Now that the Mega Man X set seems to be done, it's time for another set. This time, the theme game is Super Smash Brothers: Melee. Here are the characters and their themes:
Kirby. The pink puffball will use Colorless Pokemon. Ganondorf. The Triforce-seeking villain gets Dark-type Pokemon. Yoshi. This gentle dinosaur gets Grass-types. Ness. The psychic kid from Onett gets Psychic Pokemon, oddly enough. Donkey Kong. This pummeling primate gets Fighting-type Pokemon. Try to use mostly Pokemon that were actually Fighting in the Game Boy games. Roy. The super swordsman from Fire Emblem gets Fire-type Pokemon. Ice Climbers. The mountain-climbing duo get Water-type Pokemon, especially Ice-types. Mr. Game & Watch. This outlined oldie gets Steel-types and Electric types. [EDIT] Adding in another character. Falco will be in charge of Flying-types.
All Pokemon up to and including Ruby and Sapphire are allowed, except Jirachi and Deoxys. I will want Pokemon-ex, but do not post them yet. I do want Trainers. At least one each of the following per character: TM, Supporter with the character's name, "characteristic" Trainer (an example from the last set is Armored Armadillo's Armor), Stadium. Other Trainers are also welcome, but it must relate either to a specific character or to Super Smash Brothers: Melee in general. No limits on how many Pokemon or Trainers any one character gets, as long as you stay on theme. Please avoid new or illegal game mechanics. Also, please do not post more than one card for the same Pokemon for the same character, unless it's a Basic that evolves (up to 2 cards per evolving Basic per character, please, and I'd like each to be from a different card creator.)

Ok, I was just making sure that I didn't need Steel basics(like Aron or something) to have a line of Pokes. ^_^

Fine, since ya'll took my Falco idea, I'll do Sheik before doing some official ones.

Shiek is a fan of free retreat, quick damage Pokemon. Their type doesn't matter, but they must have something ninja-like about them.

Sheik's Sneasel-60 HP-Dark Basic

(D)(C)Slice-20+-Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 damage, and you may choose to switch Sneasel with one of your Benched Pokemon. If tails, this attack does 20 damage.

(D)(D)(C)Ninja's Trickery-30-Choose a card at random from your opponent's hand. Your opponent must shuffle that card into their deck.

Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: Psychic
Retreat: N/A

Sheik's Scyther-70 HP-Grass Basic

(G)Throwing Stars-10x-Flip 3 coins. This attack does 10 times the number of heads.

(G)(C)(C)Invisibile-30-Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent can't attack Sheik's Scyther next turn. (Benching/Evolving ends this effect)

Weakness: Fire
Resistance: Fighting
Retreat: N/A

Sheik's Hitmonlee-60HP-Fighting Basic

Poke-Body:Furtive:When Sheik's Hitmonlee is on the bench, you may choose to shuffle it and all cards attached to it into your deck.

(F)(C)(C)-Rebound Kick-40-Switch Sheik's Hitmonlee with one of your benched Pokemon. This attack can only be used if you have benched Pokemon.

Weakness: Psychic
Resistance: N/A

There, some Sheik cards...
Retreat: N/A

Sorry, Captain, but no Sheik. I'm trying not to have more than one character from the same series, and I'm not using Pokemon. However, those are good cards. Please keep them as is, giving them to the appropriate characters (although attack names may need to change).

Captain Obviousx1
10/03/2003, 08:35 PM
Yea, I figured that would happen. Oh well, at least I made some cards...lol. Good practice before going to work on G & W. ^_^

Captain Obviousx1
10/03/2003, 08:36 PM
Oh yea, give Scyther to Yoshi, Sneasel to Ganondorf, and Hitmonlee to Donkey Kong then. I guess I might as well make them legal for the set. ^_^

Captain Obviousx1
10/03/2003, 08:46 PM
Also, I think you should add Samus for Steel types, and let G & W have only Electric types. With that, I plan to do some Steel Pokes for Samus, seeing how Samus is from another series. Captain Falcon could also take the Sheik "fast Pokemon" concept, being from another series as well. It's up to you though. ^_^

dkates
10/03/2003, 08:51 PM
Actually, G&W got both because Steel is such a tiny type. Including Steelix and Scizor's pre-evolutions, only having Steel would've only given G&W 15 possible Pokemon. I think this set has all the characters it needs.

DK's Mankey-40 HP-Fighting-Basic-
(C)Fury Kick-10-If DK's Mankey has any damage counters on it, flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage plus 10 more damage.

