In the upcoming Fortree Gym Battle ep in Japan, it has been reported and 99.9% confirmed that James will be getting a Chimecho. This is indeed an odd Pokemon choice, and I am wondering how it will work out for Team Rocket.

Discuss.

you know, i really don't like when trainers' types get ignored...Brock with fire, water...misty with normal, and now TR with non poisons....sigh.

Then again, considering Chimecho is a bell, replacing Victreebel makes sense. What type is Chimey again? Pure Psychic or Psychic and Steel? I can't remember.

Anyway it is interesting. I guess they don't have a specific type anymore (TR)

Chimecho is pure psychic. Jirachi is the only steel and psychic Pokemon.

I guess TR likes psychic and grass. Why don't they have Celebi?

Again: over my head. *swipes over his head*While were talking about Chimecho, how would you pronounce that? I have been wondering for a while. I go with CHIM-ee-cho, but I wonder if it might be CHIME-cho (but that doesn't sound correct). Any thoughts?

Water Pokemon Master
06/29/2004, 12:33 AM
"Chime" as in "wind chime" and "chu" as in "chubby" and the letter "o."

Two syllables, so it is not Chime-chu-o, it's Chime-cho.

Ancient Pokemon Trainer
06/29/2004, 01:17 AM
I always thought it was Chim-Ey-Co(last C is ka not Sa)

Anyone happen to see it in Japanese? Then if we get their pronounciation, we could maybe get an English equivolent. The episode aired in Japan already, right?

FlygonChampion
06/29/2004, 05:52 PM
I just say "Kim-Eko (Echo)". It's wrong, but it's easier then to stress the Chime. *shrug*

Chrisbo
06/29/2004, 06:16 PM
I think it is probably pronounced "Chime" because I've seen some animes where they have wind chimes shaped like this hanging out on the porch.

Enjoy,

Not yet. I don't think Chimecho has the same Japanese name, either, but if it does, we will know how to pronounce it. I am pretty sure it is the way I said it was, but ya never know. :)

*Slaps forehead* Duh! Of course...different Japanese name (Chiriin, a la Serebii!)...guess we'll never know until we get it in dub.

By the way, what's the pun in Chimecho? I got the chime part, but whats "cho?" Echo?

If so, then would it be reasonable to assume CHIME-koh?

Water Pokemon Master
06/30/2004, 07:49 PM
Chime-koh sounds like Pineco.

I have no idea what the "cho" means.

Cho from Harry Potter! :D

well maybe it's maybe just a combination of the two words:

Chime + echo and since nintendo didnt want chimeecho, they decided, "screw the e! let's make it hard for 5 year olds across the world to say the name of this floating purple sausage thingy!!" t owhich the rest of nintendo's workers said in strange English accents, "HEAR, HEAR!" and so that's the storry of how the flying purple sausage got it's name, good night children

Wow. That was spam.

then again so was that, so let's get back on topic,

I guess Chime-echo must be the right way to say it because it's the most likely phonetically correct version and Chime-echo > Chim-e-ko :p

My vote is for 'chee-meh-choh'; that would be the Japanese pronunciation of 'chi-me-cho'.

Chimecho is based on a furin, which is a little metal or glass bell with a long paper streamer hanging from the bell's clapper; it serves the same purpose as a windchime, but with only one note rather than several. It's very much a sound of summer :)

Looks like we won't know officially until Ash gets to Fortree City in America, which will be in a forever amount of time. :(

Something just came to mind: when will we get new episodes? It has been forever and they have been seemingly postponing new eps for some time now.

The U.S will get new episodes starting August. 7th starting with Jump For Joy.

Mew Master

It'll take that long! What ever happened to having a new episode ever saterday.

It's called the Summer. All shows have a period in time where they play reruns.

They don't play 56 episodes a year.

Mew Master
07/18/2004, 01:02 PM
There's 52 weeks in a year, not 56.

Psycho_Lugia_X
07/18/2004, 01:08 PM
I thought they went year round... My main concern here is that they had it posted on Serebii's "Coming to the US" section that a new ep was going to be aired on some upcoming Sat, but then they updated that it would air the next Sat, and this cycle repeated untill they finally posted an August airdate. Anyway, I thought I remembered them playing Summer premieres last year.

Vappy
07/18/2004, 01:32 PM
If you check Kidswb you will see that it is indeed on august 7th.

I said 56 adding in times when they play double new episodes.

New episodes start sometime this month. They may even start next week.

Togepi evolving and Misty returning for a while (the 2 parter episode) will be in a few weeks, so everyone can look forward to that.

Metal Master

I didn't think they dropped her completly. I mean they still had parts with Tracy in Johto.

Water Pokemon Master
08/13/2004, 07:36 PM
After the two episodes, she dissapears again for another 50 episodes, which means in Japan, the last time she was in a regular episode were the two Togepi ones.

Ancient Pokemon Trainer
08/14/2004, 05:24 PM
Togeprrrrrrrriiiiiiiiii! So Misty comes back ey?Yah they couldn't have dropped her cause they said something like maybe I'll see you again when Brock and Misty and Ash went different ways something like that right?Like Misty said maybe when I'm done with the gym or something.

Water Pokemon Master
08/14/2004, 07:27 PM
She'll probably come back some time in the near future (in Japan). They haven't dropped her at all since she is still in the special episodes, which they do not air here in America.

I wish they did though but it doesn't matter realy.
