Okay guys, what do you think of this? I think it'd be kinda cool to have Arnold as govenor, but actors don't always make good politicians.

Well, aside from Reagan, have we ever really had an actor run for government and win?

 Of course you'd think it would be 'cool' to have Ahh-nord to be governor: you don't live in CA!
Talk about being the laughingstock of the country...

Then again, didn't Gray Davis already make California a laughing stock?
Arnold has a solid chance of winning (though time to get out his views isn't very solid  )

I'd vote for him! No seriously, I would. I've kept an eye on his politics, and although he does have a bit of a Hollywood flair to him, I feel he does know what he's doing. I mean he did back that afterschool aide bill a year or so ago...
I mean in all honesty, attempting to run for Governor (of California no less) is nothing any person, actor or politician, should just do "for the heck of it".

I am waiting for the you know what to hit the fan... I WANNA know what skeletons he has in his AUSTRIAN past... so *bad* of me...

First off, I don't see the recall election booting Davis out of office -- most people, even in California, know that there's not much anyone could have done with this state in the current economy.
That said, I don't see Mr. Swartzenegger being any more effective than Davis -- he'll have a legislature that will be at his throat most of the time (just like Mr. Davis has -- go figure!).

Lol, yeah nothing to be done in the economy... "Well since California is down the tubes anyways... I suppose I'll give my friends in the government lots of raises... 90% of salary pensions... and I'll give the state a bigger deficit than 48 of the other states BUDGETS combined!"
I like that he's running. He doesn't have much of a political background, so it'd be a difficult task. I actually don't want a republican to win... because I don't want my party to be stuck with the impossible task of fixing California.
But I think no one honestly believes Gray Davis will be re-elected... his approval ratings are like 19%... and thats the hard-core liberal crowd that wouldn't waver even if he was caught with drugs or something.

i agree with random. grey davis hasnt done anything to improve california much, and all he's done has hurt it. if he hadnt run a smear campain in the last election, i doubt he would have won. bill simon might have made some mistakes with a business, but grey davis made mistakes a thousand times worse. i would welcome arnold as governor. anyhow, how could he be any worse than grey davis?

Life imitates art. I'm surprised that none of the papers I have access to have mentioned the movie "Demolition Man" yet. Maybe it's different in America. Heck, I just heard about Koby Bryant yesterday. Literally. Never heard of him before.
Eh... Anyhow, I think he's serious. I also think he'd do a pretty good job. Arnie, that is.

I was discussing this earlier... My family and I think it would be interesting to have Ah-nold win just for the fun of Davis seeing who we replaced him with. That's got to hurt.
Granted, although, I've been paying attention to him, and thus far, he seems to know what he's doing. Let's hope he really DOES.

Everyone's missing Arnold's big competiton: Gary Coleman - Whachutalkinbout Gray Davis?
Seriously, Arnold's a good contender, but he's a social Democrat and a fiscal Republican. If he does win, he's got a train wreck to clean up. For that matter, whoever wins will have a train wreck to clean up.
I did like the line he used on Leno when he announced, "It will be the first time Maria's ever voted for a Republican!"

I would worry about his republican cronies in office... Andrew Jackson meet the 21st century =/
Gray Davis sure recommended his =(

Ahnold, nay anyone, is up from Mr. Davis.
No, I think the biggest JOKE is the 23% voter turn out last election that got Grey Davis into power. (Was it 23%? I know it was pretty pathetic.)
THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE AND VOTE OFTEN.

I would worry about his republican cronies
Heh, watch your mouth, you don't know who here is Republican or not. :p ... I feel so weird, I'm like the only Republican in the SF Bay Area. :D

Be a Republican, no hard feelings, I TRY to avoid either "major' party anyway... he may have married INTO the JFK family... but HOW else will he make HEADS or TAILS of the CA quagmire???
I doubt ANYONE who gets elected will last a term... it a mess here.
A republican in the bay area... possible but UNHEARD of :P

Okay, You know it wouldn't be bad at all if Arnold was voted in Governor. We could have Huffington in there...or Ghallager....or Larry Flint....or Gray Davis again. Oh yeah, about Gray Davis not being able to do much with the economy. Gray Davis really didn't do much of anything as his plan of action was "it'll fix itself in time". Actually that was his plan for a lot of issues, with the result of having to cut into other Government funded programs(Colleges cutting freshmen enrollment by almost 50% in CA, that's really gonna hurt my chances of getting into a UC College sinc I'm a High School Senior. Thanks "Joe".). But anyways, Arnold is the best candidate, since with his own fortune he wouldn't be nearly as easy for special interest groups to sway him with $ plus Arnold wold be able to hire the right people with the job, and maybe even throw his own millions to help CA.
Oh yay, those were my 2 cents.