Weakness-(P)
Resistance-

DK's Primeape-80 HP-Fighting-Stage 1-
PokeBody-Seathing Anger-You may have any of DK's Primeapes attacks do 20 more damage. If you do, DK's Primeape becomes confused afterwards.
(C)Rage-10+-This attack does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for every damage counter on DK's Primeape.
(F)(F)(C)Blinding Rage-60-DK's Primeape becomes paralyzed at the beggining of the your next turn.
Weakness-(P)
Resistance-
Retreat-(C)

Pidgeotto Trainer
10/03/2003, 09:59 PM
Had to get these Pokemon!
Falco's Pidgey
40 HP
1 (C) Aerial images
If Falco's Pidgey is attacked your opponent flips a coin. If tails the attack does nothing not even damage. If Falco's Pidgey evolves this effect remains on the evolution or any evolution after that. If the pokemon with this effect is attacked successfully then Aerial Images is no longer in effect.
1 (C) Wing Attack 10
W: (L) R:(F) Ret: 1 (C)
Falco's Pidgeotto
60 HP
2 (C) Blinding Air-Speed 20
If Falco's Pidgeotto is attacked next turn your opponent flips 2 coins. If either is tails that attack does nothing. Ignore this effect if the defending pokemon has 0 retreat or resistance to (F).
3 (C) Lone Bird 50 (Since Falco isn't a group person)
If there are any other pokemon on your side of the field with resistance to fighting this attack's base damage is 10.
W: (L) R: (F) Ret: 0 (C)
Falco's Pidgeot
80 HP
3 (C) Speed Attack 30
If this attack knocks out the defending Pokemon then prevent all effects of attacks including damage done to Falco's Pidgeot during your opponent's next turn.
4 (C) Mirror Move
If Falco's Pidgeot was dealt damage during your opponent's last turn this attack does the same amount of damage. You may flip a coin. If heads this attack does twice as much as your opponent's last attack. If tails this attack does nothing.
W: (L) R: (F) Ret: 0 (C)
Trainer
Arwing
If your active pokemon has Fox or Falco in it's name. Arwing does 20 damage to the active pokemon with the most HP remaning.

Celebexpert2...are you aware as to how broken those cards would be in a Modified setting? At least make them EX, if anything. No basic without major drawback should have 120 HP. Anyway, time for some G & W cards...

G&W's Onix-90 HP-Fighting Basic

(F)Burrow-Flip a coin. If heads, reduce any damage G&W's Onix would take next turn by half, rounded up(before applying Weakness and Resistance).

(C)(C)Rock Throw-20x-Flip 2 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads.

Weakness: Grass
Resistance: N/A
Retreat: 3

G&W's Steelix-120 HP-Steel Stage 1

Poke-Body:Iron Curtain:Your benched Pokemon can't be affected in any way by attacks, Trainers, or Poke-Bodies/Powers as long as G&W's Steelix is active.

(S)(S)(C)(C)Axis Rotation-70-Place 2 damage counters on G&W's Steelix.

Weakness: Fire
Resistance: Grass
Retreat: 4

That's all I have right now. 90 HP might be high for the Onix, but 3 Retreat and flippy attacks make it useless besides for the Steelix. The Steelix has 120 HP due to the side affect of Axis Rotation. Note the wording of the effect...it says damage counters, so Steel Energy won't prevent the drawback. Iron Curtain might be useful against threats such as SS 'Buzz and ER2, among other things.

dkates, I have 4 cards from your old Mega X Set attempt in the old Pokégym. Here they are (names changed of course).

Ice Climbers’ Shellder
30 HP
(W)
Basic Pokemon
Weakness: (L)
Resistance: N/A
Retreat Cost: (C)

(C) Tackle 10

(W)(W) Protect

Ice Climbers’ Cloyster
70 HP
(W)
Stage 1 Pokemon (Evolves from Ice Climbers’ Shellder)
Weakness: (L)
Resistance: N/A
Retreat Cost: (C)(C)

Poke-Body: Hard Shell
If an attack would do 30 or more damage to Ice Climbers’ Cloyster, it instead does 20 damage to Ice Climbers’ Cloyster.

(W)(W)(C) Spikes
If, during your opponent's next turn, your opponent changes his Active Pokemon in any way, place 1 damage counter on the new Defending Pokemon. 20

G&W's Scyther
70 HP
(G)
Basic Pokemon
Weakness: (R)
Resistance: (F)
Retreat Cost: N/A

(C) Spinning Slash 30
Flip a coin. If tails, this attack does no damage and G&W's Scyther does 10 damage to itself.

