Not sure if you are saying that this shouldn't have happened but did because of the TMS, but the two undefeated players actually should play each other. Age Modified, even using the old DCI software, always uses a players record to determine matchups after the first round. Age enters into the formula if there are several players with the same record who have not played each other. In that case, players of the same age bracket are paired. In your case, the two remaining undefeated players should have played, regardless of their ages.

I believe that the software worked right. It just appears weird.

I did recently attend a CC where the TO manually repaired every match-up that crossed age group boundries. This led to all kinds of confusion and improper byes. The second place person (3-1) was given a bye in the last round that possibly caused him to miss out on first place.

If you have sufficient players its best to run multiple tournaments so that the age groups are kept seperate.

True, but PUI stated that the only Prerelease the they would give the Okay to do this would be ones that get 100+ players.

I think for State Championships their will be different tournaments, but I am not sure on that.

03/11/2004, 10:17 AM
DBS is correct, this is the a fair way of playing unless you have really large groups. I played an undefeated 10-year old (and I am in that over-40 group) at the M&A prerelease in the last round and saw no reason why we shouldn't be able to play for overall supremacy. I won, but it didn't matter since we would have won our respective age groups anyway.

I recieved absolutely no guidance from PUI on how to run the tournament... the moment we got to 20+ players in each age group we were going to run seperate age groups 5 rounds of swiss with 20 players works nicely. This was definately the right thing to do since TMS crashed during player registration. Only lost 1/3 of the entrants that way.

So far Portland is leading the way with most players and most players in the 15+ category. Guess who had most players in the 10- group :innocent smiley:

Yep, players are making this very funny to us, you see, the 180 pesos cost is a bit steep for people in mexico, so I thought we would have like 40 players tops, and we ended with a major tournament over here, but let us be reminded that this is made by players, and we are merely allowed to organize stuff for them, I dont know what others think, but at least here, the poke-community is the best community of players in mexico.

Will you please forget that,
They give 25 people a free ticket to come so it looks they had a large event.
Nice if they don't know the game and you have to explain how to attach an energy while you are supposed to play a tournament.
They screwed up the ranking system.
Judges were giving their kids advange.

So if you get those 25 away they end up with 53 and that's even 1 less than I had on my Dragon.
And at that time 4 people tried to do a prerelease and now only one. And what was the result of the stupid add thing which costs thousands of Euro's.
1 players less than me, and I did it without expensive advertising.
Thats a decrease in my eyes and wasted money.

But who am I , I'm just a stupid professor.
