If I'm correct, ubers are legendaries, I believe.

And that's a really nasty thing you had going there with your explosions. I like.

James, nice job! He didn't even get to touch you. Nice job with the protect Houndoom and Gengar which aren't effected by Explosion.

CaptainGengar: No, there not legendarys. They're just Pokemon that are really powerful. Kyogre, Groudon, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Wob, stuff like that. Most of the legendarys arn't uber actually.

Anyways, about the vid, your opponent seems like a horrible player. :(

In netbattle, there's a distinction between ubers and legendary Pokemon, based on their base stats and such.

LOL, badass strategy.

Ubers have a base stat total of 680. These four Pokémon are Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-oh, and Rayquaza. Back before Rayquaza, they were known as the "Cheese Trio," and sometimes are referred to now as the "Cheese Quartet." This is the true definition of an "uber," accept no other.

Note that while Slaking is nearly as powerful, his stat base is 10 lower (670), making it not an uber.

Most sites/NB servers recognize these Pokemon as uber either due to their high base stats or cheapness.

Mewtwo, Mew, Wobbuffet, Lugia, Ho-oh, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys (All Forms).

And Slaking is NOT considered uber, in part due to his Ability.

Whoops. Well, thanks for letting me know that. I've been mislead for some time, then.

No Marril, ubers are not decided by a 680 total base stat.

Then someone manhandled the definition without my noticing or my giving a ****, because 680 base stats means uber. Anything else may be legendary, overpowered, top tier, whatever word(s) people feel like using, but "uber" is a very precise term that refers to the highest stat total, not just to something that's "cheap."

only in Marriland because in NetBattle and 90% of the other good Pokemon sites/where they play games, 00bers are:

Lugia, Ho-Oh, Mewtwo, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza and Lati@s with Sould Dew attached. I don't think Jirachi, Celebi and Mew are considered 00bers by the 90% of the communities I mentioned before.

Depends on the community Pablo.

Personally, my ubers are:
Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Soul Dew Lati@s, and Deoxys.

1v1 Wobbuffet is considered an uber too.

I don't consider Mew and Jirachi ubers.

Almost exactly the same list I posted, unsuprisingly.

Mew is considered uber because it can learn EVERY move in the game. It has the same base stats as Jirachi and Celebi, but becuase Mew can learn any move, it is uber, while Celebi and Jirachi are legendary.

The Lati@s are considered uber, even if they aren't holding Soul Dew. I've asked before.

And of course, Wobby is uber. Why, you ask? Have you ever seen Wobb vs Wobb, where both are holding Leftovers? It will end, but only some 300+ turns later, after both have used up their PP and struggle each other, with one eventually getting enough Critical Hits to Ko the other.

So as you can see Marril, 680 base stats aren't the only determining factor in being considered uber: There are a variety of other factors also.

I love how people conveniently ignored my "I don't give a **** what your netbattle community says" part. "Uber" is a precise term, which has been *******ized to mean anything people find too powerful and don't want to fight. Either that or I start using it with the umlaut and insist it's a different term because of it, or something. As in, start calling them "übers" or something.

It's the same reason I still say "DVs." Same concept as IVs, just a different name and number range. It's also why I don't call EVs "stat experience," as they are two entirely different concepts.

If only one person still believes in the original definition, is it really still relevant at all?

And where does this infallibly perfect system of determining Ubers from everything else come from?

According to him, a Pokemon has to have 680 total base stats.

At the very least, I picked it up off of Azure (they even spell Marril correctly—take that as you will), and various other sites that had been using it at the time. It was used specifically for Mewtwo, Lugia, and Ho-oh. Other legendaries were titled differently, such that when someone said "ubers," you knew it was those three.

The actual term that I'm defending is "uber-legendary," which was shortened to just "uber." Interestingly enough, I searched up and found instances of Deoxys being referred to as the "anti-uber." The whole "group of legendaries people ban" were called "00bers," a term I never really liked but am willing to accept has sort of polymorphed into "uber" because of wanting to avoid the fake leet.

I also referred to the "Cheese Trio/Quartet" above, but now that I think about it, I can't remember them being called that outside of WizPOG.
