I swear, it better be in the Bay Area. SoCal Gets EVERYTHING, Central CA is due for an event. They get TWO GC's down there, and we get none. Our TO tried to get a GC, but got denied, this is so unfair, I don't have money, nor ride to get down south for events like this, if SoCal gets an SC, they will have 3 chances, while Central Gets None, it costs money for North CA and Upper States to go down, This way, it'll be more fair for all around.

TRUK just relax man. You do have a point though and we should get more events up north and Washington/Oregon/Nevada/Arizona should be able to attend a Stadium Challenge, although i'm pretty sure it will be in San Diego, because events have worked out well there before. I'd also like to know something else that i find quite distrubing: WHY DOES TEXAS get 2 Gcs and a SC? They have had a weak player base for awhile now. I sure hope they add a whole lot more to that list they have up, because two of the best states for pokemon are non existant on their location list : MICHIGAN AND THE KING OF ALL : OHIO. Anyway, anyone else got any more thoughts?

Uh, you might want to check attendance from the latest events in Texas. For quite some time they were offered only one Prerelease... due to the large increase in attendance, they've been awarded two preimere events whenever they occur. Texas is a large state and in the Southern Corner of the United States. It makes perfect sense, geographically, based on the location of the Maryland Stadium Challenge and US Nationals at Origins. It's also a prime location for those who reside in Mexico.

Monkeys at the mirage dancing with the showgirls on stage or on teh strip dancing for fun. :D Id pay to see that.

In all seriousness i dont think anything is yet confirmed for the stadium challenges. The only one was teh south and besied thats nintendo will be the only ones confirming anything. Well, as for Mexico being close to Texas... that is partly true, the main source to pokemon here is not exactly bear there, though, a lot of effort will be placed upon getting mexican players to go to the stadium, our mission: to get as many stadium challenge promos as possible to feed a pokemon crazed player base... If you are around there, and wish to trade yours, we are taking almost any trade... at least a couple of mexican players are getting their Visas as we speak, so hope this will be a good thing, haha, and it can be a multi language meeting, hehehehe.

I find it EXTREMELY disappointing that the two announced Stadium Challenges are being held in (or very near to) cities were Gym Challenges are also being held! Since Las Vegas currently doesn't have a Gym Challenge, how much do you wanna bet that it WON'T get the West Coast Stadium Challenge? My bet is that it will be in (or very near to) San Diego or Irvine, thus keeping the STUPID trend to give three cities the luxury of having BOTH a Gym AND Stadium Challenge.

I'll take that bet :p ;) I agree with you that Vegas will not get it, but I think the reason for it is cause they have been advertising "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" Which seems to be more of a adult thing, then a family place image. As for the San Diego or Irvine, I will have to disagree with you on that one. Your bet is the WCSC will be in one of those cities, I will take that bet that it will not be.

It has been in San Diego in the past like everyone has said, but Im not sure if it will be there this time around. I dont know why, just have a feeling we could see it more north like in LA or San Fransico like others have posted. well apparently GLB does know I think, it would be nice for him to say where it will be, or at least give hints, I really need to plan before hand for this if it will be in San Diego

-MuD

Mudkip, you are right about me, I do know.

Now before everyone gets all hot on why GLB has not fully said anything let me explain. The South Stadium post was started with M45 knowing where and when they will have their Stadium event. The East post there Stadium with the general area, and a couple of different dates they were working on. I started this post so when everything was known I would have the ability to edit the thread as needed to post all the information for the tournament once I had it together. This thread was in no way made for the reason of “I know something you don’t know” which I know people might be thinking right now. It was started like I said to post information for the tournament once it was figured out.

Let me also explain the reason why I have yet to post the location or date of it, is because it is still being worked out. We have had a couple locations worked out in the past three week, was already to go on them, but for one reason or another they didn’t work our or was not approved. Also just this week I was told I had to change the date the tournament was planned on. Nothing really big, but I didn’t want to post information till after we know for sure. I would feel bad if I posted a date, people started to make plans, and then like this week would of had to change them because of a date change. It would throw peoples plans off for the tournament, and I don’t want that.

We are working 3 or 4 hours a day calling and emailing trying to working out details of the tournament with location, date, staff, and other things as quickly as possible for you players. As soon information with this tournament is known for sure and locked down I will pass everything on, you have my promise on that. I hope to have a majority of things worked out to post next week.

Here is the information that I can pass on IT WILL NOT BE IN NEVADA it will be in California. We are looking at locations that would be centralized so that as many players from California and other State will be able to travel and attend. Besides that main tournament we will also have Side Events. We are working on getting the date set for the middle of July. I am avoiding the 10th as much as possible since the South is and maybe even the East Stadium will be on that day. I do have a Head Judge already for the tournament that I am really excited about having him staff. He is on the boards, is a great person to work with and most people on the boards know him. I will post more information as it is confirmed and known for you guys. Hopes this helps.

Hmm... I was really hoping for the week after that, the 24th. Because not only would that not be at the same time as my family reunion, it would also make it the day before my birthday. Oh well. :o

*begins formulating plan for skipping out of family reunion this time :D *

PTE i propose that the top 8 should be 2/3 matchplay. Less luck will take place in 2/3 espically in the top 8 and help determine a more sound winner. I wouldn't mind playing 10 hours straight even if we have to i just want 2/3 somewhere in the tourney.

We tried, but some of the hotels wanted us to guarantee that we would have 100 rooms filled in order to give any type of discount, which seemed to much to me. I would just use one of the online hotel prices to get a good deal, which is what the wife and I do all the time. I have update the front page to include nearby hotels and also driving directions for those that might need it.

