View Full Version : Anyone been able to sanction tourneys yet?

I don't have a POP ID yet, and my store's TO hasn't been able to sanction anything yet. When I "search all" in the tournament location at Pokemon-TCG.com, all that comes up is a "test" tournament. So, does anyone know when we'll be able to sanction tournaments? It's been over two weeks since the POP site went online. Seems strange that we can't sanction yet. :(

Sanctioning has not started. Something, either conflicts with the webteam or lawsuit that overlaps OP, has something to do with it IMO. I'd go with both, because the access to POP ID cards is insecure at this point (I could easily take the image of the card that is provided for a print out and put another name and number on it).

On a related topic, has anyone heard back from them about becoming TOs?

Not yet. They're really busy, you know.

It was stated to the TO's that Jimmer is in Europe at this moment and he's the "go-to guy". Gee what happened to the internet and email I wonder?

Jimmer is now back in the US.
OP was supposed to have started. There is some problem. I don't know what it is.
It seems silly to me for people to make wild guesses as to why its late when only PUI can really answer that.

Haven't heard back on the TO situation either - but I wouldn't be suprised if it had something to do with the lawsuit.

Also it is important for TO applicants to make sure they have put in the correct information in about it. Hey steve, Virginia at SCE says she got a TO kit of sorts so that has got to be some good news.

What information? When I went to the TO App it asked me for my name and birthdate and e-mail, and that was IT.

So we can get POINTS man...POINTS!
Need those points!
Erm.
Well, it might make a difference when it comes time to start mailing out invitations to the next Worlds or mega-big premeire event.
But, other than that, you are quite right.

I thought the 2 weeks was a reccomendation and you could sanction up to and including the day of the tournament.

Has anyone had 2 people from the same city apply for TO status? If so, were both of you picked up?

Yep, got my TO email today too. And the 14 day thing is a recommendation. You are permitted to sanction up to and including the day of the tournament.
They just want the time to allow for advertising.

Same here, Phoenix. I wish that there was actually somewhere to put actual information in that form so I could talk about my past TO experience.
*Still kicking himself for not applying to be a Premiere TO soon enough*

Therefore, I must believe my application has been rejected, wont lie to you, shed a tear, guess it has something to do with being in mexico, i wish mom and the rest of the crew a lot of happy tournaments, as for me, I am a tad dissappointed, hope its just a phase.

I am in the game now, I have sanctioned a tournament for my league in Fort Collins as requested. Based on my experience with the sanctioning it seems that tournament materials will be sent to the event. Wonder what those are. I also learned some things about the new computer program to operate the event. It seems that you have to generate a special file that first downloads as a .txt file then you convert it to its special format that the tournment magement system can read and edit. Then when that is done you can simply report the event by uploading the file on the op.pokemon-tcg.com site. It is everything I need to know and I think it is going to be a great program to use. (That is IF they now have age-modified swiss on the thing). Also note that the program download is 27MB so that is over three hours on a modem connection, better pick a good time to download it.
If anyone is still having trouble, should contact POP at tournaments@pokemon.com.

The newest version of the program DOES support Age Modified Swiss.

I sure hope they added match slips... I went crazy trying to explain this and then having to make players wait while other signed the sheet each round:

It's counterproductive for the person recording results on the computer and for the judge who has to sign versus actually judging.

Whew - I was kinda worried when I didn't get any sort of email regarding my TO application (after everyone was reporting in that they now had!)... :( - even re-applied out of frustration...all this in spite of the fact that I had already successfully logged in nearly two week ago (when you couldn't really do anything).
Oh, and to top it all off, I could no longer log in using that same ID...
Great news, tho', as today I was able to log in and see all the new content and options!!!!!
Yahoo!TM (oops :p)
Now if I can just get enough players to run a sanctioned tournament - waitaminit - I'll bet if I plan one, sanction it, and announce it here I'll surely get enough players from the VA/DC/MD areas?!?!?

I never received the confirmation Email...but I'm able to log in into the TO page... But I have only the players'option for edit the profile, making a player card, view my profile, and another one. I use my Prof ID & pwd.
Is this because I'm not in USA and International TOs are not allowed to access to the TOs materials until OP starts in our country? °°
UPDATE: If I try to submit another application, there's an error of the form and I am unable to send it ... I can't wait to see the new software!

Nope this is because we wil not be recognised by the website at all as I understand it at the moment... all TO registration and orders of kits etc go through the distributors!!
So I guess it will take months if ever to get a league listed and months if ever to get your tourneys on there too.
But hey we can change our name and address details so that's cool ;)

My local PTO tried to sanction a tournament, and like Marcello-Milford, he could only view/edit his profile. Evidently, PTOs don't have TO authority yet to sanction tournaments. Hopefully, that will be fixed shortly. My PTO can't sanction our tournament yet for this this coming Saturday. :(

I will be very interested to see if any non-professors are chosen. My guess, from what I've seen so far from POP, is NO.

Sorry myst' you are wrong as has already been said by the MTs we do not get TO status by going to the website we have to apply through our distributors... and if they are not bothered or not supporting OP we can go swing :(
These programs will be implemented by local distributors but will be part of our integrated worldwide Organized Play system.
For Integrated read US only

After trying over and over again trying to Sanction a Tournament and everytime getting an error message, I found a bug in the system.
Note to all TOs: When Sanctioning a Tournament, make sure to use reletivly short Tournament Names. The system doesn't seem to like long names. When using a Long name, an error is produced. I had to learn that the hard way after trying to sanction an event countless times and finally trying a shorter name that produced no errors.
Just wanted to let you all know! :pokeball:
