Well I get up,eat,get dressed,and arrive at the tournament at 10:00.When I get there Flareon's all like "Tino's got this uber tech for tyranitar" and I just hate it when I don't know something like that.Flareon and his brother won't tell me(Why did you even tell me he had a tech if you weren't going to tell me what it was?)Demarion and me sneak over while he's playing and don't see anything out of the ordinary.I give up the search when I realize hes only 1 person in the tournament.I see Kevin coming so I bust out my Metagross deck and shuffle to where they could see the cards that gave my deck away to confuse him.(He had never seen that before)I turn in my deck list and wait for it to begin.
Round 1 (Bye)
Wow this was weird. I was confused when I couldn't find that I was playing somebody and they give me a bye.Then the 15+ judge calls my name and I was somehow put in the 15+. They tell me to play him and as I was shuffling they switch it around and give me a bye again.
Round 2 Taylor Mitchell Swampert/ex/ArticunoEx
Some details about this match are fuzzy(Taylor do you remember?)but I'll explain as best I can.I have an awesome start with Dunsparce 2 Rocket Balls Pidgeotto with some draw. I get my setup going with a Tyranitar active with a DRE and Amphy,Tyranitar,(Pidgeot?).She had cold crushed last turn making me discard my dark on him and I got ahead of myself and attached to the bench one.She didn't see where she forgot she could cold crush leaving me with a naked Tyranitar so she attached to the bench Swampex.I ko it.I forget how I koed the swamp but after that she candied a mudkip and did 40.I attack and rock it for the game.
Round 3 Zach K. (Meganium's son) Salamence/ex/Magcargo
I have a nice start and get everything I need out(Turn 3 Pidgeot) and Zach get his turn 2 Magcargo.He slowly powers up his SalaEx While I pile counters up everywhere with Tyranitar and Amphy. I could tell Zach was about to energy screw me by koing my Tyranitar but I distribute my energy wisely by having a Dark on each Tyranitar with a Shard and DRE in my hand. He eventually sends in his SalaEx very late in the game and koes one of my Tyranitars. I shard and DRE it. Alls he has is Bagons left(No resistance) and I ko them for the game.
In between rounds they give out FREE Pizza and birthday cake which is awesome.
Round 4 Kevin W (USA Nationals Champ 10-)
All our matches are usually long and very well thought out.Not this one... I go first with a Larvitar in my hand and him with a Squirtle and no bench. I fury swipes for 30. He Stevens for 1,uses bubble,and flips tails.I Celio,Rare candy into the pure dark Tyranitar,attach an energy, and use grind for the ko.
Sparton104 walks up to me and tells me to forfeit my next round.(What?)He was saying that since I'm winning so much I would lose one of my matches in top 8.Boy was he wrong....
Round 5 Andrew K. Gardy
Gardy is my favorite matchup with this deck.He starts with 3 Ralts and I start with a Larvitar and Mareep. I'm able to get the pure dark tyrnaitar going and use Grind. Andrew play Magnetic Storm and confuses me.Xx I flip tails spinning tail.All this time Andrew is Tv Reporting and can't get anything but a ralts swarm.I get heads on the next 3 Spinning Tails with him still not being able to get his deck going.Had the last flip been tails Tyranitar would have been koed and I would be screwed with a powerless bench and a bad hand.
So I'm the only person in all 3 age divisons who went undefeated.I win a 1st editon base pack which I'll be receiving in the mail later.
Top 8 Mason CrobatEx/Pure Dark Tyanitar/Amphy?
1st game-I get an early lead but when he sent in Crex I can't get at my shards with no pidgeot.LOSS
2nd game-I get my Rock Lock setup going and I don't let him get out his Crex thanks to Tricky Gym.
3rd Game-As I was shuffling time runs out so its first person to take a prize wins.He has 3 Zubats out and I have a Dunsparce. He bites. I sars and get a mareep(Something else too but it didn't matter).He bites again.Fearing the candy Crex I retreat and evolve my Mareep. I thunder slash but that stupid Body blocks it.He evolves into golbat and uses spiral drain.(Removes 10 and deals 20) I evolve into Amphy and play TM Rock. I copy cat for 8. As soon as I saw the dre I started getting all excited but I realized I was off by 10.M45 is like discard the dre David and I tell him I never announced the attack so I figure if I Tm rock making him re-evolve the Zubat he would take 20 and wouldn't be able to get out Crex.Then I would be able do Shock Bolt to ko it or anything else he had. It worked just like that and he offers me a hand shake on his turn.His deck was pretty decent but I didn't see any rare candy or ATM rock which would have helped beat me.He was also very cool and gave me 3 Lighting non holo matrix energy out of his QCP door prize.
Semi Finals Tino Rock-Lock with Wishing star Jirachis?
1st game-I get a nice start and he starts with a Jirachi and larvitar. He Wishing Stars for like 6 turns and he can't get setup=/ Sand Damage Tyrnaitar takes care of his Jirachi swarm and 1 Tyranitar.
2nd game- It was a mareep from opposite sets against each other. He candies his mareep to Amphy and does 30. I evolve my bench Mareep and attach to it.He koes it and I send in and evolve my Dark Flaaffy.I TM Rock and it goes downhill from there as I get a sand damage up while he struggles to get one out.
Finals Demarion Speed Draggy/Trode
1st game-He starts with Dunsparce and I start with Larvitar.He sars and switches with Dratini.I attach,pull off the 1st turn Pidgeot,Grab a candy,and pass.He Evolves,Lights,Rocket ball,Navigation twice and passes. I rare candy to Tyranitar, get something with quich seach,attach and pass.He Evolves into Dragonite and Claw Swipes for 90(3 darks and an R).I Drop the 3rd energy and get my shard with Quick Search.By this point Demarion is flipping out and I ko it. he can't recover from that even after he rocks me and I win.
2nd game- Blah I just can't remember what happen here.I'll ask Demarion later and update this.I won though.
So I am now 2 time state champion!I get my packs and package and trophy and leave after a very hard day.
