Heres my little brothers deck for his next tourney. A similar version landed me 7th in Nationals, so fingers crossed this should do just as well.
19 Pokemon
4 Plusle
3 Dratini (DS)
3 Dark Dragonair (Evo light)
3 Dark Dragonite
2 Voltorb (Frlg)
2 Dark Electrode
1 Rockets Sneasel ex
1 Rockets Scyther ex
25 Trainers
5 Gyms (4 Desert Ruins / 1 Rockets Hideout)
3 Stevens Advice
3 Copycat
1 Bills Maintenance
3 Rockets Pokeball
2 Mr Briney’s Compassion
2 Celios Network
2 Warp Point
1 Switch
1 ATM rock
1 Strength Charm
1 Pokemon Retriever
16 Energy
1 Scramble
3 R
4 Dark
4 Dark Metal
4 Rainbow
Personally I think the trainer line is shabby - however I cannot add any Rockets Admin/swoops / Pows as they are all in a more important deck (i.e my one).
The choice of Dratin and Voltorb is also bugging me. Which one is the best? Previously Ive been using the Pound Dratini - as the others energy cost were too difficult to pay for and weakness to (C) hurt. Also of the Voltorbs, the TRRs versions attacks were good, but the energy cost for the others seem a problem.
Any changes/fixes people? Please try not to radically change it - otherwise my brother will have some trouble getting to grips with it.
Thanks :thumb:

rocket's scyther EX is bad, don't use it.
Also, don't run desert ruins if you have sneasel sitting out there. Run 4 rocket's hideout
drop the bill's maintenance for another rocket's pokeball
do 3-2-3 dark dragonite and drop a plusle for 2 more rocket's sneasel EX
drop the celios and 1 of your extra gyms for 3 great ball
take out 4 dark metal energies for 3 POWS and an admin
there.
Desert Ruins doesen't hurt the Sneasel, and Scyther ex isin't as bad as you might think. Rock-Lock usually eats this deck, and it OHKO's the SD Ttar and also OHKO's Nidoqueens. You are using the right Dratini and Voltorb IMO. The free retreat is nice on the voltorb if it has an energy and 50 Hp is way better than 40 Hp on both the dratini and voltorb.

I would definetly not remove the Dark Metals. Maybe just my opinion, but when I play dragtrode they help me out A LOT.

Pulse sucks on dragtrode, u cant spend energy for retreat ...try to use lannet
and R schyter is the key vs rock lock or queendom
dragtrode is dead, just try another thing =/

hahaha good one but so not true it can still go point to point with the best of them (deck wise)
i hate it when people bash a deck that still has flare in it

Yeah, Draggy still can put up a strong matchup against some of the heavily played decks. Any other help though?
Ive realised Plusle is no way similar to Dunsparce, as it has to either retreat or get KOd. Ive considered the Dual Ball/LNS but it doesnt seem to be effective when theres only 1 R. Sneasel ex in the household. Any ways past this people?

Holon's Mentor?
-No flips required
-Searchs any Pokemon of any type/color and attributes (delta species/Pokemon-ex/Holon's Pokemon/Gym Trainer's Pokemon) as long as it's 100 HP or lower (which your Pokemon are)
-Searches for three (as many as Lanettes and more than Dual Ball/Plusle)
my two cents

Interesting. I'm glad to see some people still use Trode ex in Dragtrode. But why three Dark Electrode?
It can be a nice *very* nice attacker

Mew Ex is a great tech in this deck...
It takes care of machamp.
Ditto (Mr. Mime) also isn't too bad.
You might say... "But Dark Dragonite has a resistance to fighting! He can surely take care of Champ!"
But you don't want to put your dark dragonite on the line and many machamp decks run magnetic storm.

why not tech in a Lugia EX? they have their big EX out and you slap that down, move a D/M energy and Rainbow to it and attach a Holon Ton Trode and it dies. lose the R energy for more Ton/Trode
PS Ive posted on all the topic on the front page!!! can i have a cookie?

