Thanks to Benlugia for the info. For all of you crazy Sonic fans, Masahiro Sakuri and Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Sonic is the character that most people picked to be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2006/08/19/super-smash-bros-brawl-creators-hint-at-sonic-as-the-next-wii-fighter.htm# This is for the source.

Didn't they have an official poll, the results of which were announced, like, months ago?

I hope Sonic really does make it onto Brawl. Then I could die happy.

I can't see Sonic in SSBB...I still remember the original games too much...you think he'll be able to transform into Super Sonic?

Well, they've got those "super moves" in the game, so why not? It only makes sense that you couldn't be super for more than a short while anyway.

Heck, let 'im go Hyper!

They need shadow sonic with his gun

Sonic could fit into brawl if they don't mess with his character much, and I guess his special could eb Super Sonic.

I want to see The Prince from the Katamari series in Brawl representing Namco.

This is from the official poll. The poll means nothing, as they base nothing off of it (officially). They MIGHT follow the results and give us Sonic, but the poll confirms nothing.

If they do, I'll push the entire SSB:B team off of a cliff. Seriously, shadow with a gun was the worst idea to ever hit the sonic series.
Sonic doesn't belong in SSB:B, IMO. He's a fast character, fast doesn't fly on small levels.

Sonic is VERY viable in Brawl. Jigglypuff already has a similar attack (his chargable B move, Rollout) and working on a set of punches, kicks, aerials, and down attakcs wouldn't be, designwise, difficult. The big road block here (already mentioned, I believe) is licensing issues. Sure, Sega has given the GC a lot of exclusive games. But I'm not sure how ready they are to put their beloved character in the hands of a Nintendo 2nd party producer. Only time will tell...

I can remember when, 8-10 years ago, if sonic was made on a nintendo console, the world would explode.

Yeah, but it didn't take too long for Sega to move Sonic onto the Gamecube. They even put the Genises games on there.
If Sonic characters make it onto Smash Bros, do you think the Chaos Emeralds would be usalbe items? Imagine a random Nintendo character using Chaos Control.

Actually, I would be quite interested so see how they do Sonic (and any Sonic character, really) in the air. I mean, for Sonic, jumping is his primary attack. As soon as he's in the air, he's a ballfull of damage. So the question is, 1) How will they give him air moves if he's constantly doing an air move, and 2) How will they keep him from being cheap and simply constantly jumping at the enemy (or just jumping around in general), constantly inflicting damage?

Or maybe they'll just go against the games and not to that. Does it even work that way in 3D Sonic games? I've never really played any...

Yes, it worked like that in the 3D games. And Sonic had a "Homing Attack" that would hit nearby enemies. That could work as his air move.
Shadow seems more like a Smash Bros. character than Sonic, mostly because of his Chaos Spear attack (from Shadow the Hedgehog, final boss fight) And Knuckles as well, since he has martial art like attacks.

Homing Attack, but that sounds even more unbalanced. In addition to constantly having every part of you be damaging, you don't even have to jump directly at your opponent!

It's like an uber version of Samus' Screw Attack.

Now that I think of it, Phazon's right. That's one way to input Sonic's homing attack into smash bros.

>_> I say enough of Sonic. Knowing Nintendo, he will most likely be in the game. Let's move on.

I personally want Bomberman and The Dashing Prince(Katamari Damacy) to be in as well. And for pokemon, the only 2 new pokemon I could see in the smash bros environment are Blaziken and Deoxys.

I'd like to see some people from Castlevania. I'd like to see someone else from Earthbound. I'd like to see King Dee-Dee-Dee or whatever from Kirby. I'd like to see the Ninja from MGS. I'd like to see Waluigi. I'd like to see no new pokemon. I'd like to see Wind Waker Link replacing Kid Link. I'd like to see a pig-like Ganondorf and a nice looking Ganon.

To me, it sounds like worlds are going to be 3d, unlike the past games. How else would they make a MGS level?

With the Sonic idea, maybe they will put Tails and give him limited flying abilities like Peach. That would be cool, just don't make Tails as powerful as her lol.

Just so you know, Chaos Spear goes further back than ShtH. Think Dreamcast.

Sonic WOULDN'T work in SSB:B without major desgin changes. Sonic by design is supposed to be moving at a ridiculously fast speed. Moves aren't the problem, it's Sonic's essence of speed that won't fit.

Shadow is just a bad rehash. I wouldn't want SSB:B to be disgraced with that kind of dung.
