Sabeleye Stories

I was wondering what kind of success those players who featured Sabeley in their decks had with it durring the City Championships. I had really good luck with it. In one turnement I won 3 games in a row T1 with Sableeye. And over all I has 12 games durring city champuioship matches (including top cut matches) that I won T1 or T2 with Sabeleye. I wonder if I was just extraorinarily lucky or did others have some success with Sabeleye Donks this season.

Sableye in T-Tar decks=very consistent donks. Got 2 of em outa 5 matches. Gotten multiple in random games

T4 at a CC this year:

He starts with a Sableye game 2 and I have a lone Snover. Special dark. Death.

Another time I played him he only had a basic dark and just does 40, I have to warp out, he does another 40. It does a lot of damage early.

I remember once I played a friend of mine using DuskGar. I got 5 Prizes on him just using Sableye.

And this is a perfect example of why Dusknoir decks should use the shiny Duskull over the Reaper Cloth one. 60 Duskull = no Sabeleye donk.:rolleyes:

And you can use your tech 1/1 dusknoir line as an attacker when your opponent starts with Unown Q- he attacks for free and kills it t1 to win.

Wait, that was my game vs kingdra at my last CC.

I started out with a claw fossil and my opponent started with sableye. I didn't even get to draw a card! :sad:

I lost the first match of a City Championship to a sableye + special dark. I played gigas, and started with unknown G, my ONLY 50 hp starter. My opponent played him with gengar

1) CC#1 R1
My very first CC wit h Tyranitar this year I started with a Larvitar, and my opponent playing Regigiggas started with an Unown G. He went first. Attatched to Unown and passes, My turn my hand is bebes' warp point and 3 regular dark and one special dark. I draw a Roseannes' play it instead grab sabeley and regular dark. Bench Sabeleye drop the warp attact the special dark T1 win yea.

2) CC#3 R2
Two tourneys in round 2 I get a double Sableye start to his Piplup and Two baltoy start. I have special dark so I go 1st. I hit his piplup for 20. He atatches and hits me for 10. I atach basic dark to my benched sabeleye and KO the piplub. He brings up a Baltoy attatches to it and draws two cards. draw annother speciala dark, so I retreat the active sabeleye bring up the benched one, atatch the special to it and OHKO the baltoy. He draws gets nothing and conceeds the game.

3) CC#4 R2
The next tourney G2 vs the same player that I previously donked the tourney before. He is now playing Gilslor X deck. I get the Sabeleye and a special dark to his lone Gilgar start. Before we start he says "You;d better not have thae Sabeleye again" We flip I do and I win T1

4) CC#4 R3
The very next game I play a Bellowsome player. I get the Sabeleye agsain but only regular dark this time. She calles heads and wins and thinks she is going first, but when she flips over her lone oddish and I flip over my sableyey I go 1st attacht and T1 win two games in a row,

5) CC#4 R4
The very next game in the same tornement. Word has gotten out about my back to back Sabeleye donk wins. So my opponent knows that I have the in my deck. He joekingly tell me that "I had better not try that against " we cut and I get the sabeleye and regular dark again. He calls amd wins the coin flip so he goes first he thinks. Before we start. He takes a card from his hand and goes like he will bench annother pokemon but he sakes his head no and pits it back wit the rest of cards in his hand. We start he flips over
a Magicarp. I fli pover sabeleye. Oh I go 1st I say and attach and OHKO the Magicarp. He thorws down the card fro mhis hand. an Uxie " Dang I knew I sould have skipped the power" He exlamimed. But he thought he was going 1st so he took the chance.

So that tournement I went 3-2 and each win was a sabeleye donk

6) CC#6 R4
Two toruneys latter in R4 I start with Saeleye vs his lone baltoy. I only have regular dark so I hit him for 40. He draws, gets nothing and conceeds the game.

7) CC#6 R5
Next round R5 to get into the top cut . We set up I have sableeye and special dark, he has one card, and he wins the coin flip to go fist. We turn over our cards. His is Chimchar, mine Sabeleye, I go 1st. atatch special dark and T1 win, He thorwns dons his hand showing my and Uxie. "Dang I knew I knew he should have not risked it" he exclaimed,

8) CC#7 R1
New years day we travekeddown to Oregon for a CC.
R1 vs annother Reggigias player, I start with Sableye and a Special Dark, he has a baltoy. we flip over I go first atatch special dark on T1 win.

9) CC#8 R2
Ok this game I know the matchup, it is G&G with Weavile, I know that if he sets up I loose, he does not even need his double damage stadium to roll through me. So if I don't win quick I will loose, we set up with one ppokemon each, I have my sabeleye and a special dark in my opening hand. We flip for start and he goes first. Before we start he askes me if I have it? I tell him he will have to waite and see. He looks at me and says, "I am going to hate myself if you have it" They tell us to start he flips over an Unown G, I flip over my Sabeleye, I go first I tell him, draw a card and throw down the special dark, T1 win. Auuugh! he exacilms and shows me the Azelf that he had in his opening hand and did not bench.