Plusle worked well for me. Just lose the dual balls for swoop. You can start out with Plusle, land two basics, swoop it for dratini, evolve use Evolutionary light, without retreating.

Wow loads of replies! makes a change. Thanks guys :D
I thought of Swooping Plusle but the only way to get them out consistantly would be to run 4 of them but thats a nice idea all the same.
Mew ex would be *awesome* in this deck I know, but that card is far to out of reach for my wallet. The Mr Mime Ditto sounds a bit risky, but it does look very tempting to have a few tries out against a Medicham deck, so Ill give that a test.
Mob2099: Thanks very much. That trainer line also looks like a excellent list for me to experiment with. Im liking that a lot as Ive always wanted to try out the Holon engine sometime.
Thanks to all for the help :)

um first off from my experience since I've tried it the holon engine doesn't fare well in dragtrode even with the Trode ex. the discard ends up benig to costly in a match-up especially if its a crucial evo or energy u would need to power up sneasal. Btw the you should focus on the speedtrode part of dragtrode since its the most effective one. 3-4 sneasals will help you press the offensive early and can keep many players who use jirachi with the holon engine from stallin and set-up.

Are you talking about speednite? Yeah, that does work very well.

oolalala, rocket scyther is perfect tech in dragtrode against queendom. James i was on the recieving end of it in Manchester,lol.... i would keep it.... its okay list for your brother.Only real changes you can make is adding the Rocket Sneasels but u dont have them.. Anyway im sure he will do well as the 11-14 isnt as competitive as the 15+

actually thats sorta incorrect, i would say that the 11-14 and the 15+ are on the same level of play, other than the newbies. because our age group has more newbies, we are looked at as infirior. i know so many 15+ people that i have beaten, and some are even regular tourney winners, same goes for 11-14, so i consider them both to be equal.

fair enough.... its true in the US... But the UK its really very different.... u just have to see what wins CC`s and Regionals(States last year)... random decks win things in the 11-14.... there isnt really a metagame as such....

random decks win the 11-14 in the UK? I dont think so Nitish.
an extra R energy is better than the scramble. You shouldn't need strength charm, 3-3 Dark Electrode works better than 2-2. However I'd say that the biggest problem with only 1 R Sneasel is going to be the lack of a free retreat pokemon. You could well be better off with a pigeot build rather than a speedtrode with insufficient Sneasels. so when your single sneasel feints, and it will, you can retriever it straight back into play.

keep the energies 4-4-4-4
scyther HAS to stay if u want a chance of beating Queen IMO
voltorb- i use the free retreat one, as its just so useful sometimes to send out a free retreat before u decide
dratini- auto sleep every time for me. can slow down your opponents jirachi, or plusle or whatever that vital turn to get a quick KO
this deck is good fun, and very versatile! tbh, i dont think u need 5 gyms- 4 is fine at the moment. battle frontier is not HUUUUGE and what will a fifth gym do against medicham exactly?
4 rockets pokeball, NO briney, and 1 more trode. think about a mew ex as well if you have one :)

Cheers for the quick replies folks
Remove the Brineys? The things a lifesaver - it can bring a wounded Dragonite to my hand then switch it for another, Trance the energy back and so on.
I guess the Strength Charm isnt so much of a necessity anymore and boy are R energies fun, also BF isnt as played as last year, (there is still cursed stone now) so 4 Gyms shouldnt be too bad.
- 1 Strength Charm
+ R Energy
- 1 Desert Ruins
+ 1 Rockets Pokeball (if i can get my hands on one)
Ive tried Pidgeot, and didnt like it all. Macargo was a better play, Pidgeot took up too many slots, forced me to use Rare candies and was ATM Rock/BF bait. Also theres little to Quick Search which I couldnt get by upping my draw cards.
I would toss in a VS Seeker. Very helpful IMO. Are 2 warp point and 1 switch needed? Mabey take out a warp point for the Seeker.