(G)(G) Infinite Slash 20X
Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads.

G&W's Scizor
90 HP
(M)
Stage 1 Pokemon (Evolves from G&W's Scyther)
Weakness: (R)
Resistance: (G)
Retreat Cost: (C)(C)

(M)(C) Speed Slice 20-
Flip a coin for each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. If heads, this attack does 20 damage to that Pokemon. Do not apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon. If all are tails, or if your opponent has no Benched Pokemon, this attack does 10 damage instead of 20.

(M)(C)(C) Metallic Slash 20+
Flip a coin for each (M) Energy attached to G&W's Scizor. This attack does 20 damage plus 20 more damage for each heads.

Sunflorazumarill
10/04/2003, 10:53 AM
And some more salvaged cards (names changed).

Falco
Supporter

If a Pokemon with Falco in its name attacks this turn and does damage, you may do up to half of that damage (rounded down) to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon instead of the Defending Pokemon. Apply this effect before applying Weakness and Resistance.

Ganondorf
Supporter

You may not play this card if your Bench is full or your opponent has no Benched Pokemon. Move your Active Pokemon to your Bench and your opponent's Active Pokemon to your Active position. Your opponent chooses one of his Benched Pokemon as his Active Pokemon. You may not move your opponent's Pokemon from your Active position in any way (if any card effect would move it out of the Active position, ignore that effect) or attach any cards to it. For the remainder of this turn, other than the above restrictions, you may use the Pokemon you moved to your Active position as if it were your own Active Pokemon, including any Pokemon Powers or attacks it may have. At the end of your turn, return all Pokemon that were moved by this card to their original positions, if they are still in play.
[Wordy, isn't it?]

Donkey Kong
Supporter

Flip a coin. If heads, place two damage counters on the Defending Pokemon. If tails, place two damage counters on your Active Pokemon. You may not attack on the turn you played this card.

Ness
Supporter

Flip three coins. For each heads, place two damage counters on the Defending Pokemon. If even one is heads, discard all Energy cards attached to your Pokemon.

Roy
Supporter

If one of your Pokemon with Roy in its name uses an attack this turn, and that attack would involve discarding one or more (R) Energies attached to that Pokemon, discard one less (R) Energy than you otherwise would.

Let's try to settle down, guys. I do not want this thread becoming a flame-fest.
Celebexpert2, you are welcome to post cards on this thread, even edited versions of the Groudon and Kyogre. Just make sure you give them to the right people, and that they are balanced. Also, I am offended by your response to my request. You not only chose to attack my character, but you did so publicly. Next time, please keep this to Private Messages.
ShadowOfTyranitar, please do not make fun of celebexpert2. Although I dislike the manner in which he stated them, celebexpert2 has every right to his opinions. Remember, we were all rookies once. I could show you cards I created that were even more broken than those two.

OK. Let's try to keep this set going! Here are cards for some SSB:M items.

Home Run Bat
Trainer

You can't play this card if your opponent has only one Pokemon in play. Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, the Defending Pokemon is Knocked Out. Either way, your turn ends immediately.

Lip's Stick
Pokemon Tool
(Tool Rule)

If the Pokemon Lip's Stick is attached to does damage to the Defending Pokemon with an attack, flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokemon is now Poisoned. Discard Lip's Stick after flipping heads for this effect.

Party Ball
Supporter

Flip a coin until you get tails. For each heads, search your deck for a Trainer card and put it in your hand. Your opponent does the same.

Melee Ball
Trainer

Flip two coins. If even one is heads, search your deck for a Baby Pokemon, Basic Pokemon, or Evolution card. Choose one of that Pokemon's attacks. Your Active Pokemon immediately uses that attack. (This counts as your attack for the turn.) Ignore its attack cost, but you still must do everything else required in order to do that attack. Then, discard the card you searched for. Either way, your turn ends immediately. (You don't get to attack.)

[Note: Melee Ball is based on the Poke Ball in SSB:M.]

Fountain of Dreams
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Up to 3 of each player's Benched Pokémon with Kirby in its name do not count towards that player's maximum Bench size. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Green Greens
Trainer card (Stadium card)

After each player's turn, for each of their Active Pokémon, the player whose turn it was flips a coin for each Energy card attached to that Pokémon. If all are tails, that player switches that Pokémon for one of their Benched Pokémon.

