Question about Switch and Pokemon with Sepcial Conditions

Hi, I was hoping someone can provide an answer to this question. Can you use the original Switch trainer on a pokemon that has a special condition and would otherwise not be able to retreat?

Switching is not the same as Retreating.
They just have similar end results.
