Google search for "Pokemon TFG Groundbreakers release date". Last I have seen in April 2nd.

The release date changes by 2-4 weeks every time we check. I've given up searching myself and just have our FLGS check with his distributor. Right now, they will not even quote a date. :frown:

Just saw a new release date for Groundbreaker, 8/2/08. I hope this is a mistake.

Our card shop owner told me last Saturday that his distributor said he has them at his warehouse and will be shipping them here this week. I asked the shop owner if he was sure and he said 100% sure. However, his distributor has been wrong before, so I will wait and see come this Saturday.

If either of you are pulling an April Fools joke it's not funny -_-; My local Target doesn't have TFG figures any more, or have moved them to a section that I didn't find them at...

At Target, Pokemon TFG are stocked in the following locations (listed in order of likelihood),

1. The collectable section in the Toy Department.
2. The collectable section near the checkout lines.
3. The toy aisle next to the Pokemon action figures.
4. The end-cap for the Pokemon promotion they ran a few weeks ago.
5. The stock room. Employees with PDA or the newer price-checker kiosk can look this up.

Two distributors I called yesterday said they haven't received Groundbreakers yet, and told me to call back next week.

Another online distributor has cancelled all Groundbreakers pre-orders, citing cancellation by publisher.

No Groundbreakers booster sighting at TRU, Wal-Mart or Target.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

A tier 1 distributor confirmed over the phone that Groundbreakers has been pushed back to September 2008.

Pokemon TFG is the Duke Nukem 4Ever of the collectable industry. :(

I am not pulling an April Fool's joke. That is what I was told on Saturday 03/29/08 by my local card shop owner who I have been friends with for years and he would never intentionally tell me false info. I even repeated what he said to me back to him and he said that was what his distributo told him. I will let you know on Sunday 04/06/08 if he was correct and got them in stock. I am also not sure if I said this, but he was getting the boosters and not the starters.

I am just glad I didn't do that Ebay pre-order thing.
I am wanting to get them so bad.

Well, I asked my card shop owner yesterday about the Groundbreakers boosters and he said the distributor did not send them yet and he called them and asked and the answer he got was that Pokemon was not allowing the boosters to be released yet for sale. He was as disappointed as many of us are, but it appears Pokemon is holding the release of the boosters for whatever reason.

Probably because there are still lots of inventory of Next Quest.

Another to try is KB Toys. They're actually the only other place in town I've seen them, besides Target. No luck at TRU or Wal-Mart, for me.

Not where I am. Mind you, the only stores round here are Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons and Co-Op. LOL

I just picked up one of the starters last night at TRU. They only had one of each of the starters though. Appearantly they have had them for the last week, because a league member saw them there last Tuesday.

The starters leaked out back before/around Xmas time. It is the singles, 2 and 3 packs that have not been released/ready for release.

Based on the word from the distribution channel, the latest tentative release date for Groundbreakers is September 2008. Since Next Quest was release around September 2007, that makes one TFG expansion release per year!:nonono:

If each release does not have any duplicates from previous set, it will take 10 years to release figures for every Pokemon!

...that currently exist.

Come on, Pokemon USA, you can do better than that! At least release some Promos or something to tide us over.

Yeah, I totally agree. :nonono:

This is a great opportunity for PUI to cash in on the Darkrai/Dialga/Palkia campaign. The TCG is a cash cow and it is tapping into the Darkrai craze to boost its sales. Why neglect the TFG? Basic D/P-starter promo-figures are cool, but your target audience (boys) prefer legendaries like Darkrai and the Time/Space dragons.

PUI, stop starving your fan-base and synergize the TFG product line! :thumb:

It's good to know that PUI actually published a general release date for Groundbreakers.

The information on the 3rd set was available since NY Toy Fair, but it was originally schedule for fall 2008.
