Um, no. Flygon's GB types are Ground/Dragon. Dragon is a recessive type that, while Colorless, cannot be Colorless unless it's either pure or paired with either Normal (a strong type that shares the symbol) or Flying (a currently symbolless recessive type). That means the only type in the TCG a Vibrava/Flygon can be is Fighting, nothing else. (This also means that Latios and Latias can be Psychic only because their GB type is Psychic/Dragon.) I've explored on this in this thread (http://www.pokegym.net/showthread.php?t=4389) in TCG News.

Yeah, but NONE of them are supposed to be. Dragon is a recessive type. It's not a strong type, and Nintendo shouldn't try to make it a strong type. If a GB type has a non-Colorless descriptor in the TCG game, a Pokémon of that type plus Dragon may only be the strong type's descriptor. Thus, the only Dragon-type Pokémon that CAN be Colorless are those that are pure-Dragon, Normal/Dragon, or Dragon/Flying. (BTW, Normal is a strong type, it's the strong type that has Colorless as the descriptor.) Latias and Latios, both Psychic/Dragon in the GB game, may ONLY be Psychic in the TCG game. Vibrava and Flygon are Ground/Dragon in the GB game, they may ONLY be Fighting in the TCG game. Here's a list of all the Dragon-type Pokémon, their types, and their PROPER types in the TCG (those whose proper type in the TCG is not Colorless are NOT supposed to be Colorless):

Dratini--Dragon--Colorless
Dragoair--Dragon--Colorless
Dragonite--Dragon/Flying--Colorless
Kingdra--Water/Dragon--Water
Altaria--Dragon/Flying--Colorless
Vibrava--Ground/Dragon--Fighting
Flygon--Ground/Dragon--Fighting
Bagon--Dragon--Colorless

Scribble, even though that's how Nintendo did it, 80 HP is TOO MUCH for a Lileep (and Anorith) (unless it's a Pokémon-ex, when 80 would be the right amount). Drop it to 60 to mirror Anorith. I'll pattern Anorith after Lileep as if its HP was 60.

Anorith
60 HP {G}
Stage 1 Pokémon (Evolves from Claw Fossil) (Evolves from Mysterious Fossil)

{W} Water Gun This attack does 20 damage plus 10 more damage for each {W} Energy card attached to Anorith but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost. You can't add more than 20 damage in this way. 20+

Weakness: {W}
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: {C}

Armaldo
100 HP {G}

{G}{G} Fury Cutter Flip 4 coins. This attack does 10 damage plus 10 more damage if exactly 1 are heads, or 20 more damage if exactly 2 are heads, or 40 more damage if exactly 3 are heads, or 80 more damage if all 4 are heads. 10+
{C}{C}{C}{C} Slash 50

Weakness: {W}
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: {C}{C}{C}

As for the Weakness being {W}, {R} didn't make sense because Rock covered that Bug Weakness to Fire, and {F} and {G} also didn't make sense because Bug covered those Rock Weaknesses to Ground and Grass (but {F} would have made better sense considering Rock, another GB type that uses {F}, is an uncovered Weakness). Rock also covered Bug's Flying Weakness, but Flying has no TCG descriptor as of yet. Which left {W} the best possible choice for Weakness, as Rock's Water Weakness was not covered by the Bug type. (Those {W} Pokémon with {M} Weakness that make sense in the TCG can also have a {R} Weakness make sense as well--in fact, I use {R} more than {M} in those instances in card creation.) No, I will NOT change Anorith and Armaldo to be {F} Pokémon unless Lileep and Cradily are also changed to be {F} Pokémon.

Ancient Pokemon Trainer
02/23/2004, 02:40 PM
Carington Water Gun plus 20 is to much for first pokemon in its family to get to attack.Do plus 10 or 70 HP.Also I would say it is F because Weakness (W).Same with Armaldo has to be (F) Fury Cutter is not right ether Slash doing 40 would have to be (C)(C)(C).

GuardianTIM
02/23/2004, 04:59 PM
Carrington, you do know that in the Sandstorm set, Anorith had 80hp, and Armaldo had 110. If you've actually played the TCG lately, you'll notice that many of the attacks nowadays (Beautifly, for example) can do 50 damage for 3 energy, which is incredibly overpowered when compared to the WoTC cards in the earlier sets.

So, in the WoTC sets, 80 and 110 would be "Too Much", but with the Nintendo sets, it becomes about right.

I would be inclined to agree with you on your remarks, if the Nintendo sets didn't overpower the pokémon with their sets. However, because they did, then I'm disagreeing with you.

PS- the reason why Dragon types are Colourless is because if you have a Colourless Pokémon that is weak to Colourless, then that satisfies how Dragons are weak to Dragons, and as not many people run a colourless deck until EXDragon, that's not a big problem.
Also, Water Pokemon that are weak to Metal represent Ice types. The reason why Lapras, Dewgong, etc are not weak to Fire is because they are dual-types, or have Thick Fat as an Ability in the GBA game.