Dream Land N64
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player may have only 1 Active Pokémon while this card remains in play, and the maximum Bench size is 5 (before any effects that might change that size). After each player's turn, the player whose turn it was flips a coin for each Energy card attached to their Active Pokémon. If all are tails, that player switches that Pokémon for one of his or her Benched Pokémon. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Great Bay
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Every Pokémon with Ganondorf in its name has Resistance to {W}. (If that Pokémon had at least one Resistance not to before this card is played, that Pokémon has Resistance to both those types and {W}.)

Temple
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Pokémon with Ganondorf or Roy in their names do not count towards a player's maximum Bench size. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Yoshi's Story
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each {G} Energy card attached to a Pokémon with Yoshi in its name provides {G}{G}.

Yoshi's Island
Trainer card (Stadium card)

During a player's turn, that player may choose one of his or her opponent's Active Pokémon and flips a coin for each Energy card attached to that Pokémon. If all are heads, that Pokémon's owner shuffles that Pokémon and all cards attached to it into his or her deck.

Yoshi's Island N64
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player may have only 1 Active Pokémon while this card remains in play, and the maximum Bench size is 5 (before any effects that might change that size). During a player's turn, that player may flip a coin for each Energy card attached to his or her opponent's Active Pokémon. If all are heads, that Pokémon's owner shuffles that Pokémon and all cards attached to it into his oe her deck. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

And for Sneasel purposes, this meta-rule: Pokémon that are not counted towards a player's maximum Bench size is not considered a Benched Pokémon when its owner is attacking.

Wierd cards. Some are possibly a little broken, even though they are two-sided. The ones that let you play certain Pokemon without them counting against your maximum bench size, for example -- or is Sneasel not broken enough yet? On Fountain of Dreams, change the "your" to "each player's".

Onett
Trainer card (Stadium card)

At the end of a player's turn, that player flips a coin. If tails, that player chooses one of their Active Pokémon. 30 damage is done to that Pokémon.

Fourside
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Any Pokémon with Ness or Pichu in their names do not count towards a player's maximum Bench size. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size. If a Pokémon with Pichu in its name evolves, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck.

Jungle Japes
Trainer card (Stadium card)

All Energy attached to a Pokémon with Donkey Kong in its name provides both {F} and its usual type but provides only 1 Energy at a time.

Kongo Jungle
Trainer card (Stadium card)

If a Pokémon would be Knocked Out by an attack, that Pokémon's owner flips a coin. If heads, that Pokémon's owner removes all damage counters from that Pokémon and, if that Pokémon is Active, switches it with one of his or her Benched Pokémon.

Kongo Jungle N64
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player may have only 1 Active Pokémon while this card remains in play, and the maximum Bench size is 5 (before any effects that might change that size). If a Pokémon would be Knocked Out by an attack, that Pokémon's owner flips a coin. If heads, that Pokémon's owner removes all damage counters from that Pokémon and, if that Pokémon is Active, switches it with one of his or her Benched Pokémon. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Final Destination
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player's maximum Bench size is reduced by 2. Pokémon with Roy in its name do not count towards a player's maximum Bench size.

Icicle Mountain
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player's Bench has no maximum size. If a Benched Pokémon does not have Ice Climbers in its name, at the end of a player's turn, that player places a damage counter on that Pokémon. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Flat Zone
Trainer card (Stadium card)

At the end of each player's turn, unless a player's Active Pokémon has Mr. Game and Watch in its name, each player switches his or her Active Pokémon for one of his or her Benched Pokémon.

Corneria
Trainer card (Stadium card)

At the end of each player's turn, that player's opponent shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon that doesn't have Falco in its name and all cards attached to it into his or her deck. If that player has no Benched Pokémon or all of that player's Benched Pokémon has Falco in its name, ignore this effect.

Venom
Trainer card (Stadium card)

Each player's maximum Bench size is increased by 3. If this card is removed from play, if that player's Bench has more Pokémon than the maximum Bench size, that player shuffles one of their Benched Pokémon and all cards attached to it into their deck until their number of Benched Pokémon is the same as the maximum Bench size.

Ness's Mewtwo
100 HP (P)

Pokemon Power: Psychic Doppleganger: Ness's Mewtwo has a copy of each of your own pokemon's Pokepowers and Pokebodys in play. Mewtwo may use these Pokepowers and Pokebodys, even if you couldn't normally use more than one, unless the pokepower or pokebody spicefically says that you cannot. Mewtwo looses all pokepowers and pokebodys if it is affected by a special condition.

(P)(P) Psysheild: 20: Flip 3 coins. For each heads, you may reduce the damage done to Ness's Mewtwo by your opponet's attacks by 10. Benching or evolving Ness's Mewtwo ends this effect. Damage done by attacks named "Brick Break" is not reduced.