Like BDS said he was able the Portland OR Gym Challenge, and I was able to talk with William for a couple of minutes. He is a really nice guy and is going to try to make it not to win a trip, but to play test decks with the new HL set to get ready for worlds. Which I think is a good idea for anyone wanting or is going to worlds to get use to the new set in tournament play before Worlds comes around.

Bulbanore checking in here with some promotion and an important reminder for our players at WCSC:

We will have Big Daddy Snorlax as Tournament Head Judge plus a Head Judge for each age level as well as two more judges for each level. You will have high judge availabilityat this event.

Remember, our judges WANT you to ask questions about game play & card rulings. When in doubt or when there is a problem, you'll be able and encouraged to raise your hand and ASK a judge! Don't hesitate, just put us to work! If any ruling seems questionable you'll be able to and encouraged to appeal to the HJ at the age level. If that ruling seems questionable, you'll be able and encouraged to appeal to the Tournament Head Judge! Wow!

It's important to remind all players (especially your children and younger sibilings): CALL the JUDGE when something seems amiss or you have a question. If it still doesn't seem right, appeal. So that would make them the rib eye steak in this situation? No offense, they are top chops, but they look like they need a little kick in the flavor department. ;)

We submitted a new name to BDS on Thursday.

And as for GLP and his saucy comments, well since he can't make it out here to lend a hand, we'll bring the West Coast flavor to him shortly.

Hey GLBlaine and BDS, it might help to add an incentive like GLBirch did down South. Offer your staffers a free dinner at the local Steakhouse.

With all the fun we had down South, I really wish I could attend the West stadium too.

Also, don't expect William Hung to show. He said he wanted to attend the BEST Stadium (or maybe he said he had a prior engagement and couldn't attend the WEST Stadium). ;)

dinner at the local Steakhouse.

Well, speaking of food, if you haven't been and you like Ice Cream, Fenton's is amazing. You can have dinner there too, but I recommend skipping that and just getting one of their sundae's or a banana split that a Snorlax would find filling. Check it out, they're really unique. I know I'm going if I have to WALK all the way down College Ave.

Fentons Creamery and Restaurant (http://www.fentonscreamery.com/about_news.html)

I don't work there, own stock or anything. Just glad to see they're still there (haven't been to Cal in 10+ years). This business was founded in the 1894 nearby the present store.

For the past month I have been working hard in tracking down some rare Pokemon cards to give away as door prizes. So I am proud to announce just a few of the Door Prizes to be given out at the WCSC.

Door Prizes

1st Edition Base Set Charizard (Green Wing)

You read right, a 1st Edition Base set Charizard. Now is your chance to own one of sought out cards in Pokemon.

1st Edition Ivy Pikachu Promo #1

This is your chance to get the very rare 1st Edition Ivy Pikachu promo #1. We all have Promo #1, but how many of them are the 1st Edition. These were printed by WOTC, but at the last minute they decided not to make the first promo card 1st Edition, and they were not sent out to Leagues. A couple of these were put in 1st Edition Jungle packs, but not many were found. It is a very valuable card, and I am happy to give it out as a door prize.

Other Door Prizes will include:

-Box of Hidden Legends.
-Jumbo Pokemon Cards
-Absol Box Topper
-Groudon Box Topper
-Foil Energies
-and much more

This is my official tip of the the hat and wish of luck to all going to the West Stadium Challenge.

The South has been fought, and won!!!

Now the West and the East shall rise!!!

We all know you are in great hands....let the party begin...

You do have quite a track record to contend with....

Round 1 did begin at 11:25 (11:30 was the original goal!!)

We only had one nine-minute delay due to a misreporting...

We ran 14 side events, including a draft that lasted until 2:30 a.m. for all the REAL troopers of Pokemon (25 participants in that 1337 event!)

Good luck to all!!!

I can't wait to hear your own supreme reports next week.....

1st Place winners get Stage 2 VIP packages, and they will be given out ON SITE - at the end of the Staduim Challenge main event!!! :thumb:

Yes, similar to what Gym Challenge winners received (except they had to go to Origins to get theirs)...

[edit]ahhh, I see "who" gets them - the 1st Place Finishers in each age group receive:

1st Place
An Invite to the World Championships in August, 2004
A Travel award for you and a guest to the 2004 World Championships. Click here for details about Travel awards.
A combination of 72 booster packs from the Pokémon-e TCG: EX Series
A Stage Two VIP Package, containing cool Pokémon Merchandise!

someone forgot to add the last line (Stage Two VIP Package) to the list of prizes in the first post ;).

As RainbowRichards pointed it they are give to the winners of the Stadium Challenge. The 1st place winner of each age group will get it ON SITE, which in the past winners of the events like State Championships had to wait till they got to Nationals to get their VIP package. The ones for the Stadium will have some nice things like a Pokemon duffle bag that says Cal on it. It will also include some other fun items that I dont want to give way, but are worth it.

Not forgot, but was not told about them untill last week. When I was first given the prize list the VIP packages were not included on it. I will up date the list of prizes on the first post. Also so everyone knows the prizes for the 13th thur 16th place has changed also. It was listed at 5 booster packs, it is now 9 packs  I will make the change on the front page also.

Good job... beat me to it! Greetings all... our intent is to provide at least some updates from us in this thread and via PIRN. OTOH, the players on site come first and we'll be fitting these things in, if they fit, between round.

Beautiful day out here. We had a great judges meeting last night under the leadership of GL Blaine and Big Daddy Snorlax and I think all of us judges feel very good about the day coming up.

The venue us beautiful! A ballroom with floor to ceiling windows looking out on the campus. Lots of tables for the players and chairs on the periphery for spectators and tables at the back for people who want to hang out there.

Second quick judges meeting this morning ... and bagels ... coming up! GTG!