Finally, APTrainer is right - a Stage1 Pokemon that does 20 damage for ONE energy? and then does MORE damage when you put a few more energy on there? Make it 10+ instead, and keep the limit like you have with only being able to add up to 40 damage.
Let me think about this - Low HP, Strong attacks, it looks like you might have to start putting Dark at the start of the names of your pokemon. :p

Carrington388
02/23/2004, 05:33 PM
Also, Water Pokemon that are weak to Metal represent Ice types. The reason why Lapras, Dewgong, etc are not weak to Fire is because they are dual-types, or have Thick Fat as an Ability in the GBA game.I know that. The ones that a {M} Weakness makes sense on also have {R} as a sensible Weakness. That is the way of the Ice Pokémon, weak against both Fire ({R}) and Steel ({M}). Lapras and Dewgong are BAD examples, considering that their Water type cancels out the Ice type's Weaknesses to both Fire and Steel. I was thinking along the lines of Articuno, Piloswine, and Snorunt.

Also, abilities such as Levitate and Thick Fat do not reflect in either Weakness or Resistance in the TCG. If they did, EX: Ruby and Sapphire Koffing and Weezing would have had Resistance to Fighting. They don't.

Here's a list of all the Dragon-type Pokémon, their types, and their PROPER types in the TCG (those whose proper type in the TCG is not Colorless are NOT supposed to be Colorless):

Dratini--Dragon--Colorless
Dragoair--Dragon--Colorless
Dragonite--Dragon/Flying--Colorless
Kingdra--Water/Dragon--Water
Altaria--Dragon/Flying--Colorless
Vibrava--Ground/Dragon--Fighting
Flygon--Ground/Dragon--Fighting
Bagon--Dragon--Colorless
Shellgon--Dragon--Colorless
Salamence--Dragon/Flying--Colorless
Latios--Psychic/Dragon--Psychic
Latias--Psychic/Dragon--Psychic
Rayquaza--Dragon/Flying--Colorless

Well, nobody's complaining about Kabutops and Omastar being available in both GB types, so all Pokemon are allowed to be either of their GB types in the TCG. And your earlier post with Armaldo and Anorith reflects that pokemon can be either of their GB types.

That's because neither Rock nor Water are recessive, unlike Dragon. They can be both TCG types. Two strong GB types together can result in two TCG type possiblities, and there are 15 strong GB types. The strong GB types are Normal {C}, Fire {R}, Water {W}, Grass {G}, Electric {L}, Ice {W}, Fighting {F}, Poison {G}, Ground {F}, Psychic {P}, Bug {G}, Rock {F}, Ghost {P}, Dark {D}, and Steel{M}. Any combinations of two strong types can result in two possibilites that that Pokémon can have in the TCG, and both are valid. Combining the recessive Dragon (or Flying) type with a strong type results in that Pokémon only able to be the strong type, not the recessive. Lugia and Ho-Oh are the ONLY exceptions to the rule. Two recessive types together have only one case, which is currently Colorless to begin with. Single types are straightforward, the descriptor kicks in regardless of whether it's strong or recessive. I'll list several examples.
1. Mawile
GB Type: Steel
Recessive: No
TCG Type(s): Metal
2. Dratini
GB Type: Dragon
Recessive: Yes
TCG Type(s): Colorless
3. Gengar
GB Type 1: Ghost
Recessive: No
GB Type 2: Poison
Recessive: No
TCG Type(s): Psychic and Grass
4. Flygon
GB Type 1: Ground
Recessive: No
GB Type 2: Dragon
Recessive: Yes
TCG Type(s): Fighting
5. Girafarig
GB Type 1: Normal
Recessive: No
GB Type 2: Psychic
Recessive: No
TCG Type(s): Colorless and Psychic
6. Roselia
GB Type 1: Grass
Recessive: No
GB Type 2: Poison
Recessive: No
TCG Type(s): Grass
7. Delibird
GB Type 1: Ice
Recessive: No
GB Type 2: Flying
Recessive: Yes
TCG Type(s): Water
8. Salamence
GB Type 1: Dragon
Recessive: Yes
GB Type 2: Flying
Recessive: Yes
TCG Type(s): ColorlessSo you see, type figuring is straightforward, resulting in a great many combinations of TCG cards.

I guess so, but Dragon is meant to be almost a whole new type now, with it's multi-colored attacks. A Flygon that is {F} type with all sorts of different color symbols would look strange. At least on a colorless blank, it looks more realistic. Same goes for a Latias full of {W} and {R} symbols on a psychic blank, etc.

Wow, just by the size of the set I can tell it will be good ;) . Now, you should get somebody to make the actual fake cards, that would be fun. I wish I had been a member of these forums earlier and known about this, I'd have liked to help out.
