Alright if you missed my other post then here it is once agian.
Special thanks to every last one of the judges that ran the event as they all did a marvelous job and I personally felt lucky to have such a great team watching over our event.
Extra special thanks to Sensei for letting my group have that extra few minutes to unpack the night before for the pre ECSC event in the lobby.
Alright that's done and now what you all wanna see. My report.
Round 1 Vs Shiftree
As only the second time I had faced this deck I knew I had to be ready for anything, if only my deck would have co operated >.>. After pulling only a pair of Treekos to start I wasn't sure how to think. More than likely I hadn't properly shuffled the deck after sorting it to do the decklist. Nothing in the way of Hand refreshers draw power or Basics could I pull. I nursed a few times but it was all in Vain. He took out my Grovyle and Sceptile abuot 6 turns in...wonderful start was all I could think.
Round 2 Vs Regeeice 0-1
Determined not to let that loss get the best of me I settled in for round 2 and ready to fight my way up as I had in states. The guy told me flat out that he just started that week but I never let that sway me into thinking easy win His Regee was out and going by turn 4 and my only save was my Resistance to water. It bought me the time for the Sceptiles to Arrive and bring out a whole new level of pain. It was over a few turns after the arrival of Sceptile EX.
Round 3 vs Kabutops EX 1-1
Another match that managed to be saved not only by my Resistance but by her weakness. Everything clicked in this round and I was able to keep step and not fall behind as I had in rounds 1 and 2. Despite being up against her bane (Sceptile EX) she still played a tough match and I have to extend her a round of applause. Way to go on an impressive deck Kim ^^
Round 4 vs Gardy EX 2-1
The showdown I was waiting for. Or so I thought. I'd played against this person at states in my second round and it was kinda refreshing to play someone I kinda knew. Not sure just why but her deck didn't seem to wanna click for her while mine ran like clockwork. It wasnt long before I exposed the power of Sceptile's energy trans with the force of Pokemon Nurse. A few of those and the gardys were put out to pasture.
Round 5 vs Gardy EX 3-1
Playing against one of my own team members. This bode well for me only because I knew his deck somewhat (Classic Gardy style) but being the Rogue Sceptile deck I held the mystery in this showdown.
The match started off with each of us and only a Dunsparce. I figured to go for the quick kill and to KO his Sparce before he could fetch a bench. Paralyzed 2 turns but the third I missed and he got his reenforcements. Darn. So I kept at it buying time all the while to set up my Sceptiles. Turn 5 Gardy....not good. My only save was that both he and I had energy problems do there wasn't much for it to do. After a few turns he was still hurting but I managed to get my energy up and a Nice Sceptile EX and make a hard hit with Poison Ring that would later be his end. After that it was essentially over as he could pull nothing else to mount a stop to my assault. Sorry Bryan.
Round 6 Vs Blazken 4-1
As i sat in to fight the final battle my opponenet offered me a tie so that we could both make top 16. I accepted and it was a good thing. Blazken probably would have been my death...
T16 vs Swampert Magneton
Game 1. Not much to tell here. I exploded out of the gate grabbing Sceptile EX and his bretheren quite early and shutting down anything he tossed at me. 1-0
Game 2. This one was more interesting. The game went back and forth but I was put behind in the count by a turn 4 Swampert EX that just devistated anything and everythign I had against him. 1-1
Game 3. By far this game was the most exciting. His turn 3 Swampert EX was met by my turn 4-5 Sceptile. Dropping a Double rainbow on the Sceptile I used Tail Rap and manged by some miracle to hit both heads. The amazment was on both our faces though slightly different in a way. With his only chance against me defeated the game was won by me in the end.
One of the best matches I've seen in a while. I have to thank him for that and I hope for a Rematch in worlds that's even better than this one ^^
T8 vs Metagross EX
This took me totally off guard and I honetly had no defense against somethng that big. But I played on anyway.
Game 1. Though the game was hard hitting early one he manged to up his pokemon before me. Thus leaving me with stage one Milotics and Grovyles to face his onslaught of Metagross....nuff said. 0-1
Game 2. Worked out a bit better for me. Metagross EX and Sceptile EX went head to head but the combo of my poison and his Desert ruins with the Green Healing and Nursing going around gave me enough steam to wait for him to conceit. 1-1
Game 3. After a game I thought I'd win rather quickly since he was pulling no energy his Furret showed up and made that a mute issue thus sealing my fate and ending the day for my poor Feebas and Treekos.
1-2
So I hung out to hear just where I placed since the rumor was that Eric Getz (who was running undefeated all day) already had an invite that his would fall to 5th I wanted to see if that was me. Sensei annouced the placings and my heart just fell as I heard my Matt Canning....6th place. So close yet so far. I claimed my prize and prepared to return to my room when I was called back to the judges table. As it turns out the person in 5th also already had an invite so his dropped!! As soon as I heard this I was nearly about to cheer right then and there. Godtrainer had already set me up with his Trip down and we planned to play the Grinder the day bafore. Now I was guaranteed to play with My teammates down in Florida and there is NOTHING that will stop us from making sure that everyone there knows who we are.
WE ARE TEAM EEVEE!!! AND WE REPRESENT SOUTH JERSEY!!!!!
Look out worlds!!! YOU'RE NEXT ON OUR SIGHTS!!!!! ^^
Looking forward to seeing you all there.
