Okay Big news...

coming off round 4....

Not quite accurate.

All offenses were in the round three match. Warning for being late, Game loss for not being in match for game after 10 minutes, dropped from event (escalated to DQ by Fulop ;) for not being back before end of round.

The lesson here? It does not matter who you are, or how good you are. The rules are the rules, and should be applied evenly to all.

The other lesson? When you have Fulop, Taylor, Anna, Andrew and his brother Judging, it's WAY more fun to not drop so that they can apply the penalties to 'the boss man'. Dropping from this non-sanctioned event would've been far less fun for them! Apparently, Taylor couldn't even sing the "Dave Schwimmer is DQ'd song (that they made up) because she was giggling so much. :)

The "kid" judges were the BEST! I personally received at least 4 CAUTIONS for NOT properly discarding my supporter after my turn. The "tables were turned" on us professors!

THANKS Mike Liesik for the wonderful trip prize. It was indeed the highlight of my trip to Origins. And YES DaveS, I WILL be going to Pokemon Worlds instead of GenCon! Dispite my objections earlier this year, I QUICKLY changed my attitude and chose Pokemon over LOTR. Heck, my kid, who is VERY GOOD at LOTR, even chose Pokemon over LOTR at Origins. He was even trying to recruit some of his LOTR peers to come over to our side since we have MUCH better prizes AND TCG players. Pokemon Organized Play is second to none!!!!

You've got to be kidding me... first place came with a trip!?! Figures... I lost 7th round for my second loss, and managed to end up in 17th place. In fact, I beat Shawn, who also had one loss at the time, in the sixth round. But when your first round opponent drops, and your third round opponent goes 2-5, with the great resistance system we have killing anyone with bad early matchups (not in difficulty, in the opponent's records), what do you expect. Man, that stinks, I would have had a good shot at that trip. :frown:

yah, the trip was a big surprise. I guess because EricR (the last Professor Champ) got a trip last year, they wanted to do something similiar this year.

Sorry about your resistance man. I was like 2-2 and seriously thinking about dropping to play in the modified tourney. Glad I didn't.

IvesR went undefeated, but after the Top 16 draft, he lost. I got luckier in the T16 draft (not as lucky as shawn tho) and got a 3-3 Vulpix/Ninetales line. ShawnG got a 4-3 Spoink/Grumpig line and a 2-1 Cacnea/CacturneEX line.

This was a blast and the first sealed I have played since Sandstorm and first ever draft. Even though I lost first round of top 16 I actually got a good draft with a 3/2/1 Sceptile and 2/2 Combusken and card draw (Prof Birch). I was hoping Jake and I (both from NC) would not have to play first round of top 16 but that's how it goes sometimes. We had a good matchup but he definitely played better and I was glad to see him make top 4 (I ended up 0-2 vs him that day). Got to remember to get Mike L to autograph my Grumpig...LOL. Can't wait till next year's Professor Cup!!!