(P)(P)(P)(P) Psycho Cannon: 40+: Choose one of your opponet's pokemon. This attack does 40 damage plus 10 more damage for each energy attached to that pokemon. Pokemon Powers and Pokemon Bodys do not reduce this damage in any way.

Not bad, Pokemaster. Are you new here? If so, welcome! I would like to suggest two edits to the card you posted. The first would be to remove the Fighting Resistance. Since Mewtwo is a Psychic type, with no other types, it traditionally has no Resistance in the TCG. Second, remove the last sentence from the first attack. Although I can see why the attack would have such a condition, any Brick Break attack would probably already provide for getting past the shield. Also, check your spelling. Having spelling mistakes makes the card look that much more amateur. Please feel free to post more cards on this set.

A few things. First, just a reminder to make sure your cards aren't broken or introducing new game mechanics. I won't mention any names -- mainly because there really aren't any to mention at the moment, as far as I can tell, but also because I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone.
Second, from here on out, I will not post suggested edits. Instead, I will PM the card creator.
Also, a little bit of "news." I have reposted this set's guidelines on Pokeschool. If I see any especially good cards there, I may repost them here with a credit to their original creators.
Finally, I'm changing the multiples rule for this set. Each character can have up to 2 of a given Pokemon, if it fits his theme. Also, any given Pokemon may belong to up to 2 different characters, if it fits both themes. The exception is Pokemon that are considered "legendary" or especially rare (such as any Pokemon that, in the GB games, there was only one of in any particular game). These, please limit to 1 card of that Pokemon for the whole set, even if it fits two themes.

That hasn't been asked, but I would like the Ice Climbers to be treated as one character.

SUPPORTER TEXT

Choose one of your Pokemon with Ice Climbers' in it's name. Flip a coin for each damage counter on it. For each heads, you may increase the base damage of one of it's attacks by 10. For each tails, place another damage counter on that Pokemon.

Interesting, but the wording on Glalie's Power is confusing. Where does the Supporter card have to be? Also, in the TCG, most Ice-types are weak to Metal, not Fire. Both versions of Sharpsickle seem a little underpowered to me.

For each heads, choose one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon and put a damage counter on that Pokemon. You may not put more than 2 damage counters on a Pokemon in this way. No matter what the result, your turn is over now. (You don't get to attack.)

Okay, I been reading this postings and I have an idea of my own. Tell me what you think.

Master Hand's Mr. Mime
Type: (P)
Weakness: none
Resistance: none
Retreat: (C)(C)(C)(C)
1000 HP

Poké-Body: I Fight Alone!
While Master Hand's Mr. Mime is in play, shuffle any of your other Pokémon in play into your deck. Trainer cards (both yours and your opponent's) have no effect on Master Hand's Mr. Mime, but may remain in play. For each 10 damage counters on Master Hand's Mr. Mime, Master Hand's Mr. Mime requires 1 more (C) Energy to attack or retreat. This Poké-Body cannot be disabled under any circumstances.

(W) - Ice Gun - 80 - Flip two coins. If both are heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. If one or both are tails, this attack does nothing (not even damage.)

(C)(C) - Hand Plane - 20 - Flip a coin. If heads, ignore all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Master Hand's Mr. Mime.

(R)(F)(L)(G)(W)(P) - Massive Hand Slap - Flip 4 coins. If three or more are heads, the Defending Pokémon is Knocked Out. If two are heads, the Defending Pokémon's reamining HP is now 10. If one or less are heads, put 3 damage counters on the Defending Pokémon.

(Note: Master Hand's Mr. Mime's Poké-Body means that if Master Hand's Mr. Mime is Knocked Out, you lose for lack of other Pokémon in play.)

Um, there's already a Trainer card named Final Destination in post #33, and that's the Final Destination that's in the set. And if I recall correctly, you can't have two Trainers with the same name in a set. Before making a card, read the set rules and check to see if the card's already made.

Uh, no, Torchic. Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, and Pikachu are not being used as owners in this set. Only Kirby, Ganondorf, Yoshi, Ness, Donkey Kong, Roy, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and Falco are. If you want to keep those cards, please give them to the appropriate owners. Check the top post to see who those are. Otherwise, scrap 'em.

BTW, LorakLucan, note that that also means that Master Hand's Mr. Mime will need a name change if you want to keep it, in addition to some major rebalancing. Get rid of the Poké-Body, and change the attacks.

You could do the same thing with these three, just give them to nobody. While you're at it, you could even do the same thing with Pichu. ;)
