I don't want to post my deck until I find out whether or not these work...
2 things:
Are you allowed to use old and new cards together or do you have to use just the newer ones at tournaments? I don't have many new cards, or much money...
Secondly, I bought the "Green Tonado" deck. Are Serperior and Scolipede as tough as I think? Superior heals itself and everything I have that's grass, and if I'm right, Scolipede's cheaply powerful, but rather costly... Would these two mixed as the focus of a deck survive in a real game against skilled players?

I'm very sorry honestly I would use a deck like the truth it's fairly inexpensive ATM if u don't use mewtwo serp erupt ability is good and if u really want to you can use a theme deck serpentinite (I took mine out and regretted doing so if you would like I can Pm you a list) also if you have good old cards (exs stars shinings) I would suggest going to the trade thread
And trading for staple supporters (collector professor oaks new theory professor juniper rare candy Pokemon catcher junk arm etc) if you do run the truth with serp and clus you would only need rare candy and collector and professor oak from those

Tempo: You might what to check out this thread http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=146331
The author discusses how to start with theme decks and improve from there. The results may not be top tier but you can get a reasonably consistent deck that is good for fun league play.

Only cards from HeartGold SoulSilver onwards can be used in tournaments. Sorry :frown:

Sadly, neither of those cards are particularly good. I know they might seem to be powerful (especially if you are used to the old stuff), but when you take a look at things like Zekrom, Reshiram, and the new Basic EX Pokemon, I think you will see why they will struggle in this format.
But it's not all bad news . . .
Starting this game by going out and spending a ton of money on a top level competitive deck is not a good idea anyway. Besides, the format is constantly changing. Whatever is good right now will probably not be so great after the next set or two is released. So why not build a deck with the cards you have, take it to League and learn about the game and the top decks. You will have fun that way and discover whether or not you want to make the time and money commitment that serious tournament play requires.

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate it. And I see what you mean, especially after going to Serebii and looking at the newest Mewtwo EX card...
