Which of the following would a beginner player under my tutelage be able to use during tomorrow's Chicago Gym Challange?

A rulings sheet containing every single ruling both from the Wizards era and the Nintendo era for all cards in the deck.

A sheet containing basic strategy ideas and tips on how to manage the deck properly.

In my mind, as a player and a professor, I believe none of those would be allowed by the floor rules, as they are an outside source of influence during play(much like having someone coach you through a game). Just imagine coming up against someone who has a "cheat sheet".
As for "A rulings sheet containing every single ruling both from the Wizards era and the Nintendo era for all cards in the deck," if the player has a question about a ruling, s/he should just call over a judge.

Neither, as far as I'm concerned.

1. The Pokemon Floor Rules specify that note taking during the match is not allowed.

2. It is a player's responsibility to know how the deck works and if a player starts to reference the sheet with basic strategy it can be seen as stalling.

3. Rulings are based off a head judge's/judge's digression (which can mean The Compendium and other helpful documents). A player with a rulings sheet is something I would not trust, since things can be edited.

Outside of the match/game? Sure, no problems with that. The problems start when the match begins.

Um, inbetween rounds he can check it, but during play would be a big no-no in my mind.

Yeah, i keep a copy of the Compendium with me at tournies, to research inbetween rounds or if a Judge asks to look in it. I keep it pretty updated, with it's printing date located in an easy-to-spot location.

I don't look at it during a match tho.
