and the CD's are easily obtainable. I do agree with what Jeremy said above in regards to the bootleg issue... "buyer beware" should be the thought to keep in mine when shopping for imports.

Certain series will have their OST's end up at Suncoast and similar stores where it may cost $15-$20 for a CD of Japanese music. I got the Noir and Madlax OST 1 from Suncoast for around $15 each. Harder to find CD's or one's that have not been released here by major companies like Geneon (Noir and Madlax were released by them- excellent work by Yuki Kajiura) will cost more and be harder to find, auction sites may need to be used in order to obtain them.