I find it kind of different for an actor to run. Think it's a bit of a populatiry game to see who wins. But that's just my opinion ;/

Three words, through, can pretty much sum up this whole deal.
Only in California. :p
That's why I'm glad I'm in the center of Earth... I mean, Arizona. :P
Of course, you never know. He might make for a good governor.
You can't base a candidate's actions based on their political affiliation. After all, there isn't much difference between the two anymore.
I'd quote Lewis Black here, but I'm not sure if it'd be inappropriate for these boards.

I don't know about you, but I like how he pointed out that he won't be influenced by special interest groups buying his vote, because he doesn't need any more money.
Any time you can get a governor who has good morals (c'mon! Larry Flynt?!?), and can't be bought out by PAC's and such, you should take it.

Grey Davis can't be re-elected. He's on his 2nd term right now. In California you can only run twice then you have to pick 2 new candidates.
The whole Gray Davis debacle (IMO) is like this: He inherited a crappy situation that the he replaced, a Republican I might add, had created. This Republican named Pete Wilson de-regulated all the electrical companies which allowed the power shortage and Enron to basically bend us over and ream us Californains big time. Ever since then Gray Davis has been literally bakstepping. And George W had a hand on this too since he was somehow connected to Enron and told Gray Davis to fix it or ELSE!
But the joke is all the candidates that's running for Govenor besides Arnold. There's Gary Coleman, local celebrity Angeline, some lady owner of a bar, and a DJ from KROQ (not sure on that one).
1st post! WHEE!

i NEVER believe any candidate who says HE WILL NOT be influenced by special interest... politics is MORE than just about $$ or power but FAVORS =/
Issa had his own money? Bill SImon has his own $$$ ~ but what a dork =/ I would have wanted RIORDAN (former mayor of LA) <- who while mayor was paid $1 per year while in office.
HE made mistakes, he learned from them BUT when he had a commission re-write the LA Charter and HIS influence of the LAUSD school board he was like all other wheeler and dealers with TOO much $$, to much influence, and TOO much megalomania =/
I really do no think this is the right time to choose an inexperienced candidate...

No, he CAN be re-elected because this is a recall, not an election. And btw, I'm not familiar with the California fiscal situation, but I DO know Davis isn't innocent. Giving out 90% of salary pensions to his friends in government ISN'T how you solve a state budget problem. And it's gotten WAY out of line since he's been elected.

Uh wow Arnold is doing so much right...
BUT i will NOT vote for him.
Hiring economic experts, etc. ROB LOWE? WTH?
Uh but do you realize who his cronies are?
Pete Wilson anyone... DAVIS had to inherit the wonderful DEregulation of the utilities... sure it ain't ALL Davises' fault.
AND the wonderful PROPOSITIONS he supported; only good thing that came out of that is THAT it ruined WILSON's chances of running for president =)

Well Arnold lost my vote when he said he would do only 1 debate and that's if the questions are already prepared for him. BLEH!
Gray Davis lost my vote thanks to him signing in a bill letting illegal aliens get Drivers Licenses. I'm sorry but that's wrong. It should be something that if you want to become a citizen of the U.S.A. it should something you earned, not like something you get at Jack-in-the-Box.
Looks like my vote is going for CRUZ BUSTAMENTE!!!! But if I could vote for the comedy, I say Gary Coleman or the pornstar.
WHO's WITH ME?!?!?

I like Cruz but HOW much different can HE be from Davis =(
Illegals or for CA RESIDENTS. Even the NEWS reporting is BIASED.
Ya know, FOR THE LIFE of me I CANNOT understand why Davis SIGNED SB60, IN MY COMMUNITY, they are happy with DAVIS but...
The Latino Community is so complex that THIS did not BUY all those LATINOs votes
BUT IT ASSURED him being recall with the 1/3 of the population THAT actually gets out there and votes.
???HUH???
