Idaho 2005 Gym Challenge

Registration starts at 10:00 am
Tournament starts at 11:30 am
Admission: FREE :eek:

Players recieve a promo card while supplies last...

Format
Modified. Only cards from Ex Ruby & Sapphire thru Ex Emerald are allowed unless the card has been reprinted in one of the sets above (i.e. Warp Point, Switch, etc...) then the older version can be used.

Players will fill out deck lists. Players will play in age modified swiss rounds. Players play in each round. Number of rounds depends on attendance. Separate age pods will be run for each age group, 10 under, 11-14 and 15 & older (if enough players). Swiss rounds will be one 30 minute game. Finals will be top 4/8/16 depending on size of each pod. Finals will be best 2/3 with one hour time limit.

Prizes
The top 8 finishers in each of the three age categories (10 under, 11-14, 15 & older) receive the following prizes:

1st Place

• Invitation to the Pokémon TCG World Championships in August 2005
• Travel Award for the winner (and parent or legal guardian for players under 18) to the 2005 World Championships
• VIP Badge
• Combination of 36 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions

2nd Place

• Combination of 18 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions
3rd-4th Place

• Combination of 9 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions

5th - 8th Place

• Combination of 4 booster packs from current Pokémon TCG expansions

Side Events

Booster Draft
$15 for five packs. Build a 40 card deck. Play 4 rounds min. Prizes will be Pokemon Booster Packs.

JUNE 18?! I'll still be in school! ARE YOU GUYS TRYING TO MAKE FUN OF ME?! At least it's not like on Friday. Then I would have some serious talking to do. I'll ask my mom if I can go.

My son and I will miss the Idaho gym challenge we will be in Portland on that weekend for a wedding so we hope to play in a gym challenge in Oregon instead. We are new to playing pokemon and look forward to meeting other fellow pokemon players.

Here are the numbers, and winners. I'll let pokeplayer post in all the other official places.

15+ winner Paul J. (14 players in age group.)
11-14 winner: Tyler N. (14 players in age group.)
10- winner: Bo A. (won trip in Utah, so trip passed to Desi K.)

Total players: 31.

Props to Lucas (for hints against Wailord), Crystal (for beating Wailord), Paul (for being cool!), Zane (for being a good sport and chatterboxing the reporter), and Zackery (for reintroducing me to my hate of archeology).
Another fact, it seems that Idaho likes their pizza more than their potatoes!

Oh well, it could be worse, they could say we sacrifice pokemon in a sacreligious ritual to our spoink gods.

Anyway, for those of us keeping track of the final NW GC in Oregon, I have internet access at the hotel, I'll post the results about an hour after the tourney ends. Probably 10 pm for those of us who want info as soon as possible.