10) CC#8 R4
This game I am going against a dusknoir player that I know I can beat if I get set up. Again both of us have only one starting pokemon. We flip and again my opponets wins the flip and thinks that they will go 1st. Seated next to my opponent is a fellow leage member, he looks at our set up then looks at me and mouths the words "do you have it" I look at my hand wit ha special dark and ever so slightly nod yes to him, We start. My opponent flips an Abra, I flip Sabeleye and say, I go 1st. Attatch the special dark and win T1 again.


11) CC#9 R4
This is a funny one as we set up and I win the flip to go 1st, my opponets flips over her Horsey, t omy Sabeley. This one was especially lucky as I did not start with a special dark, but drew it as my top deck card. The reall funny thing was that the game next to us one of our PTO's was playing and they started a little faster then we did, and the PTO made a big noise when his 40HP starter got T1'd by his opponets Sabeleye. Meanwhile my oppoenet was laughing so hard at our PTO for loosing that way that she did not notice our game. I had to waite a few seconds after putting down the special dark energy that I drew to get her to realize that our game was over as well.

12) CC#10 R6 game 3

This was the biggest most important donk win of all. It was in T4 of the very last City Championship. I was playing a Dusknoir deck that I had beated R4 during swiss. But in our 1st game of T4 he got out a T2 Dusknoir, to my lone Pupitar, and game was over on T3. Then the 2nd game we both got set up and it was a slugfest.
He took the early lead, Then once I got rid of his Dusknoirx X stadium I was able to roll through for 3 straight prizes to take a 5 prize to 4 prize lead. Then after he warp pointed me for a prize with his undamaged DP Dusknoir, I saw his bench was Aslef X and Cresselia X and annother powered up dusknor with 40 damage on it. My Tyranitar had 30 damage on it and was able to grind for 90 damage, so I thought the game was mine, So I brought it up and got lazy. I drew my card, but did not claydoll power or bench a basic as I had a sabeleye, and a Larvitar in my hand. My bench was claydoll with 40 damage
and a Rotom, nothing that could do any damage. I counted the energy I had 3 regular dark and one special, attatched a regular dark from my hand bringing the total to 110 and said "I grind your for 110 + waeakness for 140 and the KO." I go to grab my last prize when my opponents points to his Azelf X. "No weakness!!" Oh I fell into his trap, as I completely forgot about the Azelf X pokebodyl into his trap" Now I see it he will move a damage with cresselia X and hit me for 100 more and I will have nothing in play to do the last 10 damage and he will win the game.
Oh well I say fgoing 5-0 in swiss and Making T4 was still a good day. Then my opponent draws his card, and moves a damage from his benched dusknoir wit hhis cresselia X and then says I will move this to your Claydoll. the nhe attacks me with DP Dusknoir putting 100 damage on me leaving me with 10 left" I tell him I am not knoiced out I have 10 left" :OH he said I keep thinging the attack does 110 when the opponent has one prize left, dang I made that same mistake yesterday" Wow I misplay the game to him then he misplayed it right back to me, boy was that ever lucky.

So game 3 it feels like we must have around 10 min left so we hurry up and randomize our decks, He sets up and has one card. I mulligan. He draws a card and cuts my deck again after I shuffel. This time I get sabeleye and a regular dark and a Larvitat. start with Sableye. He looks at his cards and chooses to go 1st, We flip. Sableyey goes first. He flips a reaper cloth Duskull. I attatch dark and T1 win. He shows me the Aself in his starting hand and a Rare candy. "I was worried about that but usually I have a Dusknoir in my prizes and I had to try for the donk myelf as we didn;t have much time left" So I very much lucked into the finals.

same exact thing you said happened to me =[ my first CC.. and i get T1 by sableye+ SP Dark against my G =/ next card was a basic and i had roseannes no bueno..

The intricate strategy involved in achieving a turn one Overeager win is so riveting to read about, much less actually experience in person and then recount here.

There is abolutley NO STATEGY at all in a Sableye donk, it is pure unadulturated luck. That is what makes the card so horribly broken. It can do 40-50 damage on T1 and when you start with it you allways go 1st. That is so wrong in so many ways.

I had a really fun game in swiss. I was going to go first and they flip over Sableye go first and use their first attack and got 2 pokemon via Roseanne. On my turn I get up Kingdra andT1'd them. If they hadn't had started with Sableye they might of been able to not get T1'd. :eek:

Very True, The Sabeleye start can be a double edged sword vs Kingdra or Machamp you do not want to go first. I had a game ves Machamp where I was very worried that He would get the T1 donk on my Sableye. He tried to get it with a T1 Cynthias but failed, boy was I nervous cutting that deck.

Friend of mine played 4 Sabeleye 1-1 Darkrai at a cities, and went 3-3, with 2 of his games being brutaly close (Including one agianst me)....

Scary stuff, that Sabeleye...

It was Terry, he got his Caterpie donked T1, but next time you see David (Pokemather) you will have to ask him to tell you the story about the time this year that he lost 6-0 to Ross who only attacked with one Unown G the entire game. :lol::
