Fossil Excavator/MD Aerodactyl

I know that Fossil Excavator can't search for Old Amber. Can it also not search for Aerodactyl, since it evolves from Old Amber, and the only Pokemon that Fossil Excavator searches for evolve from "a Fossil."

It couldn't search for MD Aerodactyl, but it could search for HP Aerodactyl which does evolve from a Fossil.
