Nationals was truly excellent. I really should start from the beginning, though. Origins was even more excellent and amazing than I thought it ever could be.

We left Friday morning at 6 AM. We had a long, long drive ahead of us - 11 hours. I’d never been anywhere excellent Wisconsin and Illinois before, so this was something new to me. I was going to be in the car 8 hours longer than I ever was before.

I found the ride to be quite interesting. Our entire family played the alphabet game twice through on the way, then giving up the third time through when we couldn’t find X again. I figured there were some strange things I saw, so here is a small list of the things so different to me when we drove through Indiana.

-Marathon gas stations
-Gas station/drive-threw burger place combined
-No Cousin’s Subs!
-No Kohls stores!
-stop lights on high ways

The WEIRDEST thing for me was changing time zones - something I’ve never done before.

Anyways, we arrived in Columbus at 5:45 PM. It took 45 minutes to register at the front desk of our hotel - the Columbus Renaissance. Around 7:30, we headed over to the Greater Columbus Convention Center. We walked because it wasn’t too far from out hotel.

At the Convention Center, the Professor Cup was coming to a close. The top 8 was winding down. I saw Abe (CHARIZARDMASTERTRAINER), and we play tested twice. He played Ludicargo and I played Rock Lock. I beat him the first game even with all my Stage 1's prized. The second game we never finished because I needed to go. Right before we left, I spotted William Hung (wilhung53). I got a picture with him and got him to sign my copy of Inspiration! That made my day!

We went back to the hotel and we watched Red, White, and BOOM reflecting off of the hotels and on tv at the same time. It was pretty sweet. I went to bed at midnight because I needed to be at Origins at 8:00 AM.

The next morning we headed over to Origins right away. This entire day seems as if it went to slow, yet so fast, at the same time. I don’t know how to describe it really.

Anyways, I met up with a pile of familiar faces... better list them so I don’t miss anyone.

-Richard L. (TuxedoBlack)
-Jessica L.
-Jeff W. (Menoknow)
-Eric E. (PokeWisconsin)
-Matt E. (Rulemaster)
-Abe M. (CHARIZARDMASTERTRAINER)
-Adam V. (Ice’Cold)
-Jeffery V.
-Jimmy B. (BANGIBOX)
-James B.
-Kyle S. (Pooka)
-Alex B. (BigChuck01)
-Jason K. (Ness)
-Jason K. (ST Pika)
-Cory G. (CursedInfinity)
-Jordan B. (TormentedSoul14)
-Mike D. (BurninatingTorchic)
-Vince (Meganium45)

I also met a couple new faces at this time...
-DarkJake
-PenguinMaster

I was psyched for the event, and I wrote out my deck list (Rock Lock), borrowed some good sleeves from Jordan B. (TormentedSoul14), and signed up for the tourney.

After much anticipation, the Pokemon United States National Championships got under way!

Round 1 - Ali W. With Speed T-Tar
This was a very strange game. We both got set up at relatively the same time. Unfortunately, he was able to take out my attackers a couple of turns before I would have won. I needed 2 more turns to win the match, but no such luck.
0-1; 0 points

Round 2 - Steph B. With RAMBO
It was some old school RAMBO round 2. Steph is an awesome person. This is absolutely nothing against her, but.... RAYQUAZA SUCKS. I got T2'd by Rayquaza ex because I missed my flip for Explosive Evolution. Otherwise, I would have more than likely won this match. Oh well!
0-2; 0 points

I’ve never actually started 0-2 in any tourney. It figured that Nationals would be that time for it to happen to me. At least it was this game that was over so quick - the one right before lunch break. I got a 1.5 hour lunch break because of it.

In the time it took for the place to make my personal pan pizza for lunch, I could have walked across the entire convention center 8 times.... I swear. Then, it wasn’t that good AND the soda had no syrup left at all. Yucky!

After the wait, I barely made it back in time for round 3.

Round 3 - Patricia (Spookees) With RAMBO
This was another horrid match. I did not get set up. Nothing went my way at all. When Blaziken ex hit the field, it was game over. Good game.
0-3; 0 points

MY WORST TOURNEY RECORD EVER!!! YES!!!

Round 4 - Anthony With Emerald Theme Deck type thing
This dude is new to the game. He basically came to Nationals just to learn better strategies and to get cards. I understand his position, and after I lay down the beat down, I tell him about the current state of the format for his research project.
1-3; 3 points

Round 5 - Denise B. With Muk ex
This game was really bad for me. I had a decent start, but it didn’t matter when I didn’t get set up close to as fast as she did. She beat me down badly, and then forfeited to me after the match because she wanted to play in the Nintendo DS side event. Thank you for reviving my meaning to keep playing in this tourney.
2-3; 6 points

Round 6 - Jackie With Zapdos ex
This game was quite easy for me. All I had to do was let her get ahead on prizes, then put Scramble on a T-tar with 2 Darkness Energy so I could keep taking out her Pokemon-ex. Fairly simple game. Close, but simple.
3-3; 9 points

At this point, I meet Tracy from the MI crew. All of us were hanging out later down in the food court after Nats.

Round 7 - ??? With Metagross
It was an easy game for me with Resistance + Bite Off. I took all 6 prizes quite easily. Vince came over and commented on our game when I had a Dark T-Tar with 4 Darkness and a Heal Energy active and my opponent had a Metagross ex with 2 Metal and 2 Psychic Energy active. It was my turn, and that attack blew him to shreads.
4-3; 12 points

At this point we know we’re playing for no reason whatsoever. We keep doing so anyways.

Round 8 - Matt G. With Hariyama ex
This game was a bad match up for me again, and I lost without much trying.
4-4; 12 points

I ended up making Top 60 (not that it matters, just a fact). It was a long day, and I had a lot more ahead of me.

I’ll have more later on what we did Saturday after Nationals and Sunday! Coming soon!

No, there won't be any Worlds for me. I went to 5 different qualifiers and didn't get a trip from any. Therefore, I won't be there.
